If I found myself living on Prince Edward Island, I have a feeling this would be my go to coffee shop. For starters, the setting of the historic building they're in is adorable and cozy. Once inside, you'll find a modern and clean space filled with baked goodies, fresh bread and fabulous coffee. We fought the urge to buy the maple cream whoopie pies. I also was eyeing the tofu lemongrass bowl on the "meal menu". Their breads also looked delicious- I was eyeing the molasses oat bread. We ended up buying a maple cappuccino and a maple latte -and they were sooo good. They also offer a dog friendly patio out front. We love the coffee here. Lots of flavour with a sweeter finish. The baked goods, especially the pop tarts are 'to die for'. Yum. The menu has some great choices and we've had two good overall healthy breakfasts here....and some less healthy but delicious baked goods as well. Service is overall good, but not quite amazing. If there were half stars, they'd get an overall 4.5 rating from me, due to service. Decor is ship like, and nicely executed. Rotating art exhibits make the space even more interesting. Hubby and I enjoyed stopping here to try their americano and some pastries. The homemade Poptart was delicious and looked super Instagram worthy. The coffee was strong, hot, and delicious. We were able to grab a seat outside because the weather was perfect and enjoyed the ambiance as we sipped our drinks. My only complaint is that their complimentary wifi was not very good. On a rainy summer day we found Receiver Coffee, while visiting PEI from the United States. Both the food, coffee drinks and kid's hot chocolates were delicious and high quality. We came back on another trip to Charlottetown. The place always has a lineup out the door. Hubby got the receiver breakfast and asked for scrambled eggs but got omelette style...not a big deal. The potatoes had zero seasoning or flavour but the home made ketchup was interesting. I asked for the Thai quinoa bowl with tofu scramble. They forgot the tofu but brought it on the side a few minutes later. The quinoa bowl was tasty with a hint of spice and the tofu was curry flavoured and delicious. Great location just outside the confed centre. Offers soup, sandwiches, breakfast items, coffees, desserts, etc. Pricing is moderate....not cheap but slightly less expensive for some items than other places (powerball was $2 and was a decent size and was vegan). Lots of vegan options...I had the smoothie bowl. Hubby had a sandwich and coffee. There are tables and chairs inside on 2 levels and an outdoor patio where you can watch live singers performing at various times. They use actual dishes and paper straws. read more

My husband and I visited PEI for the first time and this was a must to visit for breakfast. It was even better we anticipated. I had the fry up, the focaccia was incredibly soft and full of flavour, the potatoes were cooked perfectly, and everything was well seasoned. My husband had the island cakes, they had a touch of cinnamon in them which was unexpected but oh so delicious. The fruit that came with it was bright and fresh and the lemon curd was perfect. There was tons of food at the festival but the lines were so long that I didn't feel like waiting. I noticed that there was a cute coffee shop right behind the vendors. They looked busy but the line looked like it was moving fast. A perfect place to stop and get coffee and a sandwich. Their menu is simple and they served breakfast during the day! I ordered a coffee and breakfast sandwich. I made it with egg whites and turkey meat instead of bacon. I love places that make modifications! My sandwich came out hot and the bread was nicely toasted. All the ingredients tasted fresh and the sandwich was big enough to fill me up! I left feeling happy with no more depresso! read more

I unfortunately went to this restaurant only to learn that they had complete retooled the menu from what was posted on yelp. Maybe it more of a yelp thing? It appeared that their old menu had several options for vegetarian and vegan eaters like members of my family are. The menu looked awesome and we were excited to try it. When we arrived though, most of those options were gone and there were no options for vegans. It's too bad, because we walked for 20 minutes to find this place. IDK why restaurants don't keep a separate small menu for meatless options. I think there is a great number of people who are dietary restricted and health conscientious and doing this it would allow everyone to enjoy their restaurant. There are less than a handful of real good coffee places on the entire island, and this is clearly the best. With great coffee, delicious breakfast and wifi, this is the place to come for breakfast or lunch. The seating options are great too - tall tables, counter seating, couches, tables, and outdoor seating. The ham & cheese scone is delicious. The scone with green onions has a perfect mild flavor. Visited Receiver Coffee practically everyday while staying in PEI/Charlottetown. The coffee was on point and served in mason jars, the bfast selection was a good mix of substantial savory and sweet at reasonable prices for a "resort" town, the cookies looked (and tasted) phenomenal, and the baristas were all the epitome of friendly Canadians. I loved the big, open windows, the outdoor seating, the high tops inside, and the tables above the cashier area overlooking the entire space. A big shout out in particular to one of the baristas that suggested we check out Point Prim Chowder House (https://www.yelp.com/biz/point-prim-chowder-house-belfast)...it was easily the best meal/experience during our trip. read more
