Lobster Roll (comes with fries and coleslaw)
Sel Z.

As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a warm smile by the owner / staff. The interior is spacious with wooden finish and Maritimes paintings & decor, giving a nice rustic, charming, and small fishing town feel while dining. Menu selection is quite extensive, offering everything from the classic lobster boil, lobster roll, fish, scallops, and clam chowder, to massive seafood platter, burgers, and a few vegetarian options. Most main dishes come with side options such as baked potato, mashed potato, fries, rice, vegetables, salad, and soups. They have specials of the day. When we were there, the specials included lobster-stuffed mushroom caps, fiddlehead soup (unique!), and different lobster and clam combos. I had the Scallop Platter (I chose the pan-seared kind, instead of battered and fried), which was balanced and satisfying with all the fixings - came with a choice of carbs and side vegetables. You can customize it, such as replacing the carb with garden salad, with or adding extra anything (I opted for extra vegetables). The seafood and vegs were both fresh, tasted delicious, and portion size was generous (especially with the scallops, and chunks of lobster in the lobster roll). Service was lovely and made the dining experience an excellent one. Highly recommended and if you're in the area or stopping by to / from Fundy National Park. The bonus: they provide free WiFi!

Came here after one of my hikes near fundy and wanted a good fish and chips. Prices were quite reasonable for 2 pieces, could I have finished 2? Maybe LOL it was a generous size too. Service was amazing and I really enjoyed my dinner there. Fish wasn't too greasy but at the same time it was so crispy. Home fries are just as good too. Def come check this place out if you are ever in the area. Oh my cousin got the scallops and out of all the places she has tried them at, she likes it here the most!

Beautiful scenery. Friendly staff. Good food. Really loved the scallop appetizer. The flavour was amazing. Lobster roll was adequate. i would eat here again.

Breaded Chicken burger with coleslaw and Moosehead draft.

Beautiful town, beautiful boathouse restaurant and beautiful people. I had the breaded chicken burgers with coleslaw. The chicken was so fresh and piping hot! The bun was so soft and sweet too. They server beers too. I got the moose head draft. They have a very friendly ambience. The owners put an old boat on the ceiling. Also they have small bird houses which attracts a lot of humming birds and it is fun to watch.

This is a nice, spacious restaurant in the heart of Alma! We stopped here for a quick lunch during our break between high and low tide at the Hopewell Rocks. Since it's a fairly touristy destination, prices were a little higher but still reasonable. My dad ordered the fried clams, which I found to be a bit over breaded. Nothing very special, in my opinion. The portion size was also smaller than expected. My sister ordered her all-time favourite - steamed mussels. I'm not even kidding, this must have been her third or fourth time ordering this dish in the past week! It was okay, but nothing very different nor more delicious than the past options. My mom got the chicken burger, which was decent. Finally, I ordered their famous seafood chowder. It was super creamy, and had a good flavour; however, most of the taste came from the fish. Most of the seafood, actually, was fish and shrimp. There were no scallops nor clams. The chowder was good, but I found it a little heavy and overbearing... There was so much cream that I didn't have any appetite for dinner afterwards!

I eat out daily. Deliciously tasteful especially when you are in a fishing / lobster community. So Charlene's (in Bayside NS) makes the best seafood chowder ever, yet this place is a sweet second - I like my seafood chowder not too thick. Lobster roll had lots & lots of lobster. The seafood platter was super, so appreciate when you have a choice to pan-sear your shrimp & huge scallop. Also how often do you get daily fresh cut french fries. Great seafood meal.

Ordered the special and it came with a Lobster Roll & Seafood Chowder. The chowder was UNREAL and we were informed that it will forever put others to shame. I would highly recommend ordering it!

Like all the surrounding local places, it's a tourist venue. For the choices around the prices here seemed a little more in my ballpark for the whole family. The kid menu has the usual expected couple of bland choices, chicken strips and fries for all! Thumbs down that it had no drink, fruit, veg, or anything remotely close as a healthy item with that. Just fried strips and fries, both of which were fairly generic. I had the 1 piece beer battered fish and chips with slaw. Fish was great, slaw was great, tartar sauce which I usually skip was fantastic too. The fries all around were "meh". For a place that is obviously deep fryer centric I think that's something they could improve on, I wasn't a fan. Service was small town polite although we did stand in entry for a while before anyone walking by acknowledged us. We weren't in a rush but with kids I'm not interest in slow food. For everything coming out of the deep fryer I would deem that it was pretty slow and pushed the boundaries of how long young ones are willing to see around hungry. I would go here again.

So we took a detour and decided to visit Cape Enrage. Tho we are locals, we have never been here…read morebefore and had no idea there was a restaurant here. We arrived just at the last sitting and tho we hadn't planned to eat there, it was highly recommended by a worker named Cindy. She assured us we would be very happy and told us they had a chef from Poland. We chose the things that were recommended and we were not disappointed at all. We had Lobster poutine, which is nothing like the traditional NB poutines. It was fries, cheese curds under a white creamy cheese sauce and a secret salsa sauce drizzled over lots of fresh chopped lobster. We also ordered the lobster croissant. It came with fries and a salad with a delicious unique sweet vinegar dressing. The croissant was flaky and buttery and so full of lobster you could hardly keep it together. There was enough dressing to be moist but not enough to overpower the lobster flavour. Again excellent! The polish apple pie came highly recommended, so we tried that also. It was definitely different than our typical NB apple pie, but equally as delicious. The presentation was tops!!! The server Kim, did an amazing job and was very kind to answer all our questions. Definitely a place to return to, and would love to bring friends here. It's been awhile since I dined at a restaurant that I came away completely satisfied in service, taste, quality, quantity!

Excellent views. Truly lovely…read more The menu was limited but good. We had the Cesar salad, lobster poutine, burger, lobster tacos and chowder. All were very good. The lobster poutine being the stand out. It was served in a chowder like gravy. Even my toddler was in on that one. Inexpensive for the quality of food and the super view. We arrived very late in the season so they were out of the local wines - a bummer! But not their fault at all. Great spot.

The Wild Caraway is a 4.5 hour drive from where we live now, but when we decided to take a day off this summer and do something fun, that was our obvious road trip destination. On a good weather day the drive between Glenholme and Advocate Harbour is beautiful, and a walk on the beach near Advocate or a hike at Cape Chignecto works up a decent appetite. We landed at the Wild Caraway around 3, in time to catch the lunch menu but a little early for dinner. The restaurant resides in an old farmhouse, refinished taking the history of the placed into account, but painted beautifully funky colours and decorated with creatively placed vintage items - calendars from the 1940s, a frozen meat saw box, likely from the 50's, and vintage beer mugs from a world of interesting events and places. Original artwork hangs around the dining areas and there ar teo rooms for rent upstairs in case the menu of delicious Nova Scotia brews gets the best of you. The Wild Caraway's menu is a little on the short side, but it revolves completely around locally produced meats and in-season vegetables, and as farmers we believe that's something a lot more restaurants should be taking into consideration. The dinner menu actually changes week to week. Troy chose the pasta of the day, fusilli with halibut and fresh veggies tossed with garlic and olive oil. I had the meatloaf burger with fries. When the plates arrived neither portion looked overwhelmingly huge, but the fact that Troy finished without room for dessert, and I left a few fries on my plate is a true indication of how filling it really was. The meal started with fresh baked biscuits, peppered with dulse. Simply delicious. I am not a fan of meatloaf, so I'd hummed and hawed befor ordering, but the burger was absolutely amazing. The grilled pork meatloaf patty was lightly spiced and wrapped in a slice of Oulton's bacon, The toppings were simple - a smoked mayonnaise with lettuce and tomato, but the flavour...oh my! Even when I got to the point where I didn't think another bite was possible I just couldn't let that burger go. It pained me to have to leave a few fries behind, because they were perfectly crispy and as ungreasy as any fry has ever been, but I just wasn't willing to send a bite of that burger back. Troy's pasta looked simple enough, but the garlicky drssing announced its presence long before it hit the table. We are both huge fans. The pasta was delicious, the veggies were beautifully done, and the halibut was cooked perfectly. Sometimes the simplest dishes are the real masterpieces. The Wild Caraway has perfected that perfect balance of fine dining and casual comfort. You can go there in jeans and a t-shirt, you can dress up a little for a special date. The food is consistent and as good as anything I've eaten in this province. The commitment to using Nova Scotian ingredients makes the menu incredible and creative, and the staff know how to make you feel at home from the second you walk through the door. Advocate Harbour is a beautiful feast for the eyes. Top it off with a visit to the Wild Caraway and you'll have a road trip second to none no matter where you're from.
