Dining in is kind of awkward since there's never really anyone in there but the employees are always nice to me. I've had some takeout orders too and the quality matches. The person i was with didn't really enjoy the burrito but I've always liked mine so giving it a try is worth it. It was Taco Tuesday, and my boyfriend and I we're not sure where to go. He then suggested we come here. He likes how big their crunchy tacos are. I have not been here in quite a few years. I did not remember if I had like the food or not. When we arrived there were a few tables. He ordered the Taco special, which was 2 tacos, tortilla chips, and a drink. I ordered the steak salad. His tacos were not the average size, which he was happy about. My steak salad was really good. I really was surprised at how much I enjoyed my salad. Ever hear of the Crisco Kid? This taco contains Crisco's cousin "Valvoline" , yah, the motor oil. Delivery was seamless and the driver prompt and courteous. This is where the adventure begins. As I opened the bag I found my 4 tacos nestled in two separate containers. For 30 freaking dollars, it better be nestled... Let me digress, these "tacos" were, I'm assuming, aborted from a chalupa of sorts. The meat, unidentified to this date, was coated in a viscus liquid other wise knows as previously stated "Valvoline". The taco was heavy, but not in a good way. It was a saturated chupacabra and was in need of a stake to the heart. The mixture of lettuce and tomato with this oil pit just made it difficult to identify the meat mixture from the other toppings. This was my first time here and I really didn't know what to expect and everybody was so welcoming and educating me on what they do and what they have, with the different items on the menu. We love Tex-Mex and have been wanting to try this restaurant. I did a 'Pick-Up', as I was on my way home. We ordered extra salsa (medium hot), chips and guacamole dip, quesadilla as our appetizer, and crispy chicken burrito and Shrimp Bowl for our entrees. Since I live close by, the hot food was still very hot by the time I arrived. The staff was cordial and my order was ready in approximately 5-minutes. It was also delicious. Was it the best Tex-Mex I ever ate... no (I did my Navy Flight training at NAS Corpus Christi, TX & daughter lives in Plano, TX). Came here for an Elite Week special event, so I got to try a few things on the house. First off, I will say that the place is very nice looking, clean, good lighting (not too much, not too little). There's a salsa bar with various salsas you can try on your food, and the salsa bar is very clean. The young woman who took my order was super nice and friendly. What's extra nice about this place is even though you order at a counter, they bring you your food to the table, and then they come around to see if everything is ok or see if you need a drink refill, like at a regular (non-fast-food) restaurant. So I got the "Dueling Quesos" to start. Basically chips (a LOT of chips) and 2 types of queso. The white queso I thought was pretty bland, but the orange queso wasn't bad and had a little kick. Well, at least it had some flavor. Then I had the pork tacos, which were ok. Not great, but ok. Then I had the chimichanga. That was pretty good, and a decent size. Had a nice sauce on it. Overall, pretty tasty and filling. Is this place a great Mexican restaurant? Definitely not. But if you're looking for an inexpensive, quick, Mexican-ish meal, this is 1000 times better than Taco Bell. And better quality than most fast food places. You could do a lot worse. read more

This place was a good 3/5 stars. I ordered a burrito with steak, and my other two friends got crispy chicken burrito and ground beef burrito. We also ordered a large queso to share at the table. The teal burrito had mostly lettuce in it. I had to dig around for protein. But the meat that I did get was well season and tasty! The burrito was heft in size but just didn't have enough protein to topping ratio. My friend with the ground beef said he same thing. My other friend with the chicken burrito loved it. She said it was so good. It had a nice crunch and good amount of chicken in it. She liked the sauce a lot (I think it was something along the lines of "smack my ass" spicy sauce. I can't remember. Something like that). Obviously nothing here is really authentic. It is Mexican inspired food. The service was a little off. The woman that greeted us at the cash register and was friendly. But it took way too long for our food to come out (there was only one other person in front of us, but it took over 25 minutes to get us our food). On top of that, the woman that brought us a box for our leftovers never brought us additional bag utensils and napkins for us that she offered. She ran into the back and never came back, so we left. I'm not sure what happened. It was so slow the time that we went that I don't really understand what could have lead to the long wait. But if you're down for some Mexican inspired food. My husband and I were in the mood for some Mexican food and we popped in for Throwback Thursdaze. I got the burrito special, which was a burrito filled with whatever you wanted, chips, and a drink for $5.99. That's not shabby. The hemp tortilla was good and I got it filled with steak, cheese, guacamole, and sour cream. The meat wasn't overcooked and the toppings made it even better. I find myself more often saying, "How about Tijuana?" when the question for dinner arises. This is on account of MANY factors mixed together, but I'll boil them down to a simple list for you. While I limited my choices to a few things after trying the menu a few times around, I enjoy what I get (quesadilla, ATOM BOMBS[!!]) and the Hot Bar [hot sauce bar] is money. Beverages - They have beer! You can order a pitcher of beer, but only from three taps. Basics like Bud Light and Yuengling, while also having a revolving keg of something different, like Sam Adams seasonals. Service - HERE is the number one factor, folks. Top notch, A+ service. Not only do the ladies at the register always give service with a smile, but management goes above and beyond what is necessary to make sure you're having a fantastic dining experience. Whatever Tijuana Flats is doing to ensure their managers are always on their game, I have to give credit to their team for doing so. The manager at this location, Jose (I believe), surprised my group with some free chips & salsa, due to the fact that the beer I ordered had literally just ran out on the keg. I didn't ask for this, nor did it bother me that I had to switch my beer choice, but he wasn't taking "no" for an answer when it came to offering us some food goodies in place of an apology for running out of the beer. At the end of our meal, he wanted to check in again to make sure all was well. My boyfriends' food was great, except that he ordered queso to be added to one of his items and it wasn't there; he mentioned this to Jose, but said it didn't matter because the food was amazing anyways and there wasn't any point in complaining earlier. Jose was stunned - he wanted to make it right! He offered us another pitcher, or a dessert... we were really full, but thanked him anyways and said not to worry. Nope, he wanted to make it right - he brought us each a gift card and apologized about the beer running out and the food not being as we ordered. WOW!! Let's take note from this guy - management NEEDS to be like this every where. Jose went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that our experience wasn't soured by something miniscule and you know what? When they ask for a name to go with our order, we always come up with some crazy name like Mickey Mantle, George Washington or Batman and they always play along. It's a step up from fast food and did I mention they serve cold beer too? One thing that's crazy about this location is that this area has been starving for new restaurants for a while now and then, all the sudden, we have three almost identical restaurants open within a 50 yard radius (Chipotle, Pollo Tropical and Tijuana Flats.) I love this place and go there semi regularly. They have a pretty small beer collection (maybe 4 types) but they are decent beers. The staff consists of mostly mid to late teen girls which are all very friendly and helpful. They are very attentive to your wants at the table, especially for what you'd expect from that type of restaurant. On to the food. It is pretty decent, not the best food ever but definitely worth the money and atmosphere. The atom bombs are the bees knees. I usually get their chimichanga and enchiladas but their burritos, quesadillas, tacos, etc are all good. You should go ahead and try their desserts too. They have some pretty unique options and I've taken the plunge and liked it a few times. Overall the place is awesome. If you wanna hang out in a friendly environment and chow down on Mexican food while drinking then this is a great option.
