The onboarding process…read morewas genius and user-friendly; the directions were clear and concise, making it almost impossible to mess up. Whenever I had a question, it was promptly answered, and I was back on track in no time. My books were a mess as I have been so busy getting my restaurant off the ground, I had no time to work on them. They went back to the start and got my books in order. The cost is totally reasonable, and they were flexible in allowing installments for the additional expense of having to backtrack, which was crucial for me during our slow season. Bookkeeping is foreign to me; I know how to run a kitchen and keep food costs in check. Those numbers make sense to me, but reading numbers from a business perspective is something I still have a lot to learn about. As a business owner, knowing your numbers is crucial to continued success, the breakdowns and reports that Merritt Bookkeeping provides has helped me make sense of things quickly. I am genuinely grateful for Merritt Bookkeeping. They have relived a lot of stress for me.

Paying someone who's built for this type of work is absolutely priceless, which is why I keep going back to Ian. Granted, this was the first year that I have to actually pay taxes but that's on me, not on Ian. In past years I always got a chunk back but this year was a different story. The key words in that previous sentence are "in past years." Why, you ask? Well... I picked Ian as my CPA a few years ago because I'm never going elsewhere. I don't want some old fart dying on me and leaving me to drag all my paperwork to someone else to figure out for the first time. Ian is young, Ian is skilled, and I'm going to the grave never having to hire someone else to do my taxes. Sorry Ian, you're stuck with me and my wackadoodle taxes.

Interpersonal/Customer Service: Anthony was very nice from the get go. I emailed him on an initial…read moreinquiry and he responded very expediently, via a phone call. The way he responded and how fast was a predominant deciding factor for me choosing to go with him as I was "shopping" for tax services and had put out several other inquiries and had not even received a response. Kudos to you Anthony. This was the first time I've had a professional do my tax return. I must say I'm glad Anthony was my first and I'd be willing to wager I'll go back to him. Pricing: Being this was my first time using a CPA, I frankly don't know where Anthony stands on the cost scale. Several things to note. 1. He initially quoted me higher and then charged me less due to my situation being a more straightforward tax case. 2. He prepared my federal and state tax returns, gave me the IRS payment documents for each plus the shipping envelopes, an itemized service sheet, the copy of my 2016 tax return and the independent contractor quarterly prepayment forms and corresponding schedules. I'd say all that commands considerable value. So I think what he charged was fair. I also feel like he'd look after you if you owned your own business, helping with reducing your tax liability as best as possible. All in all, you'd be in very good hands with Anthony.
