I found Topnotch on Yelp and was impressed with their very fair price and quick turnaround-- $2,000 and two weeks instead of $7,000 and two months. They did a great job too. So when I needed a more extensive remodel, rehiring Topnotch was a no-brainer. The project entailed all new flooring (wood floors throughout the upper level, bathroom tiles and new carpeting on the lower level), removal of custom shelving throughout, a complete interior repainting from very dark colors to white, electrical work, exterior siding replacement and related repairs, exterior door replacement and repair, junk removal, electrical work, exterior power washing and interior cleaning, and various other tasks. Dmytro was always available to help solve problems and generously helped me select materials. As the scope changed along the way, he was always reasonable with additional charges and actually did a large amount of work without charging anything. The house looked GREAT when he was done, and Dmytro was always available when I had questions about the completed work or if anything needed touch-up or adjustment. He also helped me with miscellaneous work that we needed to do as part of the home sale. Dmytro has his own crew and also a team of fellow professionals with whom he has an excellent relationship. Together I am confident they can handle jobs of any scope. I feel so lucky to have found Dmytro during what was a challenging period with my sick dad and a house that needed a total makeover. I have been through other remodels that were a nightmare but this experience was the opposite-- Topnotch was a dream to work with. I really don't think you can go wrong with these guys!

We have had three major headaches purchasing Columbia Cabinets (that is, apart from the 20 week…read morewait for delivery). First, we discovered was that my built-in desk had a segment on the side that was unfinished. Our designer ordered a new drawer box, which still hasn't arrived after a month. Second, a white toe kick was not included for our pantry cabinets. We learned it was our designer's mistake, but still, I would think that Columbia would have a QC department to look into human errors like that. They made no phone call to verify that we didn't want white toe kicks for our white cabinets, even though we ordered blue toe kicks for our blue cabinets. And third, our custom storage closet had several flaws in the paint finish. It looks like paper when it gets wet - wavy, slightly rough to the touch and dull instead of shiny. So now all three parts of our home improvement project have had holdups due to Columbia Cabinets. Each of our contractors is stalled without the ability to finalize the kitchen or desk, or install the game closet. The worst part is that Columbia Cabinets is closed this whole week between Christmas and New Years, so there's no one available to handle our issue.

It was not what we wanted, so after applying it we had to go another route and actually rebuild our countertops. When we contacted the company to say we were disappointed, they really listened. They not only refunded our money, but they also reviewed our plans to rebuild the countertops. After consideration that we would have to now do an entire rebuild, they offered to help us financially. We did not even approach them about helping us rebuild. They offered it to us. They defrayed the costs by almost half. We feel that Homax is one of the few companies in the US today who stands by their products and is genuinely concerned about their customers. If you are planning to resurface something in your home, we recommend that you go to Home Depot and look for products made by Homax. We know they believe in what they sell. Also, in communicating with this company we spoke directly with admin decision makers in the company. No passing the buck to the talking heads in India or the Philippines. The company is in the US and it's products are made here.
