Derek and Regan are my favorite instructors for different reasons. Derek is great at creating a class that mimics an outdoor ride. Whether we're modeling our workout after part of the Tour de France or just taking on a series of hills, I always feel like I left with a great workout. Regan always choose fun, upbeat music that helps you to power through her drills. I feel like sometimes a class can be repetitive, but the music and her attitude make the class go by pretty quickly. I also recently tried a Wednesday 6am bootcamp class that meets outside at Conway park. I'd never worked with the two instructors (with Sean + another instructor who I hadn't met before). I normally DESPISE bootcamps, and it can suck being the new person to a group. But the instructors had great attitudes, were really funny, and made the class enjoyable by changing up our activities frequently. It involved a lot of partner work, but I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. AND--I felt twinges in my abs from all the planking for at least a week afterward. (Which means I should probably do this class more often.) The only downside to these classes is that I would really love another 6am spin class (although obviously not possible if the indoor space is already in use). I feel like a lot of people would do a Friday AM spin class if it were offered. I'm giving 4 stars mostly because I've only found the 6am spin class to be the one class that I really consistently attend, but the Training Room is an awesome place to take classes if you want a low stress, low-commitment trial with a new activity.

For more than a year, I was a member of this gym because I loved that it was a women-only space. I…read morebelieved it would be a place where all women felt supported, respected, and welcome. Unfortunately, my experience was very different. On several occasions, I felt a cold and unfriendly attitude toward me from the moment I walked through the door. As a Hispanic woman, I never felt completely welcome. The situation with the guest passes was simply the last straw. My daughter had previously been a member of this gym and is still in their system. She does not come with me regularly, which is exactly why using one of my guest passes seemed like a reasonable option. However, the way the situation was handled and the way I was treated left me feeling uncomfortable, embarrassed, and undervalued as a customer. I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking for the basic respect that every person deserves. It is sad to realize that a place that should make women feel safe and welcome can sometimes make some women feel excluded. After this experience, I decided to find a place where kindness, respect, and professionalism are part of the culture--not the exception.

I come from a different tradition than Jenna's training but have always left learning something new, and appreciating her style, humility and compassion. The space is warm, beautifully done with a combination of greenery, that reclaimed wood post and beam architecture, and clean lines. There's not a lot of Hindu influence here - their music selections are mostly ambient, modern relaxation or upbeat tracks that don't compete with instruction. Last year I decided to start taking my health seriously and make working out an actual habit in my life. I was tired of hearing of all the nasty things that I was saying to myself about my body and fitness level. After a significant amount of prodding, I went with a friend of mine to a Top Performance Fitness Bootcamp. My first TPF bootcamp was HARD, really effin' hard! But I swear to all of you that I felt high as a kite on the endorphins that it kicked off for at least 24 hours afterwards. i'd be lying if I said that TPF bootcamps are a not a bitch, but they are the kind of bitch that you need in your life to get your ass in gear. I don't do get to do them three times a week like some of the other diehard bootcampers, but I try to keep it in my workout repertoire once a week. It helps to keep me motivated in my other workouts as well. I am proud to say that I now work out regularly, several times a week. I have dropped a solid chunk of weight and I am continuously getting stronger and more fit. I have never felt so good! And I really have to give a lot of credit to my participation in bootcamp. I have learned a great deal about fitness and proper form from Anthony, the trainer who runs TPF. Besides being a good egg and a sweet guy, Anthony is very knowledgeable in his field and is attentive to each of his clients. He doesn't yell at you like some crazy militant, but always makes sure that everyone is getting a good challenging workout. Bootcamp is never boring, I am challenged in a new way every single week. Plus, we have a pretty good time, there are always tunes and quite a few hearty laughs! I highly recommend it to anyone who really wants to make a change and vastly improve their level of fitness.

The energy that the instructors at the HB bring to each and every class cannot be matched at these other studios. The instructors at the HB will kick your ass but are also super motivating which is hard to find at other studios. The other studios that I've been to do not have the amazing sense of community that the HB has. Over the last 15 years I have been coming to the studio on & off. Life has been kicking my ass as it has most of us since 2020 & this past summer I reached my healing warrior limit & realized that I had done much work on healing my emotional & mental wounds, but not physical ones. I had no idea what to except when I started this training, but let me tell you it has exceeded my expectations. Be In Union is just that. It is a powerful community space to Be In Union with yourself & others in the community who we share more in common with than we realize. I always just "did yoga". After these 3 months I now understand what it means to have a practice. I highly recommend taking the ride to this sacred, energetic space to take classes. Know that you can show up as your are, even if you simply made it on the mat & lay there for yourself. The Yoga Teacher training was truly life changing for me. My intention was never to be a teacher, I simply wanted to get back in touch with & heal my body. I am grateful that I am now part of this community I never knew I really had, yet have been part of for 15 years. Goes to show how if we push ourselves past our comfort zones things "we never imagined" are possible. This teacher training was one of the best investments that I have made in myself.
