I came here on accident. I actually meant to walk into Rice, Paper, Scissors on my lunch break but clearly the heat and humidity of Brisbane got to my head that day and I found myself two doors down.
Well, I couldn't walk out at that point when the cute Asian man holding a wok greeted me. I was pretty surprised at the large menu on the board, a little bit more surprised at the prices ($10-14 for meals.) oh well, I decided. I was at the point of hangryness and a teriyaki meal sounded perfect.
I had a hard decision between the Teriyaki chicken and the pad Thai but I decided to really broaden my horizons and go with the teriyaki ;)
Mind you, I was the only person in here. The old man was the only cook. I was cool with that.
The man didn't speak English very well but was very pleasant. He put up a "5" with his hands! Awesome! only 5 more minutes of hangryness.
I watched as all the fresh veggies, noodles, and chicken were cooked in the wok. It smelled delicious.
5 minutes was pretty accurate. I walked out paying $18, $13 for the meal (large) and a drink.
The large box was actually too much, I stuffed my face and still had leftovers. The taste was alright, the chicken was a little bit dry but still edible. Then again, I wasn't in a very picky mood.
Because this place is right up the road from my work, I'll definitely come back on another lunch break and give some other items a try! read more
