I really like the yoga here, it's a bit cold now that the winter is creeping in for real, but Jenna has been responsive and kind enough to check in about it. They offer gentle assists, anatomically safe instruction (Jenna is meticulous about this), and the right balance of challenge and variation for all levels. I come from a different tradition than Jenna's training but have always left learning something new, and appreciating her style, humility and compassion. The space is warm, beautifully done with a combination of greenery, that reclaimed wood post and beam architecture, and clean lines. There's not a lot of Hindu influence here - their music selections are mostly ambient, modern relaxation or upbeat tracks that don't compete with instruction. Don't get confused -- enter through the Main St. door, as if you were going to the bank, but keep going into the building, and up the first half flight of stairs, you're there! This is a wonderful business in Medford, I want to help hang permanent decal signs on the windows, as it's really hard to know that studio is even there. This studio is such a gem. Previous yoga experiences left me feeling like yoga was not for me. I did the two-week introductory membership and found myself coming back day after day. I loved Jenna's all levels classes - she was able to build a truly inclusive environment where you felt fully supported, cared for, and nudged forward - all at the same time. Classes from other instructors also felt similarly holistic in their approach, focusing on strength, flexibility, and stress management, as opposed to just an aerobic sequence to make you sweat. I have been to SIX HUNDRED classes (yes, I counted) at The Corner Studio and each class has been wonderful. Classes range from different styles of yoga from Restorative to Power to Yin to Chakra and workshops galore like Thai Yoga Massage, Arm balancing, unwinding the hips, Nidra, Chakra with a Live DJ! So many class offerings from 6am to 7:30pm with unique teachers who all individually offer kindness, motivation, calmness, encouragement, humor, compassion, knowledge about sense of self and inspiration. All of these attributes can really touch your heart and mind and you can carry these feelings into your life on and off the mat. I recently purchased the beginner $25 for 2 weeks unlimited yoga and couldn't be happier!! I had always dreaded doing yoga because I am not very flexible and do not have the stereotypical yoga body. A few years ago I had tried a yoga class at a different place but the instructor's vibe was very critical and dampened the little excitement I had about doing yoga... After a few friends kept telling me about their amazing experiences I decided to give yoga another try and the Corner Studio Yoga completely blew my mind! After just one class I left feeling INCREDIBLE and so rejuvenated. The studio is beautiful, and the atmosphere is very welcoming and cozy. When I first went into the studio I met Jenna, the owner, who is very sweet! She instantly put me at ease so I didn't feel uncomfortable going into the class. My first class was the Yoga Basics one. There were people there of all different levels so I didn't feel like I looked dumb or like a fish out of water. Jenna has a very soothing teaching style. There was no pressure to do poses that you felt uncomfortable doing. Her adjustments were also very encouraging instead of critical. Although a slower paced class it was still a great work out! Since then I have tried the All Levels class with Jenna which is definitely a bit more challenging but even a beginner yogi like me was able to keep up. There were optional poses for all levels. I was impressed with all of the more advanced students in the class but even surrounded by experienced yogis I still did not feel singled out at all...in fact being around everyone and seeing their achievements has only inspired me to keep going until I see improvements. I absolutely LOVE the Corner Studio Yoga and would recommend it to anyone! The prices are very fair compared to other yoga studios nearby. The instruction is superb and Jenna is incredibly knowledgeable. After only a few classes I feel fantastic and it's safe to say I am definitely on my way to being addicted to Yoga. read more

I've never tried yoga before, but have been really interested in taking a class. While running through downtown Medford one day I came across this cute little studio and decided this was the place for me. I bought a $25 2 week unlimited class pass and am so happy I did! I was really nervous, but upon arrival I was greeted by Jenna who was friendly and made me feel welcome. The class was full but there was a place for every mat and I never felt cramped. Everyone in the class seemed to be at a different level which made it easy to feel comfortable in my first class. The music ranged from soft melodic tunes to some of my favorite calming folk artists. Jenna had such a strong yet relaxed way about her and a very soothing presence. Overall this was an incredible experience. I walked away feeling emotionally relieved, mentally calm, and physically restored. I can't wait for my next class. I highly recommend The Corner Studio! read more

I cannot say enough amazing things about this studio. I was brand new to yoga and very nervous about trying it. Everyone here made me feel so comfortable and welcome. All instructors are great at providing modifications during practice and often say encouraging things to ensure you are doing things that are right for your body. Jenn is amazing- she teaches an beginners class on Monday that is easily my favorite. She is so encouraging during class and really makes you want to keep pushing yourself. I just love this yoga studio so much. The instructors and the various classes are all fantastic (I'm pretty sure I've tried them all!), and I feel that it is consistently the truest multi-level friendly place I've been. As someone who has been practicing for many years, I am always challenged and delighted by interesting sequences, but there is also a wonderful focus on form and fundamentals that is so important for beginners and advanced yogis alike. I came here in April of 2014 thinking "Wow - $25 for unlimited 2 weeks is a pretty good deal - if I go 3 times then it's worth it even if I don't really like it". Little did I know that I would go almost every day during both of those weeks, and would continue to go most days for months to come. I got an automated e-mail from the studio the other week congratulating me on my 1-year anniversary at the studio, and I thought it might be a good time to write a review. The studio itself is clean and very cozy. Hardwood floors & exposed beams inside with sage painted walls, a wall of plants, and big frosted windows for natural light set the mood. The clientele is much friendlier (read: I haven't met a single person who gave off a snobby vibe) than all other studios I've attended, and I attribute this to the small neighborhood location. Turns out there are lots of other really awesome 20-30-40-somethings nearby who I maybe wouldn't have met without this place, and I now call many of them friends. The Corner Studio has a few events over the course of the year designed to bring the community together - in addition to regular classes an workshops, there was an anniversary potluck, a twister tournament (yes, really!), and next weekend they are showing a movie. It is also air-conditioned in the summer (much unlike my apartment!). The bathrooms have natural soap and real towels to lessen the environmental impact. Jenna, the owner, happens to be my primary instructor - and her style really resonates with me. (I guess I've taken over 240 classes with her according to my MindBody account...crazy!) Taking a class with her is like living a well-written novel. Things start off easy and then build slowly and steadily, then it gets all intense and there is generally a peak pose followed by a nice relaxing cool down. You can tell Jenna was a dancer in a previous life because each sequence is choreographed into something more beautiful than a simple succession of poses. (She also has a very beautiful toe-point if you happen to be looking at her between updog and downdog!). Jenna has a great balance of strengthening and stretching, but every class is different so you never know what you're going to get on a particular day (pro tip - if you ask nicely she will totally incorporate requests into her class, even at the last minute!), and she also doesn't mind when my body decides it needs something completely different and I end up going rogue for part of class. Jenna thinks poses through and always offers the easiest version first in All-Levels classes so there is no pressure to do more than your body can handle. Once you are settled into the easy version, she then offers a 2nd level and eventually makes it clear that you should stay where you are if it feels good before she offers the 3rd. I'm someone who pushes when I shouldn't if I think I can - and this sequencing generally keeps me from making poor choices. ;) Erin's classes, of which I've only taken like 24, are exactly what my body needs when my hips are sore and I need someone to force me to sit in half pigeon for a very long time. Her 'yoga for runners' class always leaves me feeling really good. (I'm not a runner - you don't need to be) I've taken a few classes with Amie, and really liked her as well. I'd take more of her classes if they fit better into my schedule. :) Tuesday night intermediate with Jenna is honestly the highlight of my week (so much that I schedule social plans around it). It tends to be the same core of 6-8 people plus a random straggler here or there, and so we've gotten close and spend a lot of time giggling during class (I mean, falling out of one-hand-one-forearm-stand is nothing to be pretentious about - and it's so satisfying to fall out and look up and see a classmate nail it for the first time!) My body feels the best out out of the entire week when I wake up on Wednesdays as a result of this class. While I'm talking about my body - flashback to winter 2014 and I was in PT for back spasms, hip instability, rotator cuff impingement, and an undiagnosed foot/ankle issue. My mobility was greatly reduced, and just getting through the day was all I could do. I didn't dare mention my condition to Jenna during my first few classes for fear that she'd be too scared to let me do yoga. I did avoid a few moves and stuck to the easier version of poses for a long time - but slowly but surely more poses became accessible and my daily life got easier. One year later my body is far from "good as new", but I can do handstands and can walk several miles in a day. I still can't run, and there is still a deep imbalance in my hips and in my upper trapezius - but I am a functional human again - and there really aren't words to explain my gratitude (nor do I think anyone can understand it if they've never lost their own mobility for a time) Yoga has healed a lot of me. I took my first class with Jenna last Friday. I'm an experienced yogi having taken class all over the Boston area. Believe me, she is the REAL DEAL. It's a rare teacher that can construct a class that is accessible to new practitioners while still interesting/challenging to advanced students and she nails it. Her strong and sweet presence is supported by a strong knowledge that enables cues and timing that are just right. If you are in the area at all, you should check her out. I am more than happy to have found this studio; much on accident. I usually go three times a week to another studio, but my instructor was not teaching one of those days so I decided to try the Corner Studio. I had Erin as an instructor and she was really great. Her style flows but with deeper and longer poses (3-4 breaths rather than 1 or 2 with faster paced classes). I usually have a difficult time with my breaths during a yoga routine, but Erin's class made this easy for me for the first time. Do not take this the wrong way - the class was still very much intense and I felt AMAZING afterwards. I appreciated her adjustments during savasana. The next day I had Jenna and she had a similar technique to teaching, but with a little more strength building on this particular day. Her class was a bit more challenging and utilized more balances which I enjoyed. Her studio is very calm and relaxing and enjoyable to be a part of. Overall, this studio is wonderful and I recommend everyone to at least try it. read more

Jenna is an excellent yoga teacher! I've been a student of her for years, and couldn't be more excited that she has now opened up her own studio! I've never been to class that is the same. I am always learning new and fun (and useful) poses. Jenna constantly varies her classes to cater to the requests of her students. Her facility is a beautiful space. Very calming and relaxing with plenty of space for the whole class to stretch out. Jenna provides all the necessary equipment if you forget your own - blocks, mats, straps, etc. Parking is never an issue. I would highly recommend The Corner Studio, whether you are new to yoga or have been practicing for years. You won't regret it! read more

I decided to try the out The Corner Studio based on its great Yelp reviews and the fact that it's a five minute walk from my house. It wasn't until I tried out another gym that it hit me how great of a gem this place is. Needless to say, I'm enjoying being a member once again :) The instructors are all fantastic, and the modifications they offer are usually spot-on for people with injuries or other limitations. They're also all very friendly and open to requests for positions or areas of the body to target during a class. The space itself is really gorgeous; late night classes are especially relaxing, with the mood lighting and low lights. Lately, it's been pretty crowded, but there's always a spot available for a stragglers, such as (occasionally) myself. The fact that so many people come regularly is also a testament to how great the studio is, and how welcoming. I just wish they would offer more Intermediate Yoga classes! read more

Great friendly little studio, nice atmosphere. Yoga is mostly of the relaxing/restorative type, but within a particular class there's a good variety of movements. However, BE SURE TO ALLOW LOTS OF TIME TO PARK if you are driving. It can be tricky in that area, and there is no way to get in once the class has started. They lock the door extremely promptly. read more

I love love love this yoga studio! All my classes have been taught by Jenna, and she is such a great instructor. This was probably the first yoga studio I have been to where I didn't feel at all worried about looking dumb or doing something wrong. The atmosphere is so relaxed and welcoming. I have been practicing yoga with the owner of the Corner Studio, Jenna, for several years and I couldn't be more excited that she finally opened her own studio! She has a ton of experience teaching basic to extremely advanced poses but never makes it a competition. There is plenty of room for a good class size and if you need a mat they have those to rent for a dollar. The Corner Studio offers reasonable prices for an experienced staff and I can't wait to see more of what is in store for the future of the studio. read more
