My 20ish year old furnace went out this morning. I'm a capable homeowner and quickly found the issue was the ignighter. Being new to the area I checked with friends to see where to get the part. Tiffin Deluxe is where I was sent. Now I live by a few maxims. One is: "Any time"Deluxe" is in a name... Seldom does it belong there. Adjust your expectations accordingly" Let me say this clearly... For this place the maxim is wrong. I called them and a friendly lady answered the phone. I explained what I needed and she said to come on in and they would get me taken care of. I walked in the front door and was met by that same friendly voice. She had a knowledgeable person at the counter in seconds. I pulled out the part and he knew immediately what it was out of without my even having to tell him. He went away for less than a minute and had the replacement part in hand. He unboxed the part so we could inspect it and even gave me installation advice! I did pay more than getting the part online, but I got SO MUCH MORE in service and I had the part installed and my furnace back online within an hour. Well done! Deluxe service for sure! read more

They're like the "shady car mechanic" stereotype you keep hearing about. I called to replace some water lines. The plumber replaces them and then calls to tell me a faucet is now clogged and needs replaced (the faucet was fine before he started working on the water lines). I agree to have him replace that as well. Next day I find out they had also removed, and never replaced, the water line leading to the outside spigot (I never agreed to such a thing, nor was I ever told it would be necessary). I call to have them replaced. They give me the run-around for a couple of weeks then give me a $500 estimate to fix something they shouldn't have done in the first place. The plumber then tells me that my old spigot won't work with the new water line so I need a new spigot as well. Whenever I call them about this issue they tell me the plumber will call me back. Days later he calls, but he tells me he needs to talk to the plumber who actually did the work and then he'll call me back. He never calls me back so I call and we start this merry-go-round all over again. It's been a little over two months and the "plumber" still hasn't called the other plumber, which apparently needs to happen before the first "plumber" can give me a straight answer. Lastly, I had also asked for an estimate on electrical work. I needed some outlets replaced. The guy tells me two of them are standard, but the other two are a special project. For one of these supposedly "special project" outlets he tells me tales of having to rewire the entire thing and it will cost about $600-$700 dollars. The other, he says, is similar but easier, so that will cost about $400-$500. So I called another electrician and he changed all four outlets for $225 and said there was nothing "special" about any of them. read more

Had a water line leaking between the house and the shutoff out at the curb. Called them and they showed up the same day to check it out. Gave me an estimated range of what the job would cost and scheduled the work to be done. Two man crew arrived right on time, worked steady until job was completed and then at the last connection at the shut off valve found an additional problem on the water company side of the shut off. The crew took care of calling the water company out the same day to take care of it. Ended up between what I paid for and what the water company took care of I now have all new line from the water main to my house. Then the best part, received the bill for the work I was responsible for was almost 10% BELOW the bottom figure of the estimate range I was given before the work was scheduled.
