Stopped by Tipsy Tails this evening for supper with the family of 4 - we got there about 5:45 and we got seated right away on the deck. Drink order was placed - appetizer was a large salad that two adults and 2 kids lightly "picked" at - I thought $16 seemed a little steep for that salad - yes delicious but seemed pricey but the waitress forgot to charge for a second glass of wine, so it did pan out. Both kids had burger and fries - I noticed both kids burgers needed to have ketchup added - no problem - both kids devoured and cleaned plates. I had the tipsy burger with bougie fries - since I noticed the kids burger needed ketchup added...I assembled mine and took a bite without - not bad - I did add ketchup, seemed better. Overall, great burger - patty was so flavorful. Wife had the street corn with birria tacos - she made a comment to the waitress that it was the best meal she has had in a long time! Tough follow up to the incredible experiences at the Alma lobster shop and Holy Whale brewing. Was walking through the town and decided to try after dinner at the Lobster shop. Was super busy on the patio, and fairly quiet inside. We waited a few minutes to be sat inside, ordered two drinks, and the fish cakes. Servers were nice, but seemed really scattered, as this was evident through our order being punched in wrong (a different dish was brought to our table and our receipt had that mistaken dish). Overall, waited over an hour for the fish cakes, which were mediocre at best and made both of us feel a little gross. There was also flies everywhere. Probably our worst dining experience in four days on the east coast. read more

Beautiful patio with plenty of flowers, a great view of the lobstering boats, fun bouys hanging from the ceiling and string lights. We biked around to all the restaurants and this was among the best. The one at the opposite end of town (Almas Lobster) would be best on a cold windy day since they have plenty of enclosed patio seating. The food was excellent! The lemongrass scallops were especially unique, tender, and well- balanced! Don't miss them. Since the Bay of Fundy is world-renowned for their lobster we went with the purist approach and ordered the lobster dinner. It was delicious, but I'm no connoisseur, so I can't really say if I'd call it 'world class'. ‍ The cheddar biscuit it came with was awesome. The seasonal salad was good, but I regret not ordering the boojee fries instead. I don't like cole slaw but theirs was actually decent even for me. They had some fun house specials that probably would have also been delicious. I bet they get bored with catering to the same basic tourist requests all the time. Our server Jeremy was great, very helpful and knowledgeable. Next time I'll follow his suggestion for the boujee fries. read more

We spent three nights in Alma and tried to eat at a different place each evening. On our last night, we tried Tipsy Tails. We arrived before it started getting too busy. There appeared to be two waitstaff walking back and forth, they both looked our way a couple of times within a 10 minute period but did not verbally acknowledge us. I almost ready to leave, when one FINALLY greeted us and took us to a table on the deck. The deck has a nice view of the bay and was a bit chilly since the temperature was on the mild side but not uncomfortable. It took quite awhile for our order to be taken, probably about 20 minutes when the waitress finally came over and commented that she thought we were seated somewhere else. Which made no sense at all since she'd been walking back and forth past us that entire time. It took another hour for our food to arrive. I kept noticing that people who arrived and ordered AFTER us (including a group of EIGHT people) were already getting served before us. I started to wonder if they were getting served ahead of us because they were all ordering mixed drinks and all we ordered to drink was soda(?). As our waitress was bringing out the orders for the table of 8, she commented that she was sorry and that our order had somehow gotten pushed back in the line and she didn't know how that happened but it would be coming out soon. Some more time went by and she commented again that the food would be out soon.... I gave her a look and she then offered that she could give us a free dessert or a discount. I said I didn't want a dessert. It took at least an hour for our food to finally arrive. I wasn't happy with the long wait but they did comp MY dish, so we only paid for my husbands. I ordered fish and chips. The crust was really good, the fish was smaller than at a different restaurant we had eaten at a day earlier. Even though the comped my dinner, I still give this place a low review because I feel they could improve on their customer service skills (i.e. greet and acknowledge customers as they walk back and forth to let them know you will be with them shortly) and they need to be more organized so they don't make mistakes that cause people to sit there forever and starve half to death. read more

Fresh and delicious food in the quaint little town of Alma. My family and I decided to eat here after the usual back and forth on Yelp. I made a reservation via Google, which was their last spot available for the evening. We made our way down to the restaurant for that time, and were surprised to find out that they had received the reservation for an hour earlier, which we determined was due to a time zone difference. They held our reservation for the hour difference, and were still happy and accommodating of us. They seated us on the patio, which was covered and had a nice view of the harbour. Absolutely fantastic. A very nice and charming atmosphere with friendly staff. Wonderful food. After some exploring in the park, we stopped in for the 1.5 lbs lobster dinner. The lobster, cooked perfectly, was buttery, sweet and tasted ever so slightly of the ocean. I wasn't expecting much of this place because it was in a very touristy area (right by Bay of Fundy National Park) and all the places we ate so far during our travels served mediocre and overpriced food. I've been there several times over the years and it used to be great, but the last couple times I visited, it was very subpar. Most recently, I ordered the lobster roll with warm quinoa salad. The lobster roll was very bland (a little lemon would be nice), had wilted lettus, with a few chunks of very tough and rubbery meat that couldn't be chewed or even cut in half with my fork. The warm quinoa salad was very gritty; several bites felt like I was crunching on sand or tiny rocks. It also had a very bland and basic soy taste, with the veggies not seeming very fresh. I make a much better quinoa salad at home. That plus a glass of wine was a $50 lunch. Incredibly disappointing. The two stars I gave was for friendly staff and a beautiful patio. EXCELLENT! It was our first night of vacation with 3 other families, close friends for over 15 years. Alma was our first stop after a 12 hour drive from the states. At 8 pm, 17 of us descended on the unexpecting restaurant whose kitchen was closing in 30 minutes. We were seated outside on the deck overlooking the fishing boats in the bay -- with the waitress cheerfully taking drink orders and recommending dishes. Kids were served first and it was clear at that point the food was exceptional! Fish and chips, seafood chowder, lobster mac & cheese, grilled scallops, shredded pork tapas, and lobster rolls were all dialed up to 11 with fresh local ingredients, unique twists and eye appealing presentations! Chef Trevor -- who was brought on this year to kick things up -- came out to meet us and told us all about the food, where it was sourced, and his cooking philosophy. Do NOT miss this gem!
