Clean store. I remember the girl up front being very friendly. Couldn't remember her name. But very lively and kind. I remember her saying "every day above ground is a good day" and I liked that. Dark hair and skin I believe. That employee saves the store with her energy. Otherwise, if you're looking for service and genuine help, maybe steer clear. Or maybe I just came on a bad day. But I wanted to buy some shoes initially then other clothes. But there was no help from anyone. The management seemed to be scarce and the other employees seemed less than thrilled to be at work - which, yeah, for what we're paying employees at the moment, I get, along with lack of benefits while the ceo makes millions per year - but there's still a structure to being a store and being an employee. Stopped in today and Shawn was so kind to pull the skates out for my viewing and then to hold them until I could return with my kid. When we returned several hours later he remembered me and brought them out and carried them all the way over to a sitting area so we could try them on. Amanda checked in with us several times, making sure we had what we needed, general conversation and some pro tips. The whole team worked together and everyone on staff asked how we were doing, offered some help and made small talk. Job really well done in customer service. read more

Came here with my kids on a Thursday evening for last minute school shopping. The Tustin (district) Tilly's wouldn't hold a backpack for me said it was against store policy. But when I found it online at this store I called and asked and they girl on the phone was super friendly and said yes for 24 hours!! So happy we've been looking for weeks. When we got there all the employee's on the floor greeted us and asked if they could help. Definitely coming back to only shop at this Tilly's. I love Tilly's, but this location that I bought a pair of pants at didn't let me make a return. The pants were clearly ripped, I had my receipt and the tags and the manager said I couldn't even exchange them, she was probably upset about something else or maybe that's just her overall attitude. My boyfriend and I shop here sometimes, but yesterday's experience was horrible. I tried on a dress and within 2 seconds of walking out to look at the mirror, an employee came up to me and said "Oh I'm sorry that isn't working out, can I get you another size?" I was pretty shocked so I didn't really say much of anything. Sure, maybe the dress was too small, but in customer service the first question you should ask is "Are you doing okay?" or something along those lines. I was seriously 2 seconds out of the fitting room, looking at the dress and didn't even form my own opinion about whether it looked nice or not yet. Really, just rude and made me feel super self-conscious and completely shot down my self-confidence for the day. read more

As I grew older, my taste in clothing changed. With this change, I found my self further and further from Tilly's. I can easily say that I haven't shopped at a Tilly's for alomst 9 years with the exception of 2 this last year (hence the epiphany of making this review). After realizing that summer is coming up and I've been meaning to buy beach weather attire, I searched stores which I thought would easily have them while enroute to my errands. TJMaxx (weak), Marshall's (double weak) and Gap (I know right?). To no avail, I found myself at the Fivepoints center in HB and there it was... Tilly's. I say to myself, "WTHeck, it's worth a shot..." and what do you know? They have a varied selection! Ultimately, the store itself is a three star. The selection is somewhat one dimensional. If you did all your shopping here, you might as well be a "bro" . I did however, have to add an extra star for pretty good service. "Good afternoon sir." "Would you like to try those on sir?" "Sir we'll be right with you, thank you for your patience..." And all at the right timing. Not rushed, not pressured, not late... I've been away from you for a while. tilly's has been around since i was little they used to have giant tent sales with everything discounted at least 50% it gets crazy and the line to pay for your merchandise would almost be a two hour wait. i haven't heard of any recent tent sales though their stuff is good but oftentimes overpriced the staff is ok but can be unfriendly at times read more

I haven't been to this store in years...and funny thing is...the counter to ring your merchandise up was bad then...and it was just as bad now. There was 2 people in line and we were just waiting there. Meanwhile, there were 4 people behind the counter doing other things. And there were ten other employees at least milling around the store. The store was dead. Finally the woman in front of me was able to go and i still had to wait for a while. I'm assuming it was a manager who said to me "someone will be with you in just a moment". I laughed and told her it was ridiculous. Then when the one cashier actually working finished with that lady the manager says "she'll be able to help you now". OH REALLY!? I can see that myself, idiot. I have really nothing to say about the clothes, prices or anything...but the service at the cashier stand is horrendous and it pisses you off when you see so many people behind the registers that aren't ringing people up. read more

Attention to anyone who is thinking of working here: DON'T do it. Apply for work elsewhere, preferably somewhere that actually prepares you for the job. I applied to be a store associate at a different location, but I was offered the position at this store instead for some reason. After getting the job, I was shown one instructional video at orientation that literally only talked about basic customer service skills, like how to greet customers etc. So I assumed that the rest of what the job entailed would be taught to me when I came in one morning to be trained. I was given one hour of cash register training, and that's it. Since this was all I learned how to do so far, it would make sense that I be put on register when I show up for work, right? But no. On my first day, I showed up and a manager (I think her name was Aralia) put me on the sales floor. I told her that I have only learned how to work at the register so far, and that I was not sure exactly what to do on the floor. Her response: "Well you watched the instructional video at orientation, didn't you?" Right off the bat I could tell she was not going to be helpful. This was my first job at a clothing store. I was still unfamiliar with the store's layout, and I wasn't sure how to do things like get clothes/shoes from the back, how to properly fold shirts, what the technical terms were for certain things, etc. It would have been different if someone could have simply guided me through those aspects of the job as I went along, but no one even did that. "Aralia" repeatedly berated me over the walkie system for not properly board-folding shirts, not doing it fast enough, not knowing where certain items went, etc. How was I supposed to know when she didn't tell me how to do it in the first place? Throughout the entire shift, guests kept asking me for help and many times I didn't know what to do, leading to many of them being upset with me (not my fault!) And when I asked the other employees for help, (especially Aralia), they were rude and impatient with me, as if I was supposed to know what to do without being taught hardly anything. It was such an embarrassing and frustrating experience that at the end of my shift, I told another one of the managers that I would not be returning. She then told me that I would get my paycheck for the orientation and that one day via direct deposit, which I had already signed up for. I also hadn't received any sort of schedule for any upcoming shifts, so I was glad to be done with that place. But after about a month of not seeing any pay from Tilly's in my account, I found out that, because this was my first and only pay period from Tilly's, it would NOT be directly deposited. So I go back to the store, and lo and behold, there's Aralia, who insists that the store did not have my check, that she had already looked for it, and that they had mailed it to my home address. After another two weeks of not receiving anything in the mail, I called corporate to see if they could tell me where on earth my check was. Corporate called the store, and then informed me that my paycheck had been there THE WHOLE TIME. They never mailed it out in the first place. Meaning that "Aralia" personally withheld my check because she didn't like me, or maybe she just didn't like the fact that I quit after my first day. When I went to pick my check up this time, I noticed she was hiding from me. Ha! Before I left, a different manager asked me why I quit so abruptly. I told him: Why would I want to work at a place that leaves me unprepared for the job, shames me for asking questions, and breaks the law by lying to me and withholding the funds I earned? A few months have passed since these people completely wasted my time. Originally I didn't want to talk about this upsetting experience, but recently I have heard from other people who were employed at this store, who have told me that their experiences were almost the same as mine. I'm sure not all Tilly's are like this. And I'm sure there are some other employees at this store I didn't meet who are actually nice and helpful. But if you want to work somewhere with petty managers who treat their new employees unfairly and unprofessionally, then by all means, take a job at Tilly's at Five Points Plaza. Then she showed another coworker the name of the person who was getting credit for my sale and the two talked under their breath about it, making me very uncomfortable. Awesome customer service. Having been to Tilly's numerous times, this time stood out. Went in with my son to look for t shirts for him, and a pair of shades for me ;). My son headed to look at the shirts and I went to the sunglass case. With-in minutes Summer asked if I would like to check out any of the sunglasses. Long story short she was very helpful in promptness, getting a mirror and letting me try in different ones (A+ customer service), and this without me asking. Five stars! Let me start off by saying that I've never had a problem with the store and I've been going. there since literally I was in elementary school and buying a pair of chucks or a new jansport backpack for school. So my experience today really got me upset. I was there shopping for Christmas presents with my grandmother and it's quite an ordeal because there's at least 16 different people that we're shopping for it at any given time so it usually takes quite a while needless to say. I like to listen to music or podcasts on my wireless headphones and I how do use the restroom so I gave my items that I was going to purchase to the younger gentleman who assisted me and the other girl who was working the dressing rooms so they would have them at the counter for me when I ready To pay. Like I said to the boy who helped me. And unlock the door to the restroom for me was so sweet and so nice I wish I could remember his name but anyways I digress. Without getting too specific or embarrassing I had a recent surgery and I'm having some medical issues and needed to deal with something obviously personal and private in the restroom and I apparently made the mistake of turning off my headphones and my podcast begin to play out loud which shouldn't of been a problem it's not like it was anything weird or inappropriate it was about a bravo reality TV show LOL anyways I knew that there were a lot of people going in and out of the restrooms because it was obviously busy it's right before Christmas so I left the podcast on for the noise and turned the water on as well because like I said it was something really personal and embarrassing for me I was then startled by pounding on the door accompanied by a loud man's voice asking ma'am are you OK. Which was weird because there wasn't a guy back there when I went in the bathroom (except for the nice younger dude) so I don't know how he knew that I was a)woman or b)how old I was because it's rude for him to call me ma'am. I'm 28. Anyways I responded with yeah is everything OK with you? By this point I was washing my hands so I open the door and I looked at him and I said what's going on and he said you've just been in there for a while I've been standing here for two minutes and the waters been on. I had no idea that he had nothing else to do besides sit there and time I using the restroom. I am thoroughly disgusted by this man's actions I told him that I didn't like people listening to me use the restroom especially creepy dudes. Apparently he was the manager his name is Noosa. Obviously I'm going to corporate with this and my attorney but I'm just really ashamed by that man's actions I hope you think twice before he does something like that again because honestly he scared me so bad and made me feel terrible and HUMILIATED me for having to deal with something which is a medically pressing issue of mine so he really ruined my day needless to say I am never going back we didn't purchase anything immediately left. read more

So I used to work at this Tilly's. Pretty cool store and pretty cool people. If you never had good service here, it's because a customer ahead of you chewed the cashiers head off because we didn't hold their item more than 24 hours, we didn't have the hot pink shoe laces that they where looking for, they thought the 20% OFF coupon was off the entire purchase not just one item orrrrrrrr it's because we didn't allow he/she use the bathroom. Most of the customers where pretty rude. They always expect so much out of us, for crying outloud, you're buying a $19.99 basic full-tilt top, what do you expect? Other than that, we did a pretty good job. We tried our best to help everyone the best we could, kept the old store looking the best it could while at the same time, corporate would chew our heads off for not dusting the legs of the racks or a customer yelling at us because the racks aren't 3 feet apart. I deducted a star because the legs of the racks where dusty, we never dusted those damn things. read more

This store is just what the rating is 3 stars. Came in the other day for a pair of sunglasses. I was determined to buy. I really needed a pair for such a sunny day & vacay. I go in & head straight to the sunglasses display in the middle of the store. I waited about 7 minutes to be approached by anyone. Clearly looking for someone. I didn't even see anyone I could even flag down. As I circle the display several times. I'm noticing the entire display is awfully dusty. I'm talking so dusty it must have two & half months since it was dusted down. At least 4/5 layers! So I see a dude & he starts working on a shirt display next to me & I approach him to help me. So he obliges. I ask him to open the girls side. It had such a very limited display! So limited! So he pulls a pair out. There's zero near by mirrors to check them out. Ok. So I put them on & there's so much dust on the front of them I can't even see out! I was overrr it. He didn't offer me a mirror. Seemed like maybe he just didn't gaf. So I take them off n told him. Um, dude. I think it's gross that these need to be sprayed down n I mean sprayed. Don't you think your display case is gross? As I handed the sunglasses back to him in concern...I said do you guys actually even sell any glasses? N the dude just shrugs. So I was already like I'm out. You take care. I told him perhaps I'll check online. N he's like ok. Bye. Akwardddd & disappointing experience. If they had a better selection I would have spent $400 as I was leaving on vacation the following week & wanted to be extra fashionable. Oh well. Buying sunglasses isn't that hard. I did spend that money elsewhere...I should have taken a picture of the case. It was laughable. The whole time it felt like I was putting a square block into a circle. I recently went into this store to return something I had purchased just shy a week. I was told at check out that I had a certain amount of time to return or exchange anything I purchased. I go to this store often and really enjoy the staff, always being helpful. But this time, I went back to exchange a swim suit bottom I purchased for the correct size, since at the time I did purchase it, the size was not available. For $7.98 I was approached by the "manager" who talked to me very rude and told me she could not longer help me with this and there was nothing she could do. I asked again if she could please exchange it just this once since I was told differently at my checkout and she again said no and that the information was on my receipt despite what her employee told me. What???? I have been in the customer service industry for 20 years. I have witnessed all kinds of people, and for me to come and approach you for this simple small thing to keep a customer, it is something I never do but felt I should. I do not appreciate someone talking down to me when this manager was half my age and her personal looks for working professionally at that level of management, was oddly ridiculous. On your receipt, it does mention that final sales items are: sunglasses, watches, panties, jewelry, cosmetics, contour, Go Pro, Beats by Dre, Skateboards, CDS and red tag items. But it never clearly states it you can't exchange an item for final sale, especially if it is the exact same item yet in a different size. My bathing suit bottoms did have a red price tag on it...so was that considered a "reg tag item?" Im really frustrated and work in marketing and sales, working with business like this one, to help promote and bring the word, bringing in a larger customer base. But now, I do feel differently about this. I was hoping a different manager, one with a valued age and decision maker, could get back to me regarding this ridiculous situation and help to correct or make good of it. read more

The store overall is great, great clothing options for summer and school. However, when my mom and I went to go purchase my items, the cashier was very rude and showed no manners whatsoever. The way he puts his overall character and reputation in the store towards the customers was not in an environment I wanted to be in. Employees are suppose to greet their customers and make their time an overall great experience, in order have the goal of making the store better atmosphere. The way he put himself out there to the customers, made himself seem as if he didn't want to work there or be associated with them. However, the manager Summer, was an awesome help in selecting different items. I loved how she treated the customers and made them feel belonged and enjoying their time shopping. All in all, to end on a lighter note, the store has many great options to select from and I hope that one day that employee changes his attitude to better improve himself as well as the customer's experience during their time at the store. read more
