    a variety of donuts

My husband and I had this bakery on our Iowa bucket list and this morning, we finally made the 30 minute drive from IC. The bakery itself is small, but the two cases are jam-packed with all sorts of delicacies, from turnovers to giant cinnamon rolls. Obviously we each got a crescent, as we'd heard enough about them, and I got an Apple turnover and he ordered a raspberry apple Bismarck. We inhaled the two pastries immediately after we made it to the car, and I must say that the turnover was impressive. It was cold, so that gave it a slight disadvantage over, say, Wilson's orchard, but I bet if I had the patience to take it home and heat it up, I would have liked it even more. As it was, I found it delicious and chock full of perfect and fresh apple filling. But then of course there are the crescents. To be honest, I had low expectations on a personal level. Nothing against them, I just don't really love icing-filled or icing-topped donuts and pastries, and looking at them, I could already taste the cloying cream that would make my stomach feel heavy and sick. Boy was I wrong. The frosting was more like an egg white and powdered sugar combo, so it was sweet but not heavy. The donut portion was sweet but light, and the combo was...wow. I get it now. As I was eating it, I kept trying to save half for later, but needless to say that didn't happen. Oh and did I mention the crescents are huge? And we spent $7 total on FOUR delicious pastries?! So yes, it's a little bit of a drive, but if you make the trek, do yourself a favor and reward yourself with a crescent. You'll thank me later.

Such a great little bakery! We take an annual trip out to Kelly's Tree Farm for our Christmas tree then head into town to the bakery! The items here are so fresh and delicious. The crescents melt in your mouth and are such a treat. We always get a dozen and along w/ the crescents the jelly donuts and long johns fill our box!

It was very overwhelming for me because I had never visited before. I entered the store, and a customer was waiting, presumably for an order, while a nice young woman worked behind the counter. She greeted me, but didn't ask if I had ever been there before, if I was looking for something in particular, or if I had any questions, for example, what's the difference between a Bundlet and a Bundtini? Educating your customers; this is a missed opportunity. I don't think you should assume your customers have been there before and know what they want. I did have a question about the Bundtlet towers (I think they're called) and whether the flavors of the tower could be mixed and matched. I ended up purchasing a few Bundlets a la carte style. All that aside, while the cakes and frosting were good (in terms of taste, freshness, size, and quality), they didn't knock my socks off. I'll probably reserve them for a special occasion. I spent about $18 on three Bundlets: red velvet, lemon, and chocolate chocolate chip. Convenient parking spaces outside the shop are marked for Nothing Bundt Cakes customers.

This location is convenient, just off the Coralville strip. Parking is a non issue and online ordering is offered. It's open Monday through Saturday. I ordered a few dozen bundtinis for a party. I was thrilled to see they had pumpkin, as a seasonal flavor. (Delish.) But was so saddened to see their monthly special (a caramel apple at that time) was not offered in the bundtini size. Pricing seemed a bit steep to me, but seems on par with other cupcake/cake/bakery spots-- so what do I know :) I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. Was waited on instantly, but I did get to peruse their super small storefront which offers a few chairs but generally is just for party supplies available for purchase. (The candle selection is lit! Ha, get it?) Overall, it was available on time, made fresh, complete and the staff was pleasant! I'd recommend Nothing Bundt Cakes as its product is solid and turnaround time (I ordered less than 24 hours in advance) is super quick for the area.

Whatever Sprinkles Your Donuts!…read more For nutritional and blood sugar reasons, I largely stay out of donut shops. There are exceptions like Tim Horton's in Canada and most recently Donutland. This is the real deal and with lots of delicious sugar bombs to choose from, courtesy of an engaged staff. And contrary to the urban legend, no donut-loving police officers were present during my visits. Prices have gone up over the years, with my chocolate old fashioned the first morning, and what I call a "Hawkeye Sprinkled" donut the second morning running at $1.84 each. The first morning's donut was consumed on the way to Iowa City, while the 2nd one was saved for the airplane flying out of Cedar Rapids. I found their coffee to be pretty good too. Note: Plenty of casual inside seating is available, as is nice selection of branded items.

The filling tasted like a fresh blueberry pie: bright, jammy, and perfectly balanced against tender, slightly pillowy dough. The glaze was light enough to let the fruit shine. The young lady behind the counter was friendly and very helpful in guiding my choices. The shop's ambiance evokes an old‑school donut parlor -- warm, unpretentious, and comforting. This was my first Donutland donut, and it surely won't be my last. I'll be back.
