Husband and I are celebrating our 6 year wedding anniversary and wanted to spontaneously get some ring-finger tattoos. It's been a rough year with losing his mother to cancer, buying a house in a rough market, and the ups and downs of normal life. We chose Tiger Rose Tattoo for their reviews and their ability to do walk-ins was a huge factor. The gentleman who took our initial information was super sweet and kind, it was a $150 minimum but I figured it would be worth it to have quality work done. After putting our names down we came back 30 min or so later & I can't remember our artist but he was in the back corner. We were told before getting our tattoos that the fingers are a different type of skin so rather than doing a line all the way around, it was only on the top. Sounded reasonable enough so we went with his advice. This was my third tattoo so I opted to go first, he did a pretty decent job shaving my finger, cleaning me off, and getting me situated. Took all of 5 minutes and then it was my husbands turn. He got two lines vs I only got one. He didn't have his finger shaved, he also took about 5 minutes and then we got wrapped up, paid $300 for three simple lines total... which is a bit nuts, but we paid and were off on our way. This was on Dec 31st, it's been 2 weeks now and we're not thrilled with the results. It literally looks like someone took a fine tip sharpie and drew two lines on my husbands finger. On the left side of my ringer finger, there's a chunk missing where black ink should be. It's truly absurd how much we paid and we'll have to find a better artist to help either make the lines thicker or just forget the whole idea and have it removed. This was my husbands first tattoo experience and I'm livid with his results. Do not do walkins here... I wouldn't trust them to do any of my other tattoos. read more

Best place to get a tattoo, hands down! The artists here (special shout out to Jeff!) are amazing! They specialize in clean lines, shading and bright colors! They have walk ins 6 days a week and are closed on Sundays. My friends and I often opt to do the walk in but you should try to arrive a bit before open, depending on the day, because the wait could be up to 2-3 hours. Making an appointment is also super easy! Find the business on instagram, check out the artists work, and DM the person you want to schedule with. Went in for a walk in to get a half dollar sized simple starfish outline behind my ear and 4 blacked out stars. I've had tattoos before and have never been charge this much- All together 300$. If the tattoos were top quality I would not complain, however the stars aren't even blacked out all the way and look pretty blown out. Also should be healed however the tattoo might've been too deep and left scarring as I properly took care of it during healing. I don't have any problems with the starfish but will definitely have to have work to fix the stars. read more

Got a tattoo here and I could tell from the beginning the artist wasn't really enthusiastic about doing what I wanted in the first place , I decided to do it anyway because it was gonna be small and I wasn't too worried about it but within a day the tattoo blew out. When I went to another artist for an opinion, they said it was poorly done and a result of the artist going to deep. I called and asked if there was anything I could/should do and never heard back. I tried to reach out multiple times and no one responded to my texts and I'm out of town so I could not go back. Horrible customer service. Would not recommend read more

My grandma passed away this morning and I thought it would be great to get a tattoo of something special that I'd been planning for a while, to honor her. I came in and the receptionist was so incredibly kind and helpful. The artist however, blonde short hair and tall, was so rude to me. It was truly the worst I've ever been treated by anyone at an establishment. I've never experienced this type of behavior in public in front of other people. Not only did he talk over me telling me what I "do and don't want", he also wouldn't let me plan out my second tattoo because he didn't think that I could "handle" more than one (I have several tattoos, and I absolutely can handle it). He didn't look at me when he was explaining his "art" (which was an iPad tracing the photo that I airdropped him). He looked at the kind receptionist and said "can you reiterate to her in different words?" implying that I wasn't understanding his "feedback". I understood. I just asked to move forward with a different drawing if that one wasn't possible. It was so hostile that I started crying in the middle of the shop. That's when he looked at me in the face and told me that it's "not smart" to get a tattoo when you're so emotional about something. Anyone looking for a passionate and kind artist that is true to the craft, shouldn't come here. I refuse to believe any man should treat anyone this way. This place is amazing. I have scheduled all my appointments as I decided to take the leap and go for a full sleeve. A friend recommended Spence so I met with him and we got to work. He does awesome work and knows his stuff. My advice is listen to your artist and ask what they think. He will let you know if it will turn out good from placement to design and detail. And he is right! We finished up one sleeve and it turned out better than I thought! We are already working on a 2nd sleeve. Everyone there is great to interact with, they have been welcoming and created a friendly atmosphere. Tiger Rose continues to impress me over and over again. Kyle Skyer does amazing traditional tattoos, but i wanted something more realistic, and he exceeded my expectations. He's engaging through the entire process. He was supportive about all of my ideas and integrated all of them beautifully. This one is a bit of a personal review for me. I have known Metal Mike forever. Not only is he a great artist, but he is one of the best people I know. My wife and I live in New Orleans, but wait until MPLS trips to get tattooed by Mike. His shop is laid back, but he really cares about the quality of the work he puts out. However, he is not one of those elitist artists that will tell you what he will and won't tattoo. The shop is also clean and comfortable. If you've been wanting some fresh ink, don't hesitate. I walked in here to get pierced on a whim during Art-A-Whirl, and I wish I had gone sooner! Hanna is now my official go-to for anything piercing related. I have plans of many more holes being added to my body, and I love how excited she gets whenever I talk about ideas with her! Tiger Rose is a great shop. They do walk-ins & custom work, and they have a number of really solid artists who care a lot about their work. It's one of the cleanest shops i have ever been in, and if you're a woman looking for a tattoo, you're not going to be subject to a bunch of stupid, leering bullshit. I have only had work done by Metal Mike. I really like his work, and have returned to have 4 tattoos done by him. And really - that should tell you everything you need to know about my opinion of his work. I personally have not had work done by Kyle Skyer, but he also does great work and is all-around great guy. We never actually got tattooed, but we were taken aback by the customer service. They assured us that if we ran some errands, they'd give us a call when it was our time for a walk in, just for a couple little tattoos. Three hours later, I called back to inquire how much longer we should wait because there were three of us hoping to get tattooed and the shop closed in two hours. The man on the phone was rude and talked to me like I was stupid, and told me to wait for a call. Two hours later, nothing, not even to let us know that they wouldn't have the space for us tonight and to come back tomorrow, since we were already on the list with our ideas and phone number. read more

I could not have been happier with my first tattoo experience! I walked in with a very vague idea of what I wanted, and walked out 2 hours later with an amazing piece of art on my back! Spencer did an amazing job! He helped me plan what I really wanted out of the tattoo, and asked me what price I was aiming for. I've been to many tattoo shops that have made me feel very uncomfortable. For many years I put off receiving a tattoo, for fear of being judged and looked down on (a feeling I have felt many times in a shop while with relatives or friends). My experience at Tiger Rose has been the complete opposite of my experiences in the past! Everyone at Tiger Rose are welcoming, and super genuine/down to earth! My mom and I were in Minneapolis for a family thing and decided to get tattoos. Yelp led us here and I'm glad it did. The place was clean, the wait wasn't too long (we arrived relatively early in the afternoon on a Saturday), the prices were fair, and the tattoos came out great. One of the artists was a little snippy/a little less than super friendly to the girl who worked there (Assistant? Receptionist? She was very sweet and helpful), but he may have been having a bad day.
