The apprentice,…read moreSeth Jarvis, never set an appointment with me, and stopped working on the design the second he got a deposit out of me. Don't go here. I came in with plans to get a large lettering piece that had a lot of meaning to me. There were no portfolios available for me to look at, just a tv with a screensaver cycling between AI slop and some truly shaky looking work. I mean there was a picture of Mario on there that looked like my 4 year old nephew drew it. After explaining what I was looking for, I was immediately referred to an apprentice at the shop, Seth Jarvis. Nobody told me he was an apprentice at the time, not him or his mentors: it was just listed on his Insta. His work looked sick and was in the style I was interested in though, and he had a few people talking him up in the comments so I decided to give him a shot. He quoted me $1300, which I thought was high, but if it was quality work I would have been happy to pay that. He said he'd get back to me with the design in a week and two weeks later he finally did. I'm wasn't in a rush so whatever. It looked sick, but only the left half was done. I say hell yea, can't wait to see the rest. Fastforward another week or two and he sends me the full thing. He says it's still a work in progress, but I can see a few points in the new design that really take away from what I wanted out of the piece. I communicate that with him and immediately start getting push back. He pulled out every narcissist line in the book. At first he just brushed away and disregarded my concerns and then he tried to browbeat and gaslight me about the style not allowing the changes I wanted on the right half of the tattoo, even though they were present and looked just fine on the left. I went in to the shop to try and reason with him, and he said he'd need a deposit to keep working on it. I wanted to give him a morale boost because I felt the design I wanted was a little complex, so I gave him double the amount that he asked for. He sends me a picture of the design the next day stripped of all flavor, with half the issues I had noticed in the first draft still there. I pointed out the issues that were still present and even offered an idea for how to fix them. His response to that was that I could take this new design or take the old one, but he refused to make any more changes. After giving him double his requested deposit without even the promise of a date to do the tattoo, he refused to work with me the very next day. If that's not a scam, I don't know what is.

i can't possibly say enough good things about vintage karma! unique and groovy store, vibe, and tattoo artists. ainslie has done two tattoos on me and i'm am 100% completely happy with the results. he meets with you beforehand to discuss what you want - so there are no surprises - he does amazing work. i haven't ever had brian do a tattoo on me (yet, anyway!) but i've seen his work and it is also wonderful. both artists are talented, ethical, careful, and super-sweet! and laura is so funny - and helpful! she'll help you find that unique gift or she'll entertain you with funny stories - and apple jack? ask about apple jack -he alone is worth the visit! read more

I love this place. Laura Davis runs an awesome shop that features local and handmade items and operates as the front half of a tattoo studio. Anslie Heilich did my tattoo (of my awesome cat) and I can't wait to work with him again on pieces to eventually complete a sleeve. While I was there, Brian Lynch was also tattooing, and he also does great work. These guys are some serious business. Professional and personable. They do excellent work while making you feel comfortable. I also appreciate that Ainslie does an in depth consultation before starting any work. I would and will recommend VK to anyone looking to get quality tattoo work. read more

The atmosphere was clean, professional, and unique in the most positive of ways. The tattoo artists actually listen to the client and do their absolute best to make that individuals wants and needs come through. Brian gave me my tattoo, and if I called him a wizard, well, I wouldn't be wrong. He has incredible skill, intuition, and a steady hand that could get a straight line during an earthquake. Tattoos are forever, and let's just say I'd be damned if I went anywhere else but Vintage Karma... Phenomenal diamond in the rough. Hands down the best tattoo shop I've ever been to. Great artists that take the time to have a consultation so they can give you exactly what you want instead of tattooing every Google image people bring in. Great atmosphere and an all around fun place. The shop in the front has the coolest stuff! I own most of the socks they carry! I can't recommend enough to go to these guys got your tattoo and piercing pleasures. You won't be disappointed. If I could give them 40 stars I would. 5 stars for all of them!!! read more

Ainslie is a wonderful artist. I had a large piece done (2 sittings) and she made both sessions great. It's obvious Ainslie loves what she does and what's to be sure her clients are happy as well. Clean shop, and the store is great as well. Laura is very nice and you can find very interesting pieces there as well. Got some great gifts for people and would love to have another piece or two done by Ainslie as well. Definitely recommend looking them up! read more

I went in to find an actual tattoo artist. Ainslie and her crew do original artwork or requests if you come in with an idea. I wanted to have an evil clown tattoo and Ainslie sat down with me in a consultation and we came up with the design. We made the appointment and four hours later, my tattoo was done.
