We stopped by while going to nearby Old Montreal and happened to walk into Chinatown. I wanted to see what Chinatown in Montreal was like and truly got an idea for it. It's busy and all the stores are bustling and open crazy late -- just like this spot. This spot is open 24/7, which is unheard of in the other Chinatowns that I've been to in my life. We tried Presotea near our hotel so right away we had an idea of which bubble tea shop was considered higher-end/pricier. This spot was definitely for the cost-saving person who just wants a quick fix of bubble tea. The difference between the two is obvious. I ordered regular milk tea with the QQ topping. I like the QQ topping (which is nata de coco jelly with regular tapioca). It's half lychee jelly and half black pearls. The bubbles did not have the flavor that the Presotea bubbles had. Chatime is simply plain with no taste in their bubbles, which is fine. Tea-wise - I could not immediately tell the difference. However, in the end, each shop is meant for two different people.

The matcha wasn't bitter, and the creaminess paired so well with the chewy red bean bits. A must-try if you love authentic matcha drinks. I could have gotten a large for $0.50 more and the guy at the cash said it's about 200ml more. The large is a better deal for sure, but when I'm on vacation I try to always reserve some stomach space in the event that I come across some must eat snacks, lol. I like that they sweeten their tea with honey instead of sugar. I got 30% sweet and 30% ice since it was December and already cold outside. The ice level was perfect for the weather. It was quiet when we walked in, and there was an external vendor near the entrance selling cakes (I believe..not too sure as the vendor did not look up from his phone as we walked in). We went ahead to the bubble tea counter and we decided on trying the Red Bean Milk Smoothie ($4.50, small, +$0.50 for pearls). When I ordered the Red Bean Milk Smoothie, the barista at the counter clarified and asked if I wanted the Red Bean Matcha Smoothie (which is blended red bean and matcha) or just the Red Bean Milk Smoothie (which is red bean blended with milk). I opted for the Red Bean Milk Smoothie as I could not really imagine what blended up matcha and red bean would taste like. We got our drink relatively quick- the red bean tasted fresh and authentic and it had just the right amount of sweetness. However, I found that the drink had a little too much ice in it, and made the drink very crunchy as we had to chew through the ice bits. Furthermore, the pearls weren't too fresh and it tasted a little stale/old. I think next time, I would just stick with the good ol' bubble tea chain shops (like Chatime that is not too far from this shop) as they usually have a higher chance of providing fresh pearls due to their turnover rates while compared to this local bubble tea shop.

A lot of them are on the sugary side (hence the name of the place). Much like all bubble tea place, you can request less/more ice and sugar. I tried the passion fruit qq with green tea. It was ok. It's not because it's not good, it's just not flavor I really like and other options wasn't calling me at the moment. My girlfriends tried it and loved it. You can easily access it from the outside but parking can be tricky if it's crowded, as the on-street parking is very limited , otherwise I believe you can park indoors for free if you have a proof of purchase. If you like bubble tea you'll very pleased with the selection here, there's many unique additions I haven't found everywhere, like espresso pearls, mochi, pudding or "tiger cheese" which is like a creamy mousse. There's a large screen with pictures of all the drinks so get a good idea of what to order if it's your first time. We went on a sunday afternoon and the place was pretty empty, service was pleasant and fast - the employees took their time to explain the drinks and offered custormized service (ie, sugar/ice). I got the chocolate oreo drink and the premium brown sugar bobba with pudding and jelly - they were extremely tasty. Only drawback is the high price - these are definitely the most expensive bubble teas I've ever ordered, for 2 drinks it came close to $22. There's a regular or large size, but both seem to be on the small side. The cups are very narrow and you are not getting as much beverage compared ot other chains. Great menu, great product, but because of the high price and small portion, taking away a star. Also keep in mind accessibility issues with parking when it's crowded - it'll be tough to find a spot.

As a regular reader of yelp reviews I come often upon those for tea/boba shops and it's always a mystery to me how anyone knows what to order. The menus in these type of places are just plain confusing for someone who doesn't regularly consume these drinks. Shuyi's is no exception. But here's a secret: based on my random order one can't go wrong here even if one has no idea what it is they're ordering. Here at Shuyi Tealicious I ordered up something with Strawberry and Boba and drank it while sharing a nearby bench with an amusing bronze sculpture. That drink was so satisfying that it was done before my stomach knew it and I had to fight an urge to head back inside for drink #2. Yes, I was that dehydrated. These drinks are extremely satisfying, especially if you don't want to be overfilled while staring at art for the next few hours. I might not know anything about this type of place but I did like it a lot and it served to satisfy my craving.

It was like drinking a hot chocolat with sugar syrup in it. There's a lot of choice, and so far I love everything I tried. I recommend coming here. I got 30% ice and it was plenty cold. This drink comes with tapioca pearls, sago, and grass jelly by default. The amount of toppings was satisfactory. Service was efficient but while not rude, not all that friendly. Kind of abrupt and brusque. Oh well, at least the drink was good and I got it quickly, lol. There are a few seats to hang out but we took the drinks to go. They have some claw machines but you win free drinks, not plushies or toys. I usually like to try new-to-me bubble tea shops when I'm traveling, but they lured me in with their BOGO special.
