I can't say enough great things about Dave Heistein and the entire Profitwise team -- they have been an absolutely fantastic partner and have helped us to better manage our business finances, bookkeeping, and personal stuff too. Profitwise totally streamlined our payroll and helped to alleviate my burden dealing with it, which had been amazing. They also got us transitioned to Quickbooks Online which has been huge for us! During our meetings with Dave he pulls up our books, answers any (and all) of my questions and can make needed adjustments right then and there. I also really appreciated their on-boarding process. From our initial meeting where Dave gave us a detailed overview of all their services to the initial setup. We felt very taken care of. As an someone who works in the marketing/advertising world I also appreciated the thoughtful collateral that was sent to us as part of being a new client. They are also very transparent with their pricing which I really value. If you're looking for a true partner to make your life easier when it comes to accounting, bookkeeping, taxes, and more -- Profitwise is the team for you. I'm so very grateful to work with them!

They do it all for me - payroll, invoicing, reconciliation, tax filings, and more. It is the best decision I ever made. I don't have to worry, our clients get their invoices more timely, less money leakage to missed tax filings/late invoices, and work with multiple states on taxes. I get to spend more time doing my actual work! They are very responsive and don't let tasks drop. Somehow they have a system for keeping 10 balls in the air at the same time and not letting any of them drop. Highly recommend!

He made me pay in advance which is unusual and should have been my first red flag. He had all of my information and that of the foundation in hand by the middle of February. Despite this he filled extensions for both filings, the second red flag. I had to email, text and call multiple times to get a status update from him, third red flag. I pay estimated taxes so need to know how much was due for April 15th and June 16th which I could not calculate without the 2023 taxes having been completed. I was so stressed and anxious, the fourth red flag. He finally filled my taxes on June 16th. Last week I got a letter from FTB telling me my taxes had been incorrectly calculated and I owed another $2,000 including $90 in late fees and interest payments. Today I got a letter from the IRS telling me my taxes had been incorrectly calculated and I was getting a $300 refund. So he was late to file despite having all the necessary information well in advance and then to add insult to injury HE DID NOT PREPARE EITHER OF MY TAX FILINGS CORRECTLY.

My initial message: "Hi Brian, I am just looking for a quote for 2023 tax filing, not to actually start it yet. We will be needing help on a couple of tax situations this year." His exact response: "Understood. I will provide a quote for 2023 during our call. I just sent the questionnaire." He then emailed me the questionnaire; I put I was interested in "Individual taxes" and sent it back to him, I NEVER put I was interested in Investment management or any other kind of financial services. So he knew this whole time I only wanted tax preparation. He still proceeded to call me today and asked a few questions related to our tax situation. Then at the end of the call he asked if I was looking for someone to manage our investments, I said not at this point...we are only looking for tax preparation now. His tone completely changed and he abruptly told me in a condescending manner we are not a good fit because they are saturated with tax preparation clients and he's looking for clients who want investment management. I was pretty shocked at the change in his tone and his annoyance once I told him I didn't need someone to manage our investments. Again, I made it VERY clear from the start I was looking for tax preparation services only from my initial message AND the questionnaire he had me fill out. I honestly don't know why he still called and was rude when he knew he couldn't take on any more clients who only wanted tax filing.
