This is a must-visit for diner enthusiasts. The building sits on the north-south main thoroughfare…read morethrough historic downtown Farmville, an area once lined with tobacco warehouses. It is very small, with about fifteen stools wrapping around a classic service counter. According to the menu, the diner is a "One-Master Model 15-Stool Valentine steel building," made by Valentine Manufacturing Company of Wichita, Kansas, in 1955. They have a small parking lot in back of the diner. I parked there and then saw a bathroom entrance sign -- after a 2 1/2-hour trip, nature was calling. It is a very clean bathroom located at the rear of the building, with a separate entrance from the parking lot. There is no access to the restroom from inside the diner -- a unique and nostalgic feature you don't see much anymore. I walked around to the front of the building, entered, sat down on a stool, and was greeted with, "Y'all having a good day so far?" I had a half sweet/half unsweet tea and the Cheeseburger Deluxe with no mayonnaise. It came with lettuce, tomato, pickle chips, onions, French fries, and cole slaw. I put ketchup on the fries, but the fresh tomato alone provided plenty of flavor for the juicy, delicious burger. The French fries were crispy and delicious -- exactly what you hope for at a classic diner. The cole slaw was outstanding and clearly tasted homemade. The pies looked incredible, and because the cheeseburger platter was so good, I had a piece of blueberry buttermilk cake topped with whipped cream -- wow! There is also a clearly posted 3% surcharge if paying with a credit card. Prices are reasonable, so it didn't feel like an issue. This was a great overall experience, and I would recommend this classic, nostalgic mid-20th-century diner to anyone traveling through Farmville. It closes at 2 pm, so plan accordingly!

Thank you for another wonderful dinner during our visit from Pennsylvania. The chicken cheese steak…read morewas amazing as always, and big enough for my wife and I to split. We have dinner at your establishment every time we are in the area visiting my parents. Thank you especially for the slice of cheesecake accompanied by a rendition of "Happy Birthday" for my dad who celebrated a milestone birthday. Love your restaurant, the 70s/80s music which brings back great memories, and your great customer service. See you next time!!!

I had originally planned a stop in Charlotte Courthouse but, driving past Cruis-In Cafe in Keysville, I said, "I bet that place has a hot dog." And they did! When we visited for a late lunch they were doing good business. The inside was slightly dark but it was wonderfully decorated with many touches for Halloween. The woman taking care of us was really kind and friendly. We each ordered a hot dog. Mine with their creamy cheese sauce and spicy chili. My friend got hers with creamy cheese sauce, onion, and jalapenos. We shared a basket of onion rings. The food came out quickly and everything was very hot. My friend appreciated they they were fresh jalapenos (not pickled). The chop on both the jalapenos and the onions was a little big for me but she enjoyed hers. The spicy chili did have nice heat. It was a very dry chili and was a soup chili with veggies and beans (as opposed to a hot dog chili). We both agreed that the creamy cheese sauce was pretty thin and didn't have a ton of flavor. The onion rings were great. We got a brownie to enjoy in the car on our drive back to North Carolina. Overall, the friendly service, the tasty onion rings, and the brownie were a highlight.

Brian was our server both times, and he even remembered what we ordered on our previous visit--a level of hospitality that's hard to find. I had the salmon, which was cooked perfectly, and my wife happily ordered the crab cakes again because they were just as delicious as she remembered. P.S. Don't leave without trying the Dreamsicle cheesecake--it was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal!
