We have repeatedly encountered unprofessional behavior, including being spoken to in a condescending manner, interrupted, and even yelled at over the phone--making it nearly impossible to voice concerns or ask questions. Additionally, there have been ongoing issues with insurance billing. Despite confirming coverage and accurate information with both of our insurance providers, the office has continued to submit claims incorrectly. When we've tried to bring this to their attention, instead of resolving the matter calmly, we've received harassing and aggressive phone calls--sometimes while caring for our 2.5-month-old baby at home. Most concerning is the unwillingness of the staff to allow communication with a manager or the dentist when we requested help. Threatening to send a patient to collections while refusing to acknowledge or correct their own billing errors is unacceptable. Because of the repeated mistreatment and lack of professionalism, we will not be returning to this office. Patients deserve to be treated with respect and to have billing concerns addressed, not ignored or escalated through hostile interactions.

I called ahead as…read morea courtesy to let the staff know that she has a psychiatric condition and may occasionally talk or respond to herself, and that she was doing so a little more than usual that day but that she is at her baseline. And her psychiatrist is aware and is changing her meds. I specifically wanted to give them a heads-up so the staff would not be caught off guard or concerned if they heard her talking to herself. She is pleasant, cooperative, follows directions, and has never required sedation for dental care. I was not calling to request sedation, special accommodations, or psychiatric management. Despite this, I received a call back stating that they would no longer see her because they are "not equipped for psychiatric patients" and do not provide sedation. I attempted to clarify that there had been a misunderstanding and that she does not require sedation, but they still refused to continue her care. It is incredibly upsetting that a courtesy call intended to help the staff better understand a patient resulted in her being refused care based on assumptions about her psychiatric condition. Patients with psychiatric disabilities still deserve to be treated with dignity and evaluated based on their actual ability to safely participate in dental care--not assumptions about what they may require. At this point, even if the office reconsidered, I would not feel comfortable bringing her back after this interaction. We will be finding a dental practice where she can be treated respectfully and as an individual.

I accompanied my mother to her appointment, where she was diagnosed with needing four-quadrant scaling and root planing (deep cleaning) and was billed for treatment of all four quadrants. The entire appointment lasted approximately 30 minutes. As a dental hygienist myself, I was concerned enough to have my mother evaluated again on September 2. At that appointment, I observed significant remaining calculus, including calculus on the right side that had not been adequately addressed. I subsequently had to provide additional periodontal treatment, including re-treatment of the right side and completion of the left side. I am currently requesting that Smile Obsession's higher-level management/clinical leadership review my mother's records and treatment and address our concerns regarding the care that was provided and the charges incurred. Staff was unable to provide any assistance on the matter as it now has to go to the people whom are actually in charge. I am posting this because I believe patients should be able to make informed decisions about their dental care and should feel confident that the treatment they are paying for is being thoroughly provided and documented. I hope the company takes this concern seriously and provides an appropriate resolution.

We had a great experience all the way until our dog ate our daughter's retainer. We fully understood that we would have to pay something. I called over to set an appt up and she asked me if we had the molds. I was completely confused. I send my daughter in on her own (did this with my other two girls) so she can be forced to talk to adults and she also sets her own appointments based on her schedule. Gives them a little bit of adulting in a control environment. My daughter was 12 when she first started coming here. She is now 14. After the conversation with the secretary at the front I realized they gave the mold to my daughter. At least that's what they told me. I would never know cause I wasn't there or informed. I assumed if there was important information to be discussed, they would reach out via text or phone. Or better yet, they would ask my daughter to have a parent come in knowing she can't drive. So they must be in the parking lot. That way an adult can hear this important information. They only shared this with my daughter. We have no clue what happened to it. I can only guess she threw the bag away with the molds in it. Again she's 14. She probably retained 1/2 of the information they told her. The secretary explained to me if we had the molds we would have received a discount. Every little bit helps after you just paid a shit ton of money for braces. She explained to me without the molds it's full price. So I asked point blank how this is my fault. NOTHING was discussed with an adult. I didn't sign off on anything. She kept making excuses for their miscommunication. She was attempting to try and turn this conversation on me. I told her the problem I'm having is you keep trying to blame me, but as the parent who paid for this and was never once called or communicated with about the mold. Not emailed, not messaged....nothing. Is still having to pay for the lack of communication by the company. Bottom line beware of this company. Unfortunately they made the mistake and she admitted in the end. I told her moving forward she needs to communicate with her team that they need a parent at the closing when they receive the retainer. So this issue doesn't happen again. Her response was, I totally agree. I said funny you agree. Because you're admitting your office has communication problems, but yet earlier in our conversation you kept putting the blame on me.
