Stopped in before the dinner rush and got the Uno Taco meal deal with blackened chicken in a hard corn shell, plus chips. The shell was thick, crispy, and held up well. I haven't been to Tijuana Flats since 2012 when they were in a different location... I haven't been back because I didn't like it but A LOT has changed since then. This new location is absolutely beautiful, very clean, and in a convenient location with great parking and outdoor seating. I went at 11 am on a Wednesday and it wasn't crowded at all. There were a few guests dining inside and a few on the outside patio, but a lot of traffic in the store was for online order pickups. We ordered off of the new Street Corn limited menu and it was the best lunch I've had in a while. The side of corn is a great value and soooo sweet, juicy, and flavorful. The sauce and cheese and cilantro on it take it to the next level. The street corn chicken tacos were amazing!! The street corn steak bowl was so good also - they forgot the steak originally, but quickly brought it on the side to me. I love that it comes with guac without the upcharge. We bought a large queso to add to our meals and I'd highly recommend doing so as well!! We finished off our lunch with cookie dough flautas, which were next-level delicious. The management and staff at this location are amazing and super friendly. They were quick to fix any issues we had and made sure to check up on us to see how we were liking our meals. First time coming here. Tijuana flats is exactly what you expect: slightly overpriced, mediocre at best tex-mex. I personally love mexican food and tex mex, but everything here was just so salty. The guac was salty, chips slathered in salt, and even the pico de gallo required a glass of water. It just made the entire dining experience not enjoyable. The quesadilla itself wasn't half bad, it's just everything else that turned me off of the new. I'd recommend going to a local spot rather than here, but if you really need tex-mex and are close by, this will scratch your itch. read more

Well even AFTER the Elite event here at Tijuana Flats, I've come back JUST. FOR. THEIR. WINGS!! The jalapeño lime wings (Which weren't my first choice last time) were my choice THIS time! And they sure didn't disappoint. Juicy, tender, flavored just right and oh so good. That was MY dinner -- 10 filled me up to almost exploding. (Might have been the delicious nachos and queso that helped a little too) My hubby got the chicken tinga burrito and six wings (they accidentally gave him 8, but who would complain about that??). He made it thru about 3/4 of his GINORMOUS burrito and only managed to eat two wings. The rest we had to take home...but again, who's complaining? His burrito was absolutely HUGE and full of fresh deliciousness. He said I'd make a great choice for dinner (that means he enjoyed EVERYTHING!) and I was happy to share the joy of Tijuana Flats with my hubby. I give Tijuana Flats a 4 for their great service and cleanliness, but personally, the food isn't my favorite. It's been my and my friends' go-to joint on Tuesdays since 2014 when we started college. They have an all-day Tuesday special consisting of two tacos, chips, and a drink for $6. Affordable and sufficient, especially when you have a taco craving! I don't go to Tijuana Flats any other day since I'm able to find cheaper Tex Mex food and deals elsewhere. What makes Tijuana Flats unique is their sauce bar. The sauces range from mild to the hottest of the hot, and also include different flavors like sweet chili sauce. If you don't want to pay extra for queso or guac, then you have the free hot bar to turn to. I had a great experience with the staff members--they're all so nice and welcoming! One staff member even opened the door to greet me and my friend during our most recent visit. They make rounds often to check up on you, take away trash, and ask if you need anything. The restaurant is super clean and spacious, especially when they moved locations. Their new location in the Butler Plaza area looks more modern with their wood tables and bright lights. read more

I ordered ahead of time and sat in my car and the food was brought out to me rather quickly. I ordered their new burrito and it was actually pretty good. I still prefer the steak flautas. Most times I've gone to TJ Flats I have had good experiences but last time the chips were very stale and overall I've found this tends to happen maybe 3 out of 10 times. The new butler plaza location is cool. It has a huge sign so it is easy to find and has plenty of parking. The food itself is pretty standard across the board. Overall it's good not great. This has been a rough week. Hell, it's been a rough over two *years* now, what with the pandemic, our nutty governor, Florida COVIDIOTS, and whatever else. That said, I was happy to get some delicious therapy in the form of very decent Tex Mex from Tijuana Flats. Ordered a "Megajuana" steak burrito, hard-shell taco, queso dip, and an assortment of sauces, including a few I picked up from their self-serve sauce collection at the store. The steak burrito was massive, even compared to one I got previously at their other location on University Ave. It was loaded up with much bigger portions of steak and cheese and was delicious. The taco wasn't a dinky Taco Bell one you'd do a double-take on because it looks kid sized, but it was maybe an 8-inch hard shell nicely packed with beef, fresh tomato and lettuce, and sour cream. Now the therapeutic part, the sauces. I really haven't had a tremendous appetite in recent times for all kinds of reasons but I do enjoy the occasional ridiculously spicy meal, and the sauces from Tijuana Flats delivered. Their cayenne reminds me of a very hot Buffalo style sauce and was very good. Heat wise though the real "treat" was their Carolina Reaper infused Mofo'en Insane Sauce. I mean I'm no lightweight, I eat Thai food Thai hot and can withstand habanero level heat with little problem nowadays, but this stuff ravaged my mouth, and the heat lingered a good half hour. It hurt, but really got the endorphins going and once past that hurdle I found myself dazed, sweating, nose running, but feeling refreshed and emotionally calmer and more mellow. Being relieved the capsaicin finally cleared I'm sure has a lot to do with that, but the sauce was a great natural distraction that turned my frown upside down. The real plusses for this place I'd say are its good portion sizes, solid quality of food, and sauces galore. My online order was prepped accurately, and though a bit unnerving to see most folks unmasked in these "challenging" times in the middle of a pandemic, staff were all masked, which is important to me even though I'm vaccinated against COVID19. On top of absolutely annihilating the likes of Taco Bell, Tijuana Flats is a nice change from the typical hole in the wall authentic Mexican places where the food tends to be different permutations of excessively salty, relatively plain ingredients. read more

I had a chance to go to Tijuana Flats recently and have a bit of food. This store is in the new Butler Plaza area, recently completed, so everything inside is new and clean. I had a couple of tacos, which were quite nice. The price is right too! Throw in a drink and you have a full meal for under ten bucks, which is pretty nice. Some comments about the place. The storefront is facing to the west, so in the evening the sun has a tendency to shine straight in, somewhat blindingly. One of the problems with the new Butler area is that there are no trees to block that sort of thing, so you get the full brunt of the sunlight at that time of day. There are some sun shades, but if you want to sit outside on a cooler day, just be prepared to have sunglasses with you until sunset. There is a decent amount of seating, including a couple of high top tables with bar stools to sit in. Not sure why this is becoming more popular, because in my book those are pretty uncomfortable, but I guess some people like them. I will be returning to Tijuana Flats when I am in the mood for some Tex-Mex and I happen to be over in the Butler Plaza area. read more

Tijuana Flats is one of my favorite quick fix take outs here in town! I love the different specials they have and I love that it feels like a sit down restaurant without having a waiter or waitress that is specifically for you. When you go to Tijuana Flats you order at the counter, then they bring you your food. They have a large sauce wall where you can try the different salsa's they have. Then while you are sitting down waiting for your food, the staff will bring you drink refills, give you more chips and they will eventually bring out your order. I do have to say sometimes it takes them a really long time to bring the food out. For quick tex mex it really should be a faster process. The food is really good. My two favorite days are Taco Tuesday and Burrito Thursday. At Taco Tuesday you get 2 tacos either hard or soft shells with your choice of meat and toppings. For Thursday, its a big burrito with your choice of meat and toppings. On my most recent stop, I was here for Burrito Thursday. The burrito was perfect. It was a flour tortilla with ground beef, rice, black beans, tomato, cheese, lettuce and sour cream. They gave me a nice large handful of chips. I think the chips at Tijuana Flats are some of the best at any restaurant. They put the right amount of salt and seasoning on the chips and makes them really good! Let me begin this review with a disclaimer I do not like spicy food as I have wimpy taste buds. Let me also state I LOVE! I mean LOVE! tacos. That said I have come to really enjoy Tijuana Flats. They have become one of my favorite fast casual places to get food. I feel their portions are amazing and the food is always fresh and hot. Service is a hit or miss on some days. When you first arrive at Tijuana you can grab a menu from the wall to look over if you're not sure what they have. From there you head up to the counter to place your order. You will receive your drink. Note when ordering if you want your food done up with the works be sure to tell them you want it Tijuana style. After ordering you will go sit to either wait for your food to arrive or for your name to be called if it's a to-go order. If you do like spicy food be sure to check out their hot sauce bar they have many varieties. Once your food arrives you can leave or if eating in enjoy your meal. Portions here are generous and I find I can share with a friend. Food is also always hot and fresh with fresh toppings. I will suggest getting their guacamole it's one of the best I've eaten. they only thing keeping me from giving them a 5-star rating is the service it isn't always the best. This is my second time being here at Tijuana Flats in Butler Plaza. The first being taco Tuesday which was a great deal for two tacos and a drink. This time I came with my girlfriend and we both ordered the grilled cheesesteak falutas to try. The customer service has been great both times with someone promptly taking our order and bringing the food in a timely fashion. First impressions of the food was that it was very well displayed and plated. The main course front and center with a generous selection of "additives" of sour cream, guacamole, salsa and lettuce for you to create your concoction. They also supply some queso and chips with the meal which just makes it that much better. The cheesesteak flautas themselves taste great. The meat is tender, the peppers, and the melted cheese just make it an overall great dish. It's got carbs,protein, and cheese...what's not to like? I'm a big big fan of Tijuana Flats. When I first moved to Orlando about 4 years ago, I didn't fully understand the hype. You know, the locals talked it up because it was theirs. Tijuana Flats started in Orlando and even though the chain was all over town, they felt super connected to it. I love how Tijuana Flats posts the calories of each item on the menu. Not that it's all about calories people, but it's nice to know what you're eating. I started getting the Dos Tacos for lunch a lot - especially on Taco Tuesdays (5.99 with drink?! amazing). The whole meal is about 500-600 calories so I didn't feel bad about that - and they can blacken the chicken. I love blackened anything so I tried it and I was HOOKED. I also love the hot sauce bar, which is very unique. I discovered my favorite sauce because my boss always kept a full size bottle stocked in our fridge at work. We all like the "Smack My Sweet Ass and Call Me Sally". It's got a little pop of spice, but mostly sweet. If you don't like sweet, don't worry. There's like 20 sauces to choose from! And like I just mentioned, you can buy your own bottle for like $6? I don't remember exactly but I know it's a great price. Homemade Sangria is also good here and sometimes you come in to a $3 special! Woo! Give Tijuana Flats a try. Don't expect it to taste just like the other "mexican" restaurants you've been going to. Tijuana flats is a place I feel is a bit overlooked, but it stands toe to toe with the likes of Moe's. There's lots of Tex Mex options on this road so it's hard to give a must pick. However what I can say is that this place should at least not disappoint. There chips were a standout for me because of the seasoning on them! Unfortunately they are not free with every meal like Moe's. The meal was very filling and the free hot sauce bar is a a great thing to have to stand out. The food is just above average for me which coupled with the chips was what made me lean to a 4 star. They also sell chocolate chip cookie dough fried dessert and if that's not enough for you to come here then I don't know what is! I will start with the caveat that I do not like heat, so the entire model of a salsa bar is wasted on me because even the mild ones are too much. In that same light, if I think it's bland, the rest of the world truly must love spicy salsas because every thing else is not worth eating by itself! The chicken meat in my tacos was tender enough but it tasted like it was just bathing in a bland salsa and no seasoning. The soft flour taco was even more flavorless than the chicken meat (and I usually eat tortillas alone) but the hard corn tortilla had some flavor. I did like the shape of the hard tortilla, being longer instead of round made it easier to eat and made for better filling distribution. The raw ingredients tasted and looked nice and fresh, no wilty lettuces. I finally decided to order queso, guac, and salsa fresca to liven up my lunch, but no such luck. The most memorable part of my lunch was the lime dusted chips. Those that seem to adore this place won't have to worry about me being in their way during the lunch rush.
