I only recently heard about Menya Mappen Noodle Bar, because I overheard friends raving on about how cheap it is for what you get. Upon learning of its cheapness, I was determined to try it out for myself.
I was a little confused at how to order in the beginning, but luckily I had my friend instructing me on what I need to do. Stand here. Choose food. Order here. Do you want tempura? Slide to your right. I suppose it is an easy process, so heads up for the newbies who plan on visiting, order at the counter!
As mentioned in previous reviews they've got udon and soba noodles in soup combinations. But they've also got rice dishes. Sadly, not enough but you can have an egg They came in sizes small, medium and large and since I wasn't feeling particularly hungry that night, I ordered the small. For about $4.80 I got a bowl of rice topped with some beef. Nothing fancy, just rice and thinly sliced beef pieces. As I slid to my right, I picked up Prawn Tempura (mmm.... batter) and a Lychee drink in a can. As I got to the counter ready to pay, it turned out to be so cheap, I decided to pay for my friends meal too! Altogether I paid $14.60 for dinner for two! Let's just hope my friend doesn't think I'm too cheap.
At the end of the counter you can get water and what I originally thought was green tea, turned out to be Tempura sauce, so be careful otherwise you'll find it's an awfully sweet tasting tea. Good sauce though! read more
