It might just be the day, or me, or who knows what that causes that feeling, but you want to be comfortable when you get a tattoo (beyond the thousands of needle jabs). Vintage Karma has a great collection of characters with a lot of talent, humor, and Intellect. They're open to chatting or letting you read/zone out/whatever. The shop is accepting of all types of people and accommodating for your needs, whether they involve breaks, snacks, or situating you for the best experience. I have several chronic pain issues, so working around those can be challenging. Note: be prepared---I'm not an incredibly social person, but work from Vintage Karma gets noticed even in places with a high percentage of tattooed people. For example. I was just in New Orleans, and I had people going quite a bit out of their ways to look at and ask about a phoenix/peacock (pea-nix) on my arm from Ainslie and my multitude of works from Caleb.

I scheduled an appointment with Vintage Karma and to have Jaidyn to do my first one, and she went above and beyond. She made me feel at ease, extremely professional in performing her work, and all around a great artist. Not only do I recommend Vintage Karma, I also highly recommend Jaidyn as the artist to work her magic.

Today was my sister's 18th birthday. She decided to get a side labret and an eyebrow piercing…read more Tiffany said she was going to do the lip piercing first, so my sister sat back and Tiffany sanitized everything. She went ahead and pierced her lip, then tried to put the jewelry in, but it didn't go in. The barbell was stuck halfway in her lip. My sister took the needle like a champ, but then Tiffany started trying to push the barbell through with her fingers. It still wouldn't go through, so she decided to take the barbell out and try pushing it through from the inside of her lip. My sister started to sweat and was visibly very uncomfortable. After Tiffany still couldn't get it in, my sister had blood all over her mouth and it was dripping down her chin. Tiffany decided to grab a taper and try to shove that through. I have 20 piercings, and watching this happen made me start to feel dizzy. My sister started to look pale and her hands started to shake. I was the one to ask if she was okay. She said she was dizzy, so I said we should lay her back. Tiffany ignored me multiple times when I said she needed to be laid back, and she was still trying to push the taper through. Finally, she decided she should stop "messing with it." Then my sister started to sweat even more and say how hot she felt. Her eyes started to roll back and she passed out. She was out for about 10 seconds while I had to hold her head and Tiffany held her shoulders so she wouldn't fall out of the chair. All of that could've been avoided if she had been laid back like I had said multiple times. After she woke back up, Tiffany decided she would just re-pierce in the same spot. I said maybe we should do the other side of her lip instead. Instead of asking my sister if that's what she wanted to do, Tiffany just said "no." Nothing about this felt professional. It was honestly traumatic for me and my sister. Then Tiffany basically insisted it could be because of her hormones or because she "ate too much," not because she had been repeatedly stabbed by a barbell and a taper. She was nice for the most part, but this was so unbelievably unprofessional. I have been coming to No Regrets for years and had never experienced anything like this. It's not like my sister doesn't have many piercings--she can handle needles. She has both sides of her nose done and a stretched septum, along with a bunch of ear piercings. Not once has she ever passed out from being pierced. She still paid in full even after all of that. My sister and I will not be returning. Tiffany needs better training or needs to be fired! This was so unbelievably disappointing to witness.

Booking was easy and appointment times were plentiful so it was easy to get an appointment that worked for us and the fact we were traveling from Springfield. Instructions about needed documents, because this was a minor, were also clear and mentioned multiple times on the website and during booking. No whining if you don't have the right papers, you've got no excuse that you didn't see the requirements. The place is appointment only so you text when you arrive and Autumn lets you know to come in. The place may not look like much from the outside but the inside is bright and nicely decorated. A small display of jewelry is up front. My daughter was able to choose between hoops and studs. I was able to observe everything being disinfected and sanitized so knew there would be no problem with infection. Autumn was great, keeping up some light banter to put my daughter at ease. She let her know everything she was doing and when she was doing it. After we were done, my daughter got to pick from a nicely stocked prize box and Autumn gave me some aftercare instructions and daily saline wash. We had a quick followed up visit 6 weeks to check that there was no infection and that my daughter was taking care of her ears as instructed. The earrings were to stay in another 12 weeks. 10 weeks later we had to make a return visit when my daughter lost one of the earrings and the back of her ear started closing up in the day before we realized it was gone. Autumn was quick to rectify the situation ( I did pay for a new earring, which I expected) and we were in and out in 10 minutes. It did cost a fair bit more than piercing with a Wal-mart jewelry counter gun but the earrings are of far superior quality and, more importantly, I knew every needle and piece of equipment that touched my child's ears was sanitized and 99.9% unlikely to cause infection.

My first tattoo was done by Lunchbox four years ago, I asked for a wind-up magpie, he took some of the images I showed him and made an original drawing for me based on components I liked out of the images I brought and also made it into an image that would hold up well over time. Second time was done by Kannon Ball (Dustin) who no longer works at New Life. Just a small sputnik behind my ear. I just walked in and he was able to do it quickly. Third was my massive back piece, an Alphonse Mucha painting, I originally went to Dustin for it, and requested it be on my side. He suggested I move it to my back so that the image wouldn't get distorted from the placement and having to resize it to fit. He worked on it for awhile before passing on the tall order to the shop owner, Tilt. I greatly appreciated his honesty in saying he was having trouble with the large piece and passing it on to someone with more experience under his belt. It took three and a half hours to do the outlining, and I still dont have it finished because Im still mentally preparing myself for the pain of more back tattooing and the blow to my wallet. But even with just the outline done I've received countless compliments on it, some even saying its the best work they've ever seen. My most recent was done by Michael T Hastings. I had been mulling over getting a shark for about a year, then shortly after breaking up with my boyfriend decided to channel my heart ache into a physical pain with some gain. I walked in ready for something new and he was able to sketch something out and tattoo me before my two hour parking ran out. I showed him two images that I liked and let him know what additional elements to the tattoo I wanted but ultimately was pretty flexible and let him take artistic liberty and add some original details to it. Every experience I've had has been so positive. All of their artists are knowledgable and give great educated, reasonable suggestions to make sure your tattoo looks its best and holds up over time. I always know the next time I want to get a tattoo that I can count on them because of their quality and professionalism. I know Im in good hands with them whenever I go there and that they'll get it done efficiently and beautifully. Anytime someone asks where to get tattooed I always point them in the direction of New Life. I can't wait to have them put another amazing piece of art on me.

Tldr: the shop pawned me off on their apprentice for a large and complex piece. The apprentice,…read moreSeth Jarvis, never set an appointment with me, and stopped working on the design the second he got a deposit out of me. Don't go here. I came in with plans to get a large lettering piece that had a lot of meaning to me. There were no portfolios available for me to look at, just a tv with a screensaver cycling between AI slop and some truly shaky looking work. I mean there was a picture of Mario on there that looked like my 4 year old nephew drew it. After explaining what I was looking for, I was immediately referred to an apprentice at the shop, Seth Jarvis. Nobody told me he was an apprentice at the time, not him or his mentors: it was just listed on his Insta. His work looked sick and was in the style I was interested in though, and he had a few people talking him up in the comments so I decided to give him a shot. He quoted me $1300, which I thought was high, but if it was quality work I would have been happy to pay that. He said he'd get back to me with the design in a week and two weeks later he finally did. I'm wasn't in a rush so whatever. It looked sick, but only the left half was done. I say hell yea, can't wait to see the rest. Fastforward another week or two and he sends me the full thing. He says it's still a work in progress, but I can see a few points in the new design that really take away from what I wanted out of the piece. I communicate that with him and immediately start getting push back. He pulled out every narcissist line in the book. At first he just brushed away and disregarded my concerns and then he tried to browbeat and gaslight me about the style not allowing the changes I wanted on the right half of the tattoo, even though they were present and looked just fine on the left. I went in to the shop to try and reason with him, and he said he'd need a deposit to keep working on it. I wanted to give him a morale boost because I felt the design I wanted was a little complex, so I gave him double the amount that he asked for. He sends me a picture of the design the next day stripped of all flavor, with half the issues I had noticed in the first draft still there. I pointed out the issues that were still present and even offered an idea for how to fix them. His response to that was that I could take this new design or take the old one, but he refused to make any more changes. After giving him double his requested deposit without even the promise of a date to do the tattoo, he refused to work with me the very next day. If that's not a scam, I don't know what is.
