Ugh. Year after year I would dread having to plan for taxes (and this is despite the fact that I have worked at a tax-related company before!) Our taxes became complicated when our family went through many medical issues. A trusted friend introduced me to Sean specifically for tax purposes, and we have relied on him for years, transitioning with him from the previous company (different name) to Reason Financial. Sean is patient, thoughtful, strategic, and communicates clearly without being condescending. (So many people in financial roles that I have met can be arrogant, patronizing, and treat you differently based on how much you are 'worth' to them. This company is not like that.) Also, it is evident Sean is not only thorough and knows the details, he also has a wide-angle strategic overview of a financial situation. Lastly, this criterion may not matter to everyone, but Sean is also an ethical person who is conscientious and clearly takes his fiduciary duty seriously. I'm probably one of Sean's smallest accounts, but I get treated no differently than if I were a prominent business owner. I usually do my own taxes, but I've gone to Sean, from a friend's recommendation, for about five years now. I have a very simple "TurboTax" kind of life, but Sean always seems to get me more on my returns than I can manage on all those free tax preparation sites. He's definitely worth his small fees that he charges for tax preparation. In addition to taxes, he also gives very sound financial advice; he's been helping my new family plan our future, nearly free of charge. Even though Reason Tax is by appt only Matt had time between clients and gladly accepted me in his office. My family has been working with Steve at Rawdin-Baron (Reason) Tax Group for YEARS now, and after becoming an independent, I elected to follow their lead. My taxes have never been simple yet, as I've been moving states in the summer for about 3 years now, which means two state tax returns and lots of headaches and confusion for me. I should also mention that I live across the country from the office, and as such, am limited to phone interactions, but even with this limitation, I will ALWAYS stick with Rawdin-Baron/Reason Tax Group. Beyond the fact that they know my tax history, and my moving history, they make it so easy. I attempted to do my taxes independently on turbotax and ran into some major concerns. I called and made an appointment, and Steve was able to help me resolve the issue for a very nominal fee, while using turbotax. He made sure that I had the right boxes ticked, and even sorted out the issue that TurboTax had imported from my W-2. We elected to take this route because my location is not covered by the traditional software he uses. Even troubleshooting the problems I ran into, we were done in 30 minutes!
