I've been unsure how to handle my experience that I had at this office but after several failed…read moreattempts to privately settle this with them and the lack of empathy and professionalism they have shown, I felt that sharing this story is more important than what they were offering me in hopes to spare anyone else from what I experienced. 7 months ago my cosmetic NIGHTMARE began at Prarie View Dental when I hired them to replace my 4 existing veneers and add 4 more. I was overall happy with my teeth but wanted to add more veneers to perfect my smile while also replacing my previous 4 that I got almost 20 years out of. I was told this would be a very easy and simple case, that they do this all the time. That was incorrect. I was in excruciating pain starting with my prepping appointment, I knew I had a lot of work done so I thought it was just recovery but it never let up. Even taking pain reliever around the clock, I was still waking up in pain and getting headaches daily. I had my temporaries in for 2 weeks and they fell out 3 times, I was told this was normal by the office but to me this was anything but. After my next appointment where I got my finals I assumed it would be better, wrong. The final veneers not only looked horrible, but even worse was that the pain & headaches increased. Then, after a week, I lose a permanent veneer. I'm again told this is normal & it's gets fixed. The next week, I lose another permanent veneer only this time, they are unable to get me in for 5 days. This is obviously not an option so I start calling other offices to find somewhere to help me and luckily got right in to another local office. This other office was shocked to hear that these had fallen out but were even more shocked to hear that I thought I got "veneers." They told me that my tooth was way over prepped to be a veneer and I had a 3/4 crown that they were putting back on. I was also told that because so much of my enamel had been removed, these will continue to come off because they were not prepped correctly. To fix this I will need to remove the remaining enamel on my teeth to get a secure bond. I was left with teeth that looked NOTHING like the photos we consulted over, was in horrible pain, and now was being told I would have to get these redone. My tooth structure is gone and can never come back, I'm only 37 years old. I got another opinion from a different office and they said the same thing. They also thoroughly checked my bite to find that it was the cause for my headaches and pain, it was no where near where it should be. The teeth did not fit my mouth and my bite was completely off. At this point, I knew my teeth were irreversibly damaged and I was never going back to PrarieView Dental ever again. I've reached out to them 4 times asking for at least my money back. They finally agreed to give me just over half of my money back IF I sign a release of claims that prevents me from doing 2 pages of things, including sharing my experience. Keep your money, I'd rather people know to never go here. I'm grateful that as I write this, I have beautiful new veneers and am in no more pain thanks to a very knowledgeable and professional local dentist. But it took 7 months to get here with a lot of pain, money, and dentist appointments. I would NEVER recommend anyone to this office, for anything!

Dr Zimmer took me on saw the many challenges and knew exactly how to fix me! I was astonished at the outcome of my mouth. And now my kids and I will only see her! She is very knowledgeable, patient and answers any questions you have, even if they seem like common sense questions, she takes the time to explain everything to you and to your kids! She has a great memory! ( she remembers who you are and makes time to treat you like a person not just a patient.) My current daughter had the same jaw and bite issues as me and in just a few months its night and day difference! Besides dr Zimmer and her unparalleled skills, All staff at this office are caring and accommodating. Patient and flexible! If you've had bad experiences with other orthodontics Or just worried about finding one that understands ur issues and concerns you need Dr Zimmer. I went to a dr based on location...that dr messed my teeth up bad i was in tears and they wanted more money from me to fix the drs mess up... i came to Dr Zimmer she works miracles! Soon, we will have our other daughter start her treatment here. The point is, only a genuinely caring practise would get such loyal patients. Varghesse put my brackets on in a way that they were continually breaking off. He told me that I clench to much, and he would not really be able to help me. He said I would probably need surgery which would cost 10's of thousands of dollars. I went to Kay for a second opinion. He said he could fix it. he took off all the brackets, and placed them in a way my teeth were not hitting - I never broke a bracket again. I finished my treatment early with Dr. Kay, and never had to have surgery; success! Oh, Dr. Kay charges like half of what Varghese was charging. I felt ripped off by Dr. Varghese. My feeling is that he is charging a lot of money for a fancy office, but is in the business of fixing "easy" cases at volume. If you think your case is a little more difficult, or if you want to save some money... or if you just want a really honest and competent guy - go with Dr. Kay.

Long story short it was quite an intense experience. I left there with my daughter (quite traumatized) not finishing treatment. I found Prairieview orthodontics, and wow! Its night and day difference in service! Not only does Dr. John and his team welcome questions they take the time no matter how long, even if it set them behind with other appointments, to answer any questions and concerns, and they really went above and beyond finishing off my daughters treatment, leaving her with an absolutely stunning smile. I have to say she was quite scared and timid, going to any doctor after our past experience. But Dr. John is just so good with kids gets on their level super friendly, very reassuring, answered any of her questions even during adjustments was very kind and gentle to her. Unlike the other orthodontist, who burned her nose, chipped her tooth, scratched her and yelled at her for breaking brackets, etc. Dr. John and his team are so friendly and definitely go the extra mile. We love the experience so much here at Prairie view. They have many locations in the area with super flexible scheduling, other orthodontist offices, actually charge more if you need an after school appointment versus during the day... Prairie view does not do that to schedule appointments around your schedule for no added cost!the team is so friendly and customer oriented- its really been a night and day experience! No emergency service/ after hours. Had to wait a day (Monday) to be seen. Dentist confirmed dry socket but didn't pack it. She placed some numbing gel inside that lasted 2 hours before falling out. Hoping it was enough, he waited until the following day. This is when we learned just how toxic and abusive the support staff is. The staff made decisions about care rather than consult. They accused him of being a smoker (he clearly isn't) and told him he couldn't be seen until the next day. Unable to work or eat. This is a farmer who works through pain and illness all the time and having this exposed nerve go untreated for 4 days is DISGUSTING. I called back to get banned of oral surgeon and support staff refused to give me the Dr name. My son got on the phone and we were told she would have to get with the Dr to find out which surgeon he should see. That was icky after threatening to call the licensing board of Illinois to file a complaint which we are clearly doing now too. The lack of basic human decency in the support staff who has assumed the role of a doctor demonstrates the lack of organization and professionalism in this office. Not certain where they source their doctors from but any dentist who admittedly doesn't know how to pack a dry socket needs to be known for all. In addition, whoever manages this office has done an excellent job in training the staff to act like victims when their toxic and very unprofessional behavior backfires on them. What office doesn't know the name of the oral surgeons who see patients in their office? One that is looking for a lawsuit for gross negligence.

They do not do emergency visits at all, either, so your ability to get seen can be highly variable, and you never seem to see the same person twice.
