TL;DR/The Short Version: Popular place selling banh mi and…read moreother Vietnamese food, as well as bubble tea. Banh mi and bubble tea were good. The Long Version: My husband and I stopped here for lunch on our most recent trip to Laval. They have a lunch combo for $12.50 for the banh mi of the day, a spring roll and a drink (bottle of water or a can of soda). You can upgrade your drink to a bubble tea for an additional $5. It was a Friday, so the banh mi of the day was the Traditional, which is essentially mixed cold cuts. We got a combo each. My husband got a bottle of water and I upgraded my drink to a bubble che (more on that later). You get a choice of a chicken spring roll or a vegetarian spring roll. We both chose the former. They bake their bread on-site and the bread is a legit banh mi baguette crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The banh mi was good, but the pork belly was sooooo fatty. I know some people like this, but I do not. I had to pick it out. It comes with different Vietnamese cold cuts including the one that is made of pork belly, pickled carrots, daikon radish and cucumbers as well as pâté, Vietnamese mayo (which is more like an aioli) and cilantro. We asked them to hold the cilantro, but they forgot. Not a big deal for us because it was easy to pick out. Just wastage on their part. Other than the fatty pork belly, I enjoyed the sandwich. The spring roll was hot and crispy and had ground chicken and vegetables in it. We chose sweet and sour dipping sauce, but there's the option for fish sauce as well. The bubble che is like a cross between bubble tea and the Vietnamese dessert che. It was chock-full of toppings which I loved. It had tapioca pearls, coconut jelly, grass jelly, red beans and toasted peanuts and coconut milk. It was really rich with a lot of different textures. I felt the amount of peanuts was excessive for my tastes and the crunchiness was bordering on weird. However, the toasted peanuts added this toasty smell to the drink which I oddly liked. I might request less peanuts next time. Definitely a drink for those already familiar with Vietnamese che or for the adventurous. I can see how it would not be to everyone's taste. Staff were courteous. There was a bit of a wait because they were very busy with orders, including lots of food delivery app orders. Sandwich makers wore gloves, which I appreciated. They also sell vermicelli or rice bowls and noodle soups. They have a small selection of imported Asian snacks, candies, ramen packages and bubble tea ingredients. They have an area to eat-in too. They are located in a small plaza and there is free parking in the plaza parking lot. Review #91 (2025)

Laval

At the time, I thought the bubble tea at L2 was the bee's knees, because there weren't many places around that made bubble tea and the places that did exist mostly used just powders not even real tea, and they were usually gritty. Now that I've had teas at places like Presotea, Sharetea, and Chatime (i.e. chains that originated in Asia), I have to say that the bubble tea at L2 is just ok. Nonetheless, I was excited to see an L2 Lounge at Carrefour Laval, partially because it reminded me of my friend who I rarely see anymore. I had a Small Lychee Milk Green Tea ($3.50) with tapioca pearls ($0.50) with half sugar. I have to say that half sugar was just the right amount of sweetness for me. The tea had a mild lychee flavour and it was sufficiently milky, but the tapioca pearls were not that great. They weren't chewy enough in my opinion. This location also sells macarons from Point G. I got a pina colada one ($1.85). It was good, but not great. The pineapple coconut flavour was not intense enough and it was really small. It wasn't stale, but I've had much fresher macarons. Staff were nice and service was quick and efficient. In my opinion, the bubble tea at L2 is much better than other North-American originated chains like Freshly Squeezed and Tea Shop 168. I get the impression that Laval does not have many decent bubble tea places, so until Laval gets a Presotea, Sharetea or Chatime, I think L2 might be your best bet.

Just ok for the taste and price..best ones are frozen ones!!! Taro and honeydew bear flavours!!…read moreOriginal
