I have given my business to this establishment for several years and during that time I have witnessed a serious decline in quality control. They never did know how to make a good simple coffee or an iced coffee or a cappuccino. And who makes a mocha using ADL chocolate milk! Seriously!? The coffee is consistently dreadful which is a pretty serious failing for a place that calls itself a bakery. This brings me to a recent experience at their new outlet in Stanley Bridge. I ordered an iced coffee. Not too complicated a request you might think, but what I got was a cup of lukewarm brown coloured liquid tasting ever so slightly of coffee, and an extra bit of crappy attitude from the "barista" to wash it all down! Then I got more attitude when I asked for more ice!! Incredible!! Saturday August 9, 2025 at around 4 pm was a bad moment for the Willow Bakery-- they lost my business and the business of my wife permanently. Add up coffee quiche and sweets for two people for six years at least and it'll wipe the superior smirk off your face. Lousy customer service and lousy food on Prince Edward Island is endemic, and they just added to the problem. I have been on PEI for almost twenty years and it's twenty years too long. I am so very tired of the dreadful passive aggressive attitude by people in the service industry I am going to be thrilled to kiss the place goodbye very soon. The Willow used to at least make a good scone but those also have deteriorated recently. Where once they were huge with a crispy exterior, warm and fresh inside, they almost inevitably look and taste like day old rubbish that's been sitting on a humid fly-infested countertop for far too long-- ready to be served by a miserable human being who needs to get a job where they are not required to deal with the public. What the people I encountered behind the counter on August 9, 2025 fail to realize is that without customers you have no business, and without a business you have no job. Problem is a lot of them like it that way-- sitting at home collecting poggie all summer. I worked in challenging restaurants in Toronto for 25 years. I know it can be tough. But if you can't handle the fire get the heck outta the kitchen-- or learn how to make a decent Iced Coffee. It ain't complicated toots!!! read more
