This is a gem! Visited while travelling with my wife on motorcycle. Food was fantastic, service was great! Highly recommended! Make sure you reserve prior to visiting.

Wonderful little bistro in the tiny community of Baie Verte NB. Very cozy, nice atmosphere and very good food. We had the Prawns Provençal to start. 6 or 7 good sized prawns in a flavourful tomato sauce. For the main course I had the grilled chicken quesadilla with a Greek salad. The shell was crispy and the inside was very tasty. The salad was good as well. Will definitely come back.

Loved the whole thing- superb dinner for 3 was $113 plus a tip. And I feel it was great value for the price.

I was told about it by a local who said "it's where the cool kids go" for coffee and to hang out. I figured it would be a dive of a coffee shop and not much else, but of course I was wrong. Instead it is an impressive French-themed café frequented by a thorough cross-section of both locals and tourists, going by my people-watching experiences there. The outside looks unimpressive, with a good-size parking lot, and then a partially covered patio along the front of the café where patrons can sit outside and enjoy the day while sipping their latte or eating one of their fantastic orders of food. Inside there are two rooms. Directly in front of you as you enter the place is the order counter and room to hang out as you wait for your takeaway coffee, with a few tables there as well. To the left is a large room with many tables and out of the way of the hubbub of the order counter and takeout customers. In between is a little kiosk for dropping off your dirty dishes. I had breakfast there twice, and both times I was absolutely satisfied with my impressive meal and coffees. Their signature dish is a bagel with toppings like ham, egg and smoked salmon with veg and vegan options. The presentation is top-notch with greens adorning the dish like it was some kind of a work-of-art. Gorgeous AND Delicious! The menu is simple and posted on the wall beside the order counter. I enjoyed myself there so much! Great place to people-watch with the variety of patrons, everything from business people, to people driving holiday exploration vehicles to students and laptop hounds. This is THE place to go in the area that I was in, which was not in the downtown strip, and instead was in their typical big box alley. Highly recommended!!

I discovered this restaurant on my recent visit to Canada. I did not expect to find a gem like this…read morein a relatively small city. I arrived at the restaurant, which I found to be a small place with only a few tables giving an intimate atmosphere. As usual, I made an early reservation so I would have plenty of time to enjoy my meal, which was the Chef's Tasting Menu with wine pairing. To save a little time in writing this review, I will say up front that courses were very enjoyable. In addition, the wine pairings were well matched; however, being in Canada, I would he liked to sample more than one Canadian wine. The dinner began with a cocktail designed to set the stage for the remainder of the evening. This was followed by the "Carrot," which was a combination of macadamia, and white chocolate, topped with caviar. The first course was lobster with apple foam, egg gel, on asparagus panna cotta. The second course was "Tomato Tartine" consisting of sugar peas, mint feta, and squash custard. A scallop course came next, which also included rice noodles, cucumber dashi, and pickled strawberry. The fourth course, was tuna, with ginger, pineapple, and saffron. Next came the "Smoked Pork Belly" with peanut, coconut, and orange soubise. The "Truffle Fettuccine" came next with ricotta salada, savory, and wild mushroom. Some might feel that the savory was too spicy; therefore, it might help for this course to be followed by some type of palate cleanser (preferably milk or cream based). Personally, I did not consider the savory to be too spicy, but then again, I'm from Texas and used to much hotter. This is why I used all the savory on the fetticine, and looked for more. A lamb chop came next, which was served with pearl onions, honey miso, and fermented honey. A "Foie Gras" course with cherry, creme fraiche, and duck proscuitto. Finally, the meal ended with a "Cherry" course, with almond, coffee, and marscapone. The only fault a could fine with the meal was that the presentations, in general, could be improved upon. The service was excellent. I was taken care of by two servers who did everything to perfection. Regrettably, I did not get either of their names so I cannot acknowledge them by name. Who knows, I may find out what their names are some day. All in all, this restaurant is worth trying; especially, if you, like me, are a fan of good food.

We sat outside, enjoying the summer air and watching the downtown hum along. The food here leans simple but thoughtful. The Island Hot Cake was fluffy and satisfying, and the Fry Up breakfast (with bacon) hit all the right notes--especially the potatoes. Maybe it's just PEI magic, but even as a side, they stand out. Our lattes and matcha latte were smooth and well-crafted, and the pacing felt unhurried in the best way. Service was friendly without being overbearing, and it's the kind of place where you can linger with your coffee without feeling rushed. If you're in Charlottetown and want a reliably good breakfast with a quality cup of coffee, Receiver is worth the stop--especially if you can grab a patio seat.

Once inside, you'll find a modern and clean space filled with baked goodies, fresh bread and fabulous coffee. We fought the urge to buy the maple cream whoopie pies. I also was eyeing the tofu lemongrass bowl on the "meal menu". Their breads also looked delicious- I was eyeing the molasses oat bread. We ended up buying a maple cappuccino and a maple latte -and they were sooo good. They also offer a dog friendly patio out front. If you find yourself here for a cruise, this is a five minute walk (or less) from the port. Don't miss out!
