I have been here many times over the years. The vibe here is strange. The walls are Gumby green. The decorations do not make sense. It does not feel like you walked into a barber shop. I will say they have had some good barbers come and sadly go. Having said that it is like playing Russian Roulette haircut style. One person cuts it great so you make sure you go back to them. Then one day they no longer work there. So, since you're already there and you need a haircut you have someone else do it. Then you go home and fix it for a half hour. They have pulled shady moves in the past. Once I realized they hadn't given me the fade I had asked for. So naturally I said something. They said "Okay we fix but we charge more now she have to do again" and added $5 to the final bill. Another time my buddy went with me and they tried charging him extra for a taper. The problem is he never asked for a taper. The lady at the register kept saying "He (the barber) said he give you taper". My buddy said "I never asked for a taper". They went back and forth until they finally took the charge off with annoyance. They also recently changed the pricing on the pricing menu so now instead of having one set price it reads Mens haircut $20-$25. Of course when it is time to pay it is always the highest cost. I gave this place a lot of chances but enough is enough. It is to the point where I have realized I am the problem... I keep going back... Too much bad business and inconsistent haircuts. read more

Never taking my family here again. The barber (2nd seat, left side) didn't clean his tools/equipment in between customers and, cut my son not once, not twice but 6 times! Unsanitary to say the very least. This is an update 2/25. My son is having some sort of dermatitis in the areas he was cut. I will be reporting this! I'm concerned for my child and others who may have been exposed to diseases and infection all because of poor business practices. How many customers did he use that same razor blade on before cutting my child, how many did he "accidentally" cut with that same razor? How many people must now get checked for blood exposure or infection? read more

I don't think I have ever wrote a negative Yelp review in my life. Do NOT go to this barbershop. The stylist did the exact OPPOSITE of what I said to do. Shaved my whole beard down when I told her deliberately that I liked it full, and to just trim it. She didn't even blend the sides, I had to ask for it at the end. My mustache is basically gone. She clearly rushed through the haircut, not caring about the quality or service. She sliced my neck up extremely bad. On top of all of this their system flagged my bank after their system shut down my card I was using. You all work hard for your money and don't take it here. Such a great service for a $12 Men's haircut! The barbers here typically take 20-30 minutes to cut my hair, compared to the big chain shops which whip through a job in about 10 minutes. What that means is that the barbers here are careful with their work and make sure all the details are right. On my hair they will typically use no less than 3 different sizes of clipper guards so that the sides and back of my hair look just right. But to finish the job, the shaving cream and straight razor come out and give a clean edge on my sideburns and neck. All of the barbers here have cut my hair, and they have all done a great job. But I seem to get the most enthusiastic approval from my wife when Maria cuts my hair. Although the barbers don't speak a lot of English, they understand well enough. This also means that they're not very chatty. For some customers who like the conversation with their stylist, I imagine this could be unsatisfying. But for me, I have found the whole experience to be tremendously relaxing, and I look forward to my time in the chair. This is also the place that turned me on to Johnny B hair gel, which works so much better for my hair than anything else I have ever tried. This place gets busy on afternoons and Saturdays, but I usually have little or no wait going in the morning or early evening. They also take appointments. Make sure to say "hi" to my friend Sergio if he's working the front counter. read more

I've been coming here since I moved nearby about 5 years ago... that says a lot because I've always loathed the barber shop experience. One bad experience, and I'll go elsewhere. Somehow, since I've been coming here, I've not ONCE gotten a messed up cut. Not ONCE has the straight blade resulted in a cut or razor burn. I don't ask for a lot, I'm only paying $12. I just wish they used a sign-in sheet to see many people are in front of you. If you are uncomfortable with Spanish conversations happening around you, heads up. If you are requesting a low fade with an undercut, might wanna spend a few more bucks. read more

This place was nice. I have been having trouble finding a good barber shop in the area. Some places have good cuts but high prices. Some places have good prices but bad cuts. This place has good cuts and good prices. I got my haircut right away. I got a fade with a razor shave at a good price. It was also quick. I love it when I get my haircut quickly. Due to a new work schedule I've not been able to go my normal barber but this place was close to where I was working that day so I went in for a haircut during my lunch break. The guy cutting my hair didn't do such a great fade and I didn't notice before I left cause I had to get back to work. I went back in today (day after) to see if he could fix it but he wasn't in. However the lady with red hair said she would fix it and she got that fade down how it shoulda been! Four stars for good customer service and fixing the bad fade. I'm sure that dude knows how to fade but maybe just had a bad day. I would go back again if needed. read more

This is my 3rd visit to this barber shop. I was wary at first being these are all ladies, and I've been getting my haircut by men barbers. Let me tell, this ladies know the skills and more. Maria, the beautiful lady that I see here is amazing. She goes beyond a simple skin fade haircut, she does a heat treatment followed by the best neck and head massage. I know... I am a woman going to a barbershop... But I don't demand much. I have long straight hair, so what I always need is a trim. I am never disappointed with Remy (she is my favorite). You would think that because they are a barbershop, they just cut hair? They do so much more! I go to them for facial waxing, updos, to flatten my hair whenever we have a special occasion, my husband gets his barbershop needs fulfilled here too (hair and beard), and they are trendy too. She asked what I wanted and really I'm very picky so said like 10 things but she took everything on board. She did an absolutely amazing job and I couldn't be happier. I gave this place a chance, I'm not from out here but I really needed my fade done again. The setting is very green, you'll see what I mean when you come, but the staff is very nice, and they got my fade, line up, and even touched up my line and beard very nicely. Bill was 12 bucks but I always tip for quality work, total 20 dollars. They do accept credit and debit here (something I was worried about) and they do know English, I feel the name Tijeras might deter customers who don't speak Spanish so I want to make sure I get that point across, they do lol. All in all it was a quality job for a fair price, I'm sure your experience here will leave you feeling the same! read more

We made the mistake of trusting the flunkies at Great Clips to cut our sons hair, ended up with Football Coach [no sideburns]-meets-Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber [straight across in the front] hair and disappointment - no refund, either. We decided to take our unfortunate 5 year-old to a REAL barbershop for a fix, and after a beautiful blonde gave our baby a trim and a super clean fade, we left SO RELIEVED, HAPPY, and the haircut he ended up with actually looks INTENTIONAL - not like a cover-up of the worlds stupidest haircut. Our son's hair looks *perfect,* and there's literally nothing the sweet lady could have done better. When we asked our son if he liked it, he said "YES!" and that he liked the Barber Shop better than the other ones we have been to. Luckily, we are moving quite close and will be coming back every couple of weeks to keep my boys looking handsome. When you're there, there's plenty of seating, a positive feeling, and all of the stylists are EXTREMELY focused - they all seem to take their jobs very seriously. The pricing is also awesome - allows you to tip nicely. I would recommend Tijeras to anyone - male or female, any race. read more
