I had such high hopes for a fun adventure...but it wasn't all that I had expected according to the website information. After I arrived and my teenage grandson and I looked around at the animals, this was what I found. As for the animals, first of all, I felt so bad for the large cat that was in a "TINY" enclosure, where all he could do was pace back and forth...so very sad! The alligator didn't have room to roam around, and the water in the most of the ponds around the park were green. The lemurs and the monkey's looked the happiest and had big outdoor cages. The two bears(brown and black), and Tiger's each had a larger outdoor fenced in area and lots of room to roam, that was nice. There were a lot of animals that were advertised on the website, that were no longer there...like, Camel, Lion, Llama, Deer, Otters, Emu. The website needs to update this information, so people won't be disappointed when they don't see the animals there after they arrive. The animal encounter was nice, and the girl's that shared them were lovely. They were the "bright spot" of our trip there. As for the overnight "experience" in the African Hut "overlooking a lagoon, with torch light on the outside patio, where you could hear the lions roar at night", well, there was no lagoon, it had dried up, and since there were no Lion's, there was nothing to listen to at night. That was an experience we had been looking forward to having. The hut was nice inside, but the A/C couldn't keep up with the heat outside, it just never got cool enough to sleep well. So we slept together in the large bed downstairs. The loft was just too hot to sleep in. There is a few things that would help for future guests. Put the water on the hot/cold water cooler, it was just sitting in the chair, and I had recent surgeries on my hand, so could not lift it myself, or I would have done it. Please put cups in the room. Also, have some small bars of soap and shampoo in the bathroom, that would help. The rock floor in the bathroom has a sharp area, that needs to be fixed. Hurts to walk on it barefoot. Lastly, there is a loose board on the wrap around porch that has nails sticking up from it. The owner, Bill, honored our reservation(even though I had forgotten I had cancelled it earlier . My brother had died, and I didn't think I would be able to get back in time(tough time emotionally for me). I had asked for a confirmation of my reservation 6 days before I was to drive the 3hrs there, and they went ahead and sent that to me. There was no mention of the cancellation on that paper, so assumed all was still ok for the reservation. Emotionally it was hard when I got there, and he said it was not available. I thank him for still letting us get the African hut(even though he had to move his friend's reservation to the following night). Bill's heart is in the right place, but just has way too much to care for there, and not enough men there to help him get everything done, to bring Tiger Safari up to the standards I know he wants! I also heard they had a tornado hit in the area, and so he has even more work to do after that. I wish you nothing but the best in restoring you Tiger Safari to the place I know you want it to be! Thank you! read more
