We love the coffee here. Lots of flavour with a sweeter finish. The baked goods, especially the pop tarts are 'to die for'. Yum. The menu has some great choices and we've had two good overall healthy breakfasts here....and some less healthy but delicious baked goods as well. Service is overall good, but not quite amazing. If there were half stars, they'd get an overall 4.5 rating from me, due to service. Decor is ship like, and nicely executed. Rotating art exhibits make the space even more interesting. A large outdoor patio is a great space to people watch.

Hubby and I enjoyed stopping here to try their americano and some pastries. The homemade Poptart was delicious and looked super Instagram worthy. The coffee was strong, hot, and delicious. We were able to grab a seat outside because the weather was perfect and enjoyed the ambiance as we sipped our drinks. My only complaint is that their complimentary wifi was not very good. We asked a few times getting connected and still couldn't manage to connect.

Great coffee and food. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommend checking out this place. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and the atmosphere is very casual and pleasant.

On a rainy summer day we found Receiver Coffee, while visiting PEI from the United States. Both the food, coffee drinks and kid's hot chocolates were delicious and high quality. We order a drip coffee, americano, hot chocolate, samosa, croissant, pop tart, and breakfast sandwich. We also took home a gluten-free brownie for my mom. I highly recommend visiting this coffee shop.

TLDR: Personally probably would not visit again (we just wanted to get a quick bite to eat, but were mislead by the rave reviews) The argument - Atmosphere: Loud, a bit too warm (too loud for my mornings) with limited seating - Taste (Coffee and chocolate croissant): Average (chocolate croissant had very little stuffing and not enough taste), coffee a bit stiff and not as aromatic and melodic as the grinder - Service: Slow, but on par (seemed short staffed) - Cost: $$ ($9 for a cup of coffee & croissant) tips and taxes extra - notoriously LOUD machinery and limited seating, optional to sit OUTSIDE weather permitting. Expect a 10 mins wait for coffee and a croissant or a 15 minute wait for brunch.

Delicious coffee! I had a very dirty chai. The outdoor seating is lovely. This place is centered in a touristy area. It's a walkable commercial type area where the cruise line docks. The bulletin board has some very interesting community posts that highlight local buisness, local events like auctions and jigs. Highly recommend.

Wow-what a way to start your day! Coffee with looks to kill, and a beautiful blend of tasty bean! If you love coffee, and have a high expectation for great coffee, this is where you want to go. Great breakfast options too.

Loved the breakfast options and topped off with a perfect flat white. Highly recommend unless you prefer to have your coffee in buckets from Starbucks.

Vegan version of the Fry Up

Food and beverages are accommodating to dietary restrictions. It has very tasty vegan options, and is well priced for good quality breakfast and lunch options. I had the vegan version of the fry up and every part was a hit. The atmosphere is very cozy, with a nice patio outside.

Great atmosphere, there are plenty of seats and services is great and prompt. They have easy listening coffee house music. I came in for breakfast as I saw the Huevos Rancheros in another post. It wasn't that bad. Crispy tostadas under the eggs, served with pickled jalapeños and pickled onions. You can have it as a burrito but that would just be a waste. Finished my breakfast with a tasty cinnamon bun. I enjoyed my meal with their Brazilian roast drip coffee

We came back on another trip to Charlottetown. The place always has a lineup out the door. Hubby got the receiver breakfast and asked for scrambled eggs but got omelette style...not a big deal. The potatoes had zero seasoning or flavour but the home made ketchup was interesting. I asked for the Thai quinoa bowl with tofu scramble. They forgot the tofu but brought it on the side a few minutes later. The quinoa bowl was tasty with a hint of spice and the tofu was curry flavoured and delicious. Great location just outside the confed centre. Offers soup, sandwiches, breakfast items, coffees, desserts, etc. Pricing is moderate....not cheap but slightly less expensive for some items than other places (powerball was $2 and was a decent size and was vegan). Lots of vegan options...I had the smoothie bowl. Hubby had a sandwich and coffee. There are tables and chairs inside on 2 levels and an outdoor patio where you can watch live singers performing at various times. They use actual dishes and paper straws.

My husband and I visited PEI for the first time and this was a must to visit for breakfast. It was even better we anticipated. I had the fry up, the focaccia was incredibly soft and full of flavour, the potatoes were cooked perfectly, and everything was well seasoned. My husband had the island cakes, they had a touch of cinnamon in them which was unexpected but oh so delicious. The fruit that came with it was bright and fresh and the lemon curd was perfect. We both had tea lattes, chai and a fog and they were a delicious start to the morning.

The breakfast sandwich was really good. The kids shared a hot chocolate which was really good. The coffee and London fog were just okay.

While on the Island for a few days, one of my dinner targets was Brickhouse. My wife and I weren't…read moreable to make it the last time we were in town, but this time it was front of mind. We arrived on a Thursday evening in early June, and the restaurant wasn't quite half full, with tourism season still spinning up to full capacity. We were seated upstairs, which, like their whole space, gives the historic brick building centre stage. The menu a decent size for a place of Brickhouse's pedigree, with several apps and about a dozen mains. They were of the typical sort you'd expect to see in an up-casual restaurant, plus more seafood since you know, it's PEI. It's not particularly inventive or exciting, but there was still plenty of interesting options. I was feeling like some Island beef, so I opted for the short rib, while my other half went for the mac and cheese, with the gluten free noodles subbed in. The large chunk of boneless beef was ultra tender and juicy, and the velvety jus amplified that even more. The seasonal veg was a bit sparse and not especially exciting, but the crisp slices of roasted potato were a welcome addition to the plate. It's hard to have a bad mac and cheese, and Brickhouse passed with flying colours - plenty of cheesy goodness, and a nice bit of browning from some time under the broiler. A side salad of everything bagel-style Caesar salad could have used some more seasoning to make the famous bagel flavour more prominent in an already garlicky and savoury dish, but I appreciated the creative spin nonetheless. For dessert, we split the triple chocolate espresso cake. It presented really well, topped with a sliced strawberry and a dusting of confectioner's sugar and cocoa powder, in a pool of white chocolate pastry cream, but the execution wasn't quite up to the visuals. The cake was on the dense side, and wasn't moist enough to compensate, and the espresso flavour was MIA. Service was easy going and attentive. Brickhouse is lovely space in the heart of downtown Charlottetown, but the kitchen needs a little more attention to detail to truly stand out. It can be easy to coast by in a very touristy place, but people appreciate creativity and quality, no matter where they're from.

Because the bartender had accidentally made an extra, and it was actually pretty delicious, then my food arrived and it was way better than I expected, I ordered the stack burger, after I ate my food, I got the check and left tip, I will definitely be revisiting this restaurant, amazing food, amazing service, there is not one bad thing that I can name about my experience!
