The other employees pitched in after awhile in the most "great, you're making me do something....ugh" manner which all due respect...I don't have to spend money here, and if I leave kind of regretting it, won't happen again. The staff were all very friendly and consistent with the covid regulations. I was very impressed with their customer service and desire to provide the best experience possible! I went to get my naval pierced for the second time and prior to piercing it my Piercer said she thought the old piercing was still slightly open so she tapered it back to a naval gauge size. She told me doing this would be better in the long run as repiercing the scar tissue can sometimes lead to more tissue buildup and not looking as aesthetically pleasing. The services I required ended up being cheaper than what they planned but it made me feel good that she was more focused on giving me the best care vs making the most money! I had my rook pierced about a week and a half ago at a different establishment and earlier today, the bottom screw of the curved barbell came off! So I stopped by Almost Famous in north east to get it screwed back in since it's in a very difficult to reach position. I had the pleasure of having Maggie help me and she was super friendly! She kept it very clean and sterile and it took about a minute for the entire process! She even positioned the piercing the way I wanted it and cleaned the area. I can tell she did a good job in tightening the jewelry and I feel so much better knowing it won't come off again! I plan on coming back in 6 months to switch out the jewelry once it's healed :) read more

My experience with Almost Famous was great. I went on a Saturday a little after they opened and was helped immediately. I love how clean and bright the lobby area is, a lot different than going to a tattoo and piercing shop. I wanted to take advantage of their buy one get one free, so I got my nose and ear pierced. My piercer was Maggie and she was great. I wasn't exactly sure where to get pierced on my ear, so she gave me 3 different options. I went with her recommendation, which I ended up loving much more than the original place I was thinking. Maggie was very professional and had a nice calm energy. The entire process was quick, but not painless. Turns out I'm a baby when it comes to piercings :) I think some of the reviews on here are super unfair to this place. Most didn't even get pierced here. Yes street parking is going to be a challenge, welcome to Minneapolis. If you don't come prepared with the right documents they aren't going to be able to pierce you. That's a good thing. I believe most of the google reviews and 5 star reviews are fake, just to try to make business look good. Bad Customer Service, Highly unprofessional; A friend and I both got piercings together. If I wanted to have the experience of the aftermath you may get from a spontaneous freelancer, I wouldve look for the nearest alley and did it with a rusty nail. I had my nose, cartilage, and belly button all pierced here. I had a great experience with my nose and cartilage and still have those two today. The place is really clean and an average price. The only complaint I have is that when I got my belly button pierced, she pierced it too far and gave me jewelery that was too short, so it ended up digging into my skin. By the time I got jewelry that was long enough, the damage had been done and it never healed quite right and I ended up taking it out and just letting it scar over. I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty bummed about that experience. However, I would still come back because 2/3 is pretty good odds for the price they charge. read more

I had a great experience this weekend at Almost Famous Body Piercing. My boyfriend and I decided that we wanted to have our noses pierced and we are so happy we found this place. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable when it came to the piercing and helping us pick out our jewelry. A big bonus is that they have two for one deals on piercings, so we did not have to pay full price! On Monday my boyfriend's nose ring needed to be adjusted and we had to go back in to the shop. My roommate and I got piercings there a couple weeks ago, and there really was nothing wrong with the piercings. But the issue was everything leading up to getting them-- we showed up when they told us to come on the phone a few days prior, and once we got there, there weren't any slots open for another 3 hours, which I guess really wasn't their fault, just annoying. We got there right at the beginning of our first appointment and did not end up getting pierced for another hour and 15 minutes. There is nowhere to sit around and wait in there, so we were just walking around the store for forever and it was, for some reason, about 80 degrees in there. By the time I was ready to get pierced, I was light headed and very frustrated. There was no communication with us for how long the wait was going to be, leaving us on edge for a really long time. The piercer was super friendly and sanitary and I love my piercing, but the experience was really annoying in general. I guess you need to anticipate that when places like this are walk-in only. read more

I use to go Fraidy Cats' piercing but they moved to Saint Paul; therefore, I decided to give this place a shot regardless the low review on it. Can I remind you guys how important reviews are?! Well, I was on my way to Almost Famous Piercing in MPLS. I had to drive around the block 3 times to just find parking available. Red lights and everything, went around the entire building 3 times. I almost just drove off just by how complicated parking was. I finally found parking. I got in. It looks really professional and nice. The associate was busy with another customer. The piercer came out, no smile or anything, but she still helped got me started on my forms. Cool. I forgot to give her my I.d so she looked straight at me with no expression and said, "I still need your I.d." Her expression caused Everyone in that room to turn and looked at me as if I did something wrong! I was going to get charge $72 for a nose pierce. It's more pricy than other places but whatever. I started looking at nose pierce jeweleries and asked the associate if my jewelry was the same as those. She explained it and I see why it's not. I WAITED FOR 30 minutes. That's no problem. BUT WHY ARE THERE NO CHAIRS????? I really hope you guys put out chairs for waiting customers LIKE EVERY OTHER PROFESSIONAL PLACES. I'm sitting on a chair right now at FRAIDY CATS PIERCING WHILE IM WRITING THIS! Lol. Anyways, I have high heels on. My feet was hurting so I put my elbows on their jewelry glass cabinet to lean a little bit. The associate angrily said, "You can't lean on that!" I moved immediately. What she could've said was, "Sorry, but we ask for customers not to lean on that to prevent ___________." AND SMILE! Startled me, damn it. I was getting iffy about this place. Pricey and I'm uncomfortable. So, I wanted to go into my car and think about it if I want to do business with them. It's more of if I'm comfortable with them now or not. She refused for me to leave and told me that she wasn't willing to do that. "we're a first come first serve store, you'll loose your spot." Honestly, I was debating if I wanted to continue my business with them. I mean, you're gonna poke a hole through my nose and here ya are testing my trust. I wanted to go into my car and RELAX and CONVINCE myself to give ya another chance. But her last reaction just helped me with my decision: cancel my appointment. I drove all the way to St. Paul to Fraidy cats and SHE WAS WONDERFUL. She gave me the service, run down and interactions that Staff at Almost Famous couldn't even get close to. Took my 8-yr-old daughter here to have her ears pierced. Pierced them with a gun and her one ear was pierced at a very crooked angle. Ultimately had to remove the earring and have the ear re-pierced. This time, the earring was positioned better, but now the back has moved and is once again off-center. They didn't warn us about migration and none of this would have happened if their piercer Maggie had done it properly in the first place. They want to charge me $50 to re-do just the one ear. My 8-yr-old, who begged to have her ears pierced, is super traumatized. Went to Saint Sabrina's - yes, I'll be paying them for the pericing and new jewelry - and they were so much more knowledgeable. They spoke directly to my daughter and re-assured her. We have to wait until her ear heals, but I have confidence they will help us. They noted that her other ear wasn't pierced quite right either, but they wouldn't recommend going through the trauma of re-piercing it. My 8-yr-old has decided that a better name for this place is "Almost Horrible." read more

I stopped in after work one afternoon to get my naval done, and I was in and out under 20 minutes (including the paperwork bit). Everything was aboveboard - paperwork, equipment removed from its sterile packaging in front of me, etc. The front desk gal was super nice, and so was my piercer. I went into the mall of america for a Christmas party and ran across this store. The piercings themselves are over priced even with the bogo "deal". You have to pay for jewelry and cleaning products you may or may not even use. At a tattoo shop jewelry is included for half the price. I still chose to get several piercings. My issue came about when my piercing began to heal incorrectly. The ball began to dig into my skin creating it's own hole. I returned to the shop about a week later and was told by my piercer this issue. Her reply was that there isn't any larger jewelry for my navel and that she knows the piercing isn't healing properly. The piercer then excused herself to call the store manager who was not in store nor did she answer. The piercer took down my information and assured me the manager would contact me as soon as she could. That never happened! Another week went past and I finally called the store again. The manager, Liz, was there and told me there was nothing she could do besides have me purchase additional jewelry after I already spent $200+!! Also the jewelry she would have me purchase is not even a navel piece! The manager stated I'd have to purchase a horseshoe which she'd have to manipulate to fit. I told her this was unacceptable! I asked for another manager and was told she couldn't give me her information. I explained I had to wait over a week to even get in contact with the store manager so I will not wait for a higher manager to contact me, which probably wont happen as well. Liz then told me to call the Champaign location and ask for Amanda. I followed directions and contacted Amanda. Amanda then told me I'd have to purchase additional jewelry which is my only option. I explained that my piercer told me there is not larger jewelry. Amanda said I probably spoke to a clerk who doesnt do piercings. I explained I spoke to the same exact woman who pierced me and Liz. Amanda stated it's in the paperwork I signed and my recipient for no refunds or returns on jewelry. This is incorrect. There's literally nothing on my receipt besides the printout of items purchased and the amount I paid. The release form also only says no refund on jewelry, which I understand because of sanitation. I have had several piercings at the Mankato location and will not return. I had 3 dermals done on my chest and the piercer used nothing to line them up and now they line up in a curve. I went in less than a month ago and had the tops changed on my dermals and one top fell off in less than a month. They would not put on a new one free of charge.
