After calling multiple funeral homes in the area, Tillman was the only one who was willing to go above and beyond to help accommodate our short notice funeral. Prior to finding Tillman, we had been working with a different funeral home who had misrepresented timelines and costs. But our family had already bought flights/hotels/etc. Tillman came in to save the day and work with the VA cemetery to be able to bury our dad in a timely manner. The care and attention they gave our dad made all the difference in feeling closure. No gimmicks, no company lines, just genuine care and communication. They run all of their business operations in-house and there is no third party or intermediary that we had to deal with (had a nightmare trying to go through Dignity Health). I met with LaTanya Tillman on a Tuesday where we arranged to have the body shipped to a burial site that was pre-planned. LaTanya and all of the staff were patient and courteous. Terribly disrespectful of my beautiful mother. I was not told until graveside services that after paying thousands of dollars for their services and the coffin, that Tillman had my mother in a plastic bag inside the coffin. Their reasoning was because I did not pay extra to have her filled with embalming fluid. I should have realized something was amiss when the coffin was carried on top of the hearse, rather than inside. Cheaper NEVER equates to better. Completely heart broken over the professionalism of this family owned business. They are negligent and come up with all kinds of excuses rather than owning up to an honest mistake. Stormy the receptionist has a horrible attitude. People are grieving girl- why you got a stank face?? Ms. Shadelle tries to be helpful but its all bullshit for you to leave her office. Once you leave she wont follow up and attempt to figure out the matter. Ms. LaTanya is available and present up until payment goes through then she becomes completely unavailable. Then when she finally is available, you'll be in her office while she feeds you bullshit so you can leave. Mr. Tillman the man himself is very dismissive. Couldn't care less for what I had to say was just so ready to tell me the "law" Point is for months I attempted to retrieve my loved once belongings and they just kept giving me the runaround because they clearly didn't know where it was... to the extent they handed my belongings to another dead man. Just for 2 months later for them to come up with the bogus excuse that belongings get thrown away after 2 weeks (so fuck that we're mourning) or but to make it worse I was eventually given his sneakers (waaaay past the 2 week mark) oh and since they couldn't come up with the rest of the items they decided to say it was thrown out due to his cause of death. I can't rave about Tillman Riverside enough. Grief is never an easy or enjoyable life experience to deal with but nearly everyone we came in contact with at Tillman made my families grief a lot easier. Mrs Loreine was our Angel of a counselor. Though she wasn't available during the actual services she assured us that she'd have everything discussed noted for her colleagues to follow her instructions to ensure things went how we intended. Her communication, ability to take initiative, attention to detail, professionalism and empathy were outstanding and greatly appreciated. Our family member was a Purple Heart, Silver Star Vietnam veteran and prior to our appointment unbeknown to us Mrs Loreine had already secured a service date for us with the back logged National Cemetery. We were so impressed! She also reached out to the color guard on our behalf and they were available and served at the services which made my heart so happy! During the services Myron and La Tanya were our funeral directors who didn't disappoint. We have a large family yet they were able to round everyone up while being stern yet remaining personal able and professional in order to ensure we were on time and things ran smoothly and according to program. This is notice to Cease and Desist contacting bereaved family regarding my review. Threatening my nephew to sue me is unacceptable conduct. Leave my family alone! Interestingly, the flowers that should have been taken to the church were delivered to the cemetery with the casket were delivered DEAD.
