You can find several trendy pieces in here which is great for an independent outlet with a mixed price range. Friends or relatives can lounge in the large comfy sofa's whilst they wait., or just admire the store & furniture. I'd recommend The Candy Store to anyone visiting Birmingham. Spend some time in here and you will find something that catches your eye. The staff are very helpful, and also told me about the tailoring on some of the t-shirts I was admiring. Worth a visit!!

Established in 2007 The Candy Store has been a beacon in independent street brands, stocking items that might not appear on any other high street rail. Stocking some of the best street brands in the world such as: 10 Deep The Hundreds Jilted royalty (owners brand) Crooks & Castles Diamond supply Fame Benny Gold The shop itself is slick and tidy; each brand has its own section/rails with select items laid on shelves to catch attention. There are some cool bikes and a great sound system in there always playing interesting and fresh urban music. Though it can sometimes be hard to tell the staff apart from the people hanging in the store, everyone has been friendly and happy to help whenever I have been in. An independent urban clothing store could be quite intimidating for a mom to pop into to buy her kid something, I've seen It happen, but the staff here have all the time in the world for anyone who might not have the insider knowledge on what's cool and what's not. The prices range from £15 for a tshirt upto £85 for a shirt it all depends on the brand/season of the item that you have selected. They take card and have an online store too. The sales are known to be really good so keep checking back at their website and inshore. http://www.thecandystoreclothing.com/

It's a store of miscellaneous goods that couldn't sell elsewhere that are sold here at a huge discount, but probably still more than they are worth. However I did happen to snap up a pair of golf shoes from here, so that I could pursue my occasional pastime without looking like a complete amateur. This some what redeemed Big Save in my eyes, there's no guarantee that you will find anything of value to you, however you might just be there at the time they have something in that you wouldn't find anywhere else. From DIY tools to stationery to lunchboxes to toilet rolls, these are some of things that are on offer here. So if you don't fancy going shopping at high retailer stores, this shop could be what you are looking for. In these difficult economic times, people will be trying to save as much money as possible and there are plenty of bargains to be snapped up here. The staff are friendly and you can have plenty of banter with them. The customers I saw at The Bargain Store were able to have a conversation with the staff and so was I. You get along with the staff so easily but the most important thing is the fact there are plenty of items here at cheap prices.

I hope they can maintain a decent quality whilst keeping price down to a minimum. I worry ethically about cheap products and the exploitation of Third World labour. I was pleased to find out that a great deal of the products on sale were made in Birmingham. I hope that the people that manufacturer the products on sale here give their employees a fair wage. If they do I will be more than happy to keep buying these products.

This store popped up in the place of Argos last year in the Priory Square shopping area. This area…read moreis the home to many a useful shop (including a Holland and Barrett, a whole food store, jewellery shops and a butchers); but having a B&M makes it even handier if you are in need of getting some household bits and pieces. I popped in yesterday to look for some easels in which to display pictures on. I spotted it as I was walking back from Millennium Point (to be honest, I knew it had opened but hadn't been in before) and thought "I'll just have a quick mooch". This place is HUGE. It's not surprising considering the old unit used to be an Argos shop (with it's massive storage area for goods), but it did knock me for six when I walked inside. If you've been to a B&M before, you'll know the kind of goods it stocks. Everything from furniture to garden products, food to toys but on a much larger scale than some of the branches I have visited. I was pretty impressed with the amount of linen (bed and bathroom) and decorations (frames, pictures, lamps and accessories) as well as the price and general quality of the items. Many of the items stocked are much, much cheaper than you might find elsewhere on the high street too. I spotted lots of name brand tinned goods at knock down prices (think Heinz - 3 for £1 etc) and lots of world foods that you might struggle to find elsewhere. I imagine this place is a bit of a haven for students, but when I visited there was a mix of people perusing the goods. The store is kept fairly tidy (considering the size), but you might want to have a rummage if you are looking for a bargain as there are a few "clearance sections" littered around the place. You aren't going to get posh towels, bed spreads and prints here... But if you're looking for a cheap and cheerful option for storage, a stopgap solution to brighten up your walls or some food to stock the cupboards you could do worse than popping into B&M.

Meaning: You MUST go there to…read morefind out that everything you buy, from cleaning products to booze is cheaper than anywhere else. As a (confessed) creature addicted to candles, I see this B&M like a the mecca of candles where, I have to stop by AT LEAST once a week (yes, I know) to restock my collection. The price, my friend, the price is what makes me keep going. Well, the quality as well. They smell lovely and for £3.99 you bring back home a giant rustic candle.(Oh, yes!) I buy all my cleaning products from B&M. Same brands you find at your favourite supermarket, but cheaper. All of them. Believe me. Booze is also cheaper i am not talking about cheap alcohol. I just noticed they are bringing more and more craft beers to the shop and they are not expensive like in your off license. Dark chocolate for 99p and the same brand of tuna you find in your supermarket for less than 3 quids are enough reason to go back always. If your house needs some improvement and you don`t want to spend loads of money at posh department stores, B&M it's. I`m sure that with a bit of creativity nobody will see it was cheap because it`s obviously NOT a House of Fraseur but it`s also a bit far from being a Poundland. If you know what I mean. It`s a huge shop and you may think it`s very popular but I never spent more than 5 minutes waiting to be served. The staffs is pretty quick and efficient.

The inside of the shop is nothing fancy time looks as though it has stood still here for a long time. However, the shop is packed with nearly every conceivable household item you could imagine (excluding furniture and appliances). If you are familiar with Latif and Sons in Birmingham City Centre, think of this shop of a condensed version of the same type of store. Another way of describing it is as 'Northfield's General Store' - everything from kitchenware, cleaning products, garden, diy, computer and automotive accessories are in stock at very reasonable prices. I managed to buy a bunch of last minute Christmas presents here this last year and I had never thought a shop on Northfield could offer such choice, quality and value. The couple who run the shop are lovely too; very friendly. Also, If there is something you are after and they don't stock it, they are happy to source it for you. Often I have bought items from larger stores and supermarkets only to find the same products sold here at a cheaper price. I now usually pop in and check here first if I am after something in particular before shopping around It saves the disappointment! Definitely recommended, especially if you are setting up home and need a local, independent shop to buy the basics!

Don't get me wrong, the place in comparison to other shopping centres is almost beautiful, big open skylight, actually quite clean and toilets on almost every level. But half the time the escalators are broken, the last one being a total of nearly 4 months (and having to fight through H&M if you wanted to go down to the ground level). The elevators are ridiculously slow, and usually monopolized by the owners of tiny humans in prams... which is fair enough as they would struggle with the stairs. The morale of this story is - take the stairs. Other than that gripe its generally not a bad place, just really busy. You can cut through the bullring to quickly get to any other part of town and because the whole building is sheltered its convenient for shopping in the bad weather.
