I wasn't exactly sure what to expect since I hadn't really researched what it really was, but I really liked the whole 'retro-Japanese' noodle bar ambience with wooden stools and old newspapers tacked on the wall. The noodles (soba) themselves were not bad, though I wish I could've tried the udon, and the flavor of the soup base [of the Bukkake] was good! The takoyaki ($2) was good, but I like mine with wasabi, but it was still a treat. Overall, I had a good experience, and the food was good for the price!

Pretty easy to order! I've tried the curry udon and the Mentaiko Bukkake udon. Both were really good! The udon is so soft and flavourful! The curry udon comes with carrots, potatoes and a curry broth. The Mentaiko Bukkake udon comes with soy sauce, seaweed and cod roe. Do not eat the cod roe by itself! It's REALLY salty. It's best to mix it in with the udon. The Takoyaki is pretty yummy! It's soft and has real octopus pieces inside. Water, utensils and napkins are all self-serve. Make sure to return your dishes to the "return dishes" area! Oh and the workers are really nice!

I was drawn in by the Sandwich board out the front of the arcade, promising "Vietnamese Pork Baguette" - Banh Mi! Unfortunately, on arrival, the menu image showed said pork baguette with what appeared to be rounds of Devon ham - so I instead opted for a dry vermicelli salad with grilled pork. The food came quickly but was a little lacking. My pork was grisly and in a big stuck-together clump, whilst the dressing was a little too much on the oil side of the oil to flavour ratio. But it was definitely edible, fresh and satisfactory. Overall, it's alright for a quick lunch meal, but not something I think I really savoured. They also do a range of Asian drinks in the plastic sealed cups, including a yummy coconut juice.

They also do the popular bubble tea and a range of frappes, but when I visited the selection was a bit limited as they were out of quite a few of the flavoured syrups. The two ladies who served me (I got the impression the older one was the mother and the younger one her daughter) were very apologetic and lovely about the whole thing. In the end I settled on the 'peppermint black tea' with 'pearl jelly'. I also picked up a snack, one of their intriguing 'tea leaf eggs', which as the lady described is an egg hard-boiled in tea. While the effect of the tea infusion could be seen in the egg's discolouration, I'm not sure if I could identify the tea flavour on a blind taste. It was yummy though. I'd love to go back and try the noodles and some of their other bain marie treats like their dumplings, whole grilled fish, red bean buns and maybe even chicken feet if I'm feeling adventurous.

Best authentic Chinese in the city…read more Is it a happy coincidence that this place is directly opposite the bus-stop for the main Sunnybank bus? It can be a little tricky to find if you're not specifically looking for it or you're catching a 130, but when you do find it you will be rewarded. They have yum cha stuff in the bain maries including various types of steamed buns and they're the biggest BBQ porn buns I've ever had! They also serve noodles, and meal sets including roast duck or pork. As per habbit when at Chinese eateries, I ordered the roast duck meal set and a pork bun. To be honest, I would've been satisfied with just the pork bun it was that big, but it was good to try more stuff. The roast duck came with succulent duck, a huge bowl of rice, steamed vegetables and a bowl of soup for around $13, the duck was so god damn good, saucy and tender and the meal was excellent value. They shop is extremely authentic and it shows in their customer base; only white guy in the entire dining room ;-). If you're on the ground floor of the myer centre and are going to settle for KFC or McDonald's, walk straight past them and head over for an awesome feed that will fill you up. Ps. It's quite…read morepopular among my friends and I as we have trialled and tested quite a lot of sushi in Brisbane and this sushi train is one of the tastiest dining experiences we've ever had. When you drive or walk by, it does not do much to entice you to come in, the store front can easily go unnoticed. But when you do give this place a go, you'd be thrilled at the discovery of a fantastic sushi bar. There is ample parking at the back, so it's a great place to go for a quick lunch or snack. Compared to others, this sushi bar fills the sushi with plenty of filling, so you are guaranteed to receive one of the thickest and yummiest sushi's in Brissy. Round and round the sushi train goes, and it almost becomes competitive amongst the diners to get the sushi on that train. Not because they lack variety of quantity, just because you want everything that is on that train. After eating here the first time, this quickly became the new favourite sushi spot. You can tell the diners also feel the same way. Plenty are local and I even hear some travelled just because they heard great things about the place. Sakura is a simple sushi train, but no matter how simple the restaurant is, the food is far from simple. Easily up with the best!

It seems that every shopping centre features at least 5 sushi stands these days, each with its own…read morefan club, the irony being that many, if not most, use sushi pre-made off-site, usually the same site (ever wondered why they all kind of taste and look the same? It's not the fault of sushi, believe me). While there's nothing exactly wrong with this, it does make one forget that sushi is, really, delicious art, not just another fast food, food-court option. Sakura reminds one of this fact. Positioned in a somewhat awkward set of corner shops, one may be surprised that the shop itself is shut almost until it opens at 11. But, even if the train is empty when it first starts its circuit, it takes almost no time to fill up with all manner of delicious, and beautiful, goodies. Despite the awkward location, it seems to do very good trade, and not long after we sat down, pretty much every spot around the track was taken. There were a number of items that came around that were vegan, but we did request some items from the menu, including a vegetarian chicken and avocado roll (hold the omelet), and inari. Quite aside from the food (all of which was delicious), I honestly think I could sit there for hours and just watch them make the various items: they grab some rice, mould it, turn it out, add some fillings and then, before you know it, it's coming around the bend on the train. How can it be so quick?! There's a carpark out the back (and downstairs), and there's also quite a bit of on-street parking. Just a note: if coming outbound on Lutwytche Road, there's no dedicated right-turning lane, so if it's busy, it may be easier to go around the block (turn onto Newmarket Road, then take the first right, first right, and then go straight ahead onto Le Geyt St), but if the traffic is quite, you shouldn't have any problems. Otherwise, it's right opposite a busstop that services almost all of the buses that go down Lutwytche Road, and about a 2 minute walk from Windsor train station. Whether you're in the area, or just a lover of sushi trains, Sakura offers a consistently high-quality and delicious experience. Highly recommended.

Despite the long line, the wait was really quite short and pretty soon we all found ourselves inside. The register staff were all super friendly, the menu was easy to decipher and the interior was spacious and well planned. We all ordered the rice noodle bowl with lemongrass beef as an introductory meal, and snagged a spot at one of their sidewalk tables. The meal was satisfactory, with a nice amount of noodles dressed in Vietnamese sauce, an assortment of lightly picked veg and greenery, and protein (which was a bit overcooked but still flavourful). We perused the menu while we ate, all agreeing that the other dishes seemed interesting and very well priced. I definitely look forward to trying out some of their other selections, and in general am happy that Roll'd has been added as another option to the lunchtime run.
