I love the concept of this place. It's a step up from Taco Bell but not a full blown Mexican restaurant at the same time. Been here a few times now and I'm mainly sold because of the hot sauce bar that they rotate every so often. Huge fan of some spicy and heat and this place hits that fix when I'm in the mood. This time around the wife and I got the 2 for $22 on (Saturday's only) deal. Came with 1 appetizer, 2 drinks and 2 entrees. I went with the Cheesy Steak Flautas and glad I did. They had great flavor and a crispy outer shell. The steak was cooked and chopped perfectly. The meal came with some chips and sour cream and cheese. I would give this location 5 stars but they fall short in one area. STAFF! Don't get me wrong the staff that is there is amazing and are working hard to keep things moving but I feel like they are understaffed often. If management can help this in anyway. We've been to this Tijuana Flats location many times and usually have a decent experience, but today was disappointing. I ordered a street taco and was given a soft taco instead. The steak itself--pictured--looked like leftover scraps and just wasn't good at all. The service was okay, nothing terrible, but nothing that really stood out either. For the price, we expected better. We paid about $32 + tip, and honestly could've gone to Texas Roadhouse and had a much better meal for the same amount. A little messy but overall clean. This is probably the best Tijuana Flats location that my family has been to. We've done dine-in, delivery/Door Dash, and picked up our own food to-go, and it's always been good. Once in a while some "extra toppings" fall onto my semi-picky family member's plain cheese quesadilla (for example a few pieces of shredded lettuce seem to make it in) but I'm guessing that it's busy in the back and the toppings are close together? If you go on Saturdays you can get their 2 for $22 deal which is a nice savings. read more

I was really excited and hoping this would be our New Mexican place but Tijuana committed a cardinal food service sin tonight. We ordered delivery, a mile away, and got a steak burrito and a steak chimichanga. Food arrived fast enough and hot enough temperature and appeared to have everything it was supposed to. The steak burrito and my chimichanga toppings, the bf was convinced that there was cross-contamination happening (which wasn't the worst offense), but stated the lettuce was atrocious smelling and he couldn't move past that. It smelled heavily of iceberg lettuce, but I'm used to that strong aroma when products are not freshly prepared. I also got guac with the chips included (paid $4 for a small portion), and it was bad. Wholly guacamole clearly used as an avocado paste for the base, scarce tomatoes, and no seasoning. I had to get up to add salt, pepper, Tabasco, lime, and cilantro to make it slightly enjoyable. I remembered the salsa was atrocious but it turns out the guac isn't much better, albeit fixable if you're willing to pay to make the guac for them. My chimichanga was prepared correctly and hit the spot, I ate it all. The habanero hot sauce we ordered was a watered down franks red hot, definitely not a homemade sauce. We were excited to try a homemade sauce, but there's no denying the flavor of Franks Red Hot to two hot sauce lovers. His burrito is where the biggest issue of them all lies. As he was eating, about halfway through, he started coughing. He spits out his food and pulls this long black piece of something out of the pile and states he almost choked on it and was unsure as to what it was and asked me. I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt and think maybe a cilantro stem but the moment I touched it, I knew it was plastic. Sharp, hard, and lots of edges, this piece of plastic in the photo was inside of his burrito and could have injured him. From an operational standpoint, I'd check your utensils and train your staff not to put plastic directly on hot surfaces. While I get things happen, this was a horribly scary mistake that cannot be looked past for the unnecessary risk you placed him in tonight. Absolutely appalling and will never be back after losing that trust. read more

Ok, just for all your awareness, I'm still somewhat new to Florida. I've never heard of Tijuana Flats prior to moving here. I guess my best description of this place is a gourmet Taco Bell. I tried multiple of their hot sauces which I found pretty good. I hat the Chicken Tacos and the Carnitas Burrito. I really liked the chicken tacos and the ingredients seemed fresh. The carnitas burrito was ok. Lacked some flavor. Their salsa was scrumptious and I recommend the chips and salsa. Just keep in mind this is not authentic but delicious. On to the next one! read more

It was so loud in there due to the fact that the kitchen staff was blasting rap music filled with cuss words dropping the N word over and over again so loud that it was overpowering the overhead music that already plays throughout the restaurant. It was so much noise that it gave my husband and I a bad headache and made us want to just get up and leave. From missing items to completely wrong ones being given...something is ALWAYS wrong. I would give them a break if it was always slammed when I did my order but 5 out of the 6 times were on a very slow weekdays. Never leave the store without checking your order. I love tijuana and it's one of my go to's the man who took our order was very nice and exactly what you would expect from tijuana the woman that took my refill on the other hand was a bit rude but their car seemed to be getting towed or something so it's understandable. The food was great!, athlough when it came out to us my order was incorrect but i didn't complain since i was wanting to get something new anyways since i get the same thing every-time. (the chips are always some of my favorites of all time!!) but my incorrect order still tasted very good so no complaints, the restaurant had nice music and cool drawings and such on the walls. i love Tijuana i would definitely go again! read more

I happened to go here twice in two days. I didn't know everything was cooked to order and made of healthy ingredients at this chain until my Mom told me today. They should advertise that! I got the Dos Tacos the first day: one crispy fish, the other was beef. It came with nachos and various hot sauces and regular sauces to choose from. It definitely hit the spot, but didn't knock me on my feet, but still fantastic for about $6. The second day I got a chicken burrito with everything on it that was on sale as it was Thursday with a free drink and chips. Sizeable portion and definitely tasty enough for $6. Hmm... Decided to grab a quick bite at our local Tijuana Flats. I saw they had several new items on the menu so we decided to order the Queso Burrito Crunch. It had plenty of chicken, but too much queso for my taste. The chips were plentiful as usual. I do not think I would order this again. It did not have the "crunch" it advertised. We love their tacos. Particularly the blackened chicken and ground beef. The order takers are always dead on, and read the order back to you to make sure it's correct. The taco Tuesday deal is great. They ran it all weekend to celebrate national taco day, so we visited 2 days in a row. We're not a fan of hot sauces, the food is tasty enough without them. However, if you do like them, there are plenty to choose from. They range from sweet, to death sauce. They are all well labeled tho, so you won't have any issues. Tijuana Flats is amazing as a chain. Just thought I would throw that out there - they're amazing and if you haven't tried them, go to your nearest location ASAP and order up a feast. They will not disappoint. This location is my favorite. The service is great, the staff are nice, and I have never had an order messed up yet. Eating in is nice, I love the decor ( great murals at every location) and the salsa and sauce bar. However, I enjoy their takeout service. Order online or over the phone. The staff is fast, polite and aims for excellence. I would recommend anything with their blackened chicken ( my favorite is the grilled burrito) or a nacho dish. They make things just right - a little bit of spice for flavor, but not so much that you are cramming tortilla chips for sanity. If you need a good kick or a different flavor for your meal try one of their many sauces - my favorite ( although mild) is the dictator. If you want good fast Tex Mex, this is the place. read more

We stopped in for the advertised enchiladas. We usually eat at the North Dale Mabry store but err on our way to NPR, we were greeted immediately and made to feel welcome. Our orders were served promptly and the food was hot. The assistant manager came by to check on us and assure all was well. The food was really good.
