So my family and I were on utv's and we stopped in that restaurant..... never again. I think they were the most racist ppl I've ever met. We are from aboriginal decent. We placed our order at 445pm and 3 family's came in after us and all got there food within a 30 min time period, asks left. We had 8 in our party, and the other family's had between 4 and 7 ppl. They all got to eat before us and we complained twice that we were waiting.... it was 610pm before we got our food. My great grand daughter got her food early because she is 6yrs old and kids are impatient.... we received our food 45 min after her.... so then she had to wait again... we had very expensive items of the menu. Steak n fries and veggies, and to top it off there was a blond hair in my son's veggies, with his steak. 3 others got the seafood platters and the fish was soggy inside. Some scallops were still raw and cold on the inside. And not too mention how many ppl were staring at us. Almost like they've nerve seen Indians before... our bill was 200$ I'm so not impressed. And we will never be back!! read more

Had some fish and chips here and I can't say it was anything special. If you happen to be in the area I guess it's fine but certainly wouldn't go out of my way for it. I have had much better quality food and portion size for the price elsewhere. read more

This restaurant has an interesting and pretty big menu for the area. We ate outside, and the view was beautiful - Fundy Bay. It has great desserts, too. Our only complaint was that in the lobster-stuffed chicken and the crabcakes, the seafood was more like deviled crab and deviled lobster than chunks. Everything was tasty, but we were just a little surprised. Our server was very nice. read more

The establishment doesn't deserve any stars, but at least one was required to leave the following review. Zero stars. Terrible service. Ruined the last meal of our family vacation. We called 4 days ahead and explained that we would have a party of 12 to sit together, and asked if it were possible. We were assured that with that much notice, it could be done. We advised that we would be very dissappinted if we couldn't all sit together, and again were told we would be able to. We gave a number at which we could be reached, if a problem arose. Only when we were being seated, were we informed that the tables had been divided into two groups of six, not beside each other, but behind! I spent the entire meal with my back to half my family! The excuse was that the food would get to us more quickly by breaking up the group. When bringing the meals to the table, the server spilled a portion of one meal onto another plate, causing a spilled glass of water. During the meal, our server "topped-up" a glass of soda with water, and at dessert, a la mode was ordered, but was not served. Dining at Tides is not recommended. read more

We were spending the day exploring Fundy NP and decided to enjoy a hot meal for lunch. We came into town and saw several establishments. We all decided it was best to enjoy some fresh seafood since we were exploring the Fundy Coast. Five months later, our family is still reminiscing about the delicious Seafood Chowder we ate here. We've enjoyed seafood all over North America, but no where is the seafood as good as on the coasts of Maine & New Brunswick. In all our travels, what really stands out is all the different foods we try. The seafood chowder will be remembered for many years to come. Can't forget about the scallops! We ordered ours sautéed and boy, were they delicious. By far the best scallops I've ever had. In fact, we haven't had scallops since because we're afraid we might be disappointed. read more

The Tides Restaurant in Alma had a tasty seafood chowder and good Caesar Salad, the roll took a bit of time to arrive. I had a wonderful helping of fish and chips, the haddock was very tender and fresh. The waitress was somewhat harried with a large crowd of lunch time visitors but remained friendly, helpful and pleasant. She brought us refills of drinks and more lemon etc. The interior of the restaurant was quite roomy, most people sat on the lower level next to the large windows overlooking the sound. The windows had half a dozen hummingbird feeders that are popular in the summer but by late august weren't visited much while we were there (I think the hummingbirds head south about then). The Tides Restaurant is part of the local hotel--it made me wish we had stayed here since there was a lovely beach and the local town was quite pleasant with a small harbor. Bathrooms were clean. read more

This is my first time reviewing a restaurant on yelp but seeing as when we got into the area and everyplace had only 1 review I felt compelled to write about this place. Dinner at the Tides restaurant was amazing. I ordered a linguini dish with salmon, shrimp, scallops, and mussels. Absolutely delicious! Even though it was low tide the view was still breathtaking and afforded us the pleasure of walking on the "beach" after dinner. If you are in the area this is certainly worth checking out! read more

Holy humming birds!! I had a couple people recommend this place to me while traveling through New Brunswick, supposedly the lobster tastes better from the colder water of the area. As someone who doesn't eat that much sea food what do I know, but the meal was very good and the view of the water was nice. They had a bunch of humming bird feeders stuck to the windows, so the little guys really put on a show for everyone in the dining room. This is a great stop before heading into the National park for the day. read more

Pluses: beautiful view, outdoor dining available, freshly baked crusty rolls, friendly service. We both enjoyed our main dishes. I had the Tides pasta, linguini with a very garlicky seafood sauce (mussels, shrimp, salmon, scallops). Yummy! Minuses: the view wouldn't be so good at low tide - just mud flats. The spinach salad had crispy cheese tidbits on it which didn't meld well with the oranges and sweet dressing. read more

Over medium eggs came out hard and cracked.. Took forever to get our food - do not be in a rush. I wouldn't come back for breakfast. The staff was very nice though and coffee ok. Also they had wifi for guests at the resturants. read more

Too expensive, mediocre food, bad service. I entered this restaurant with moderately low expectations in the first place, and somehow managed to be disappointed even further. The waiter was nice at first, but when we observed other tables had gotten bread baskets and we had not yet, we asked our waiter and she gave us the stink eye. I ordered the scallops and paid 28.99 plus tax and what arrived was a measly amount, half the amount that I would get at literally any other restaurant. The scallops themselves were average, particularly disappointing due to the fact that this was literally right next to the harbor. All in all, a terrible experience and a complete ripoff. read more

We asked around and were told that the Tides was the best place in Alma to get fish and chips. We were not disappointed. Fresh, crispy and not greasy. The lobster-stuffed chicken was simply delicious. And, of course, the hummingbirds were a fun and fascinating addition. All in a beautiful building with a gorgeous view. We came to see the Bay of Fundy tides, both high and low, and sitting ringside at the Tides Restaurant was a great place to do just that. We were greeted promptly and escorted down to the lower dining room. All the window tables had reserved signs on them (so you might want to make reservations). But we had a nice view of the water (or lack thereof) from our table a row back from the windows. anyway. Our server was very friendly and helpful. She suggested the fresh scallops or the salmon with maple cranberry sauce. My husband and I both opted for the salmon. I also asked for extra veggies instead of potato or rice and the response was, "No problem!" The salmon was wonderful! A fresh, grilled fillet (about 6 ounces, I'd guess) with a delicious cranberry apple sauce perfectly enhanced with local maple syrup graced my plate. Not too sweet and very fresh, a perfect blend of sweet and tangy. Two helpings of sautéed julienned carrot, zucchini, red and green bell pepper, nicely seasoned with herbs, and a small cup of coleslaw rounded out the plate. Finally, we shared a peanut butter and chocolate cheesecake. Not too dense and not too light textured. A perfect end to a great meal. Perhaps we'll try the scallops tomorrow night! read more

Owner was yelling at a staff person at the front desk. We were in the bathroom and could hear everything. He was very agressive and we felt awkward walking out of the bathroom. It was very obvious he treats his staff extremely poorly. We felt horrible for the staff and will not go back there again based solely on the actions and behaviour of the owner. read more

We came to alma on the evening of the 8 July after a 15 hour car journey. My family of four really enjoyed our meal and has been the best place so far in Alma. Just had the fish and chip special. WOW 4 oz piece of fish if your lucky and maybe about 20 fries, all over cooked I might add. My wife had a steak sandwich aswell it was well done not medium as ordered. So we voiced our concerns to the waitress and I guess it was just our problem because nobody cared. We stopped by visiting from Ontario. I must say their seafood chowder is amongst the best I've had! Full of seafood and quite flavourful. Seafood bake also had lots of seafood and a nice cheese bake. Scrumptious! We came during busy lunch hour so service was a bit slow and intermittent but food and atmosphere was great! read more
