A nice spot to stop for breakfast while exploring scenic and charming Charlottetown. Very nice location with good ambiance and a very friendly staff. Note, the portions are BIG! Do not let anyone tell you Canadians eat lighter than Americans, lol! We ordered a few dishes that we discovered we could have very easily and comfortably split had we known the portion sizes. We came to have an amazing dinner before a show, and we had some issues. First off, they need to do something about the flies. Quite busy for breakfast. No gluten free or vegan options on the menu so I had granola with almond milk instead of yogurt along with fruit. Hubby had the stuffed French toast and my son had the hash brown bf with sunny side eggs, sausage and toast. The food was ok. The teas came in nice big kettles do we could keep drinking for a while. Only one washroom on the main floor so I had to go upstairs to use one. Staff were friendly, place is fairly big and open and they have lunch and dessert on the menu too. read more

Food was tasty, although the wait time meant poached soft eggs were hard and the food temp was only warm. Arrived ten minutes before our reservation, and were seated after walk ins. The place was over seated, so the servers were run off their feet and we waited 50 minutes for food. We had to ask for water a second time y walking up to the bar after waiting 45 minutes. I had breakfast this morning at Casa Mia Café. I ordered a large milk and House Buttermilk Pancakes (I swapped the sausage for bacon). The serving was HUGE and I could only eat about half. The pancakes were delicious and filling. I wish there had been fresh strawberries (as per the description) rather than the bowl of berry compote (?). Lee-Ann was my server. First of all, it isn't posted here but they have a patio - breakfast on a patio Second, they have probably the best homemade breakfast I've had since my trip to New Orleans. I've been looking for a local place in the maritimes that does stuffed French toast and I found it! I got the stuffed French toast and the banana pancakes - split it with my bf and wow, we regret not checking this place out when we first got to PEI. I'm right here at the restaurant and the floor is not cleaned. slow service. didn't realize the salad I ordered had blue cheese in it they would not take it back and make me a new one. they would have to charge me for a new one that would mean I would pay for two salad. the lobster cakes barely had lobster in them it was full of potatoes. would never come back here. I stopped by here this past Friday afternoon with my girlfriend for a cup of coffee. The inside is Decorated nicely and it had a good selection of items on the menu. Having just eaten lunch though, I decided to just get a cup of coffee. The coffee itself was decent enough and whenever I was low an employee came over and asked me if I wanted some more. The bottom line for me was that it wasn't a bad little place to stop for a coffee. I wouldn't mind coming back again even if there are better places close by for coffee. read more

Stopped by this nice cafe on our last night of our mini vacation to Charlottetown. We had an excellent meal. Did not feel that the menu was overpriced. My dining partner ordered the roasted red pepper soup and a salad with pear and walnuts in it. She noted that the pears were fresh as recently she had ordered a salad with fruit in it and the fruit was canned. I had the chicken fajitas which were served very hot and the veggies seemed very fresh...they certainly were tasty. We were visiting town and looking for a casual option. Casa Mia had options for our vegetarian/vegan family members. We tried the Chicken Alfredo and a pizza. Both were very good! We leave 15 minutes from New Haven, CT in the US which is the country's pizza Mecca, so we are familiar with great pizza. The pizza wasn't New haven style, but sure was good!!!! The crust is crispy yet that a nice chew to it. The ingredients fresh sause, mozzarella, basil wassup delicious, made even more so by the addition of grated cheese and sprinkle of crushed red pepper (make sure you ask for them). The staff was very nice, but had to track them down and not attentive at all. The place was not busy and there were three waitstaff, but we had difficulty getting them to come to take our order and they never came back once we received our meals. That being said, come for the food and definitely try the pizza!! read more

Unjustifiably expensive. Had dinner here tonight, expecting elevated Italian style cuisine, which is certainly the impression being given from the restaurant menu and decor. Food was not very good. My "pollo parmigiana" was run of the mill and tasted like something you could get at east side marios or boston pizza. Like a frozen patty fried with mediocre cheap cheese on top. The Bolognese sauce on the spaghetti and my girlfriends lasagne was extremely salty, to the point where I after 3 bites I stopped eating it. Her lasagne was not a very big portion, and did not come with salad or bread, and also featured the same salty Bolognese sauce. When you can get a better tasting, larger portion with a side at even a chain restaurant for less money, dont bother with this dish. The desserts sounded good but at 9 dollars for a small slice of cake? No thanks. Plenty of good desserts a few doors down for half that. On top of that, the service was not great. Our waitress didnt realize that the owner had stepped in to take over waiting on us half way through. Leading to some confusion. I hope he didn't steal her tip. Also, small gripe, but there was an exposed electrical plug on the wall next to us..50 cents at home depot can fix that c'mon. These owners need to lower their prices or increase the quality of their food. Nice decor high prices and a fancy sounding menu means nothing if your food and service can't live up to it. read more

Just had to stand up and leave this cafe, arrived and ordered coffee at 10:15, left at 10:50 still no coffee and our order hadn't been taken yet. The couple beside us had been waiting over an hour for their food and were not pleased about it at all. The server was friendly but really didn't seem to care that we were disappointed to have to go find somewhere else to eat as we didn't have 2+ hours to spend there. We stopped in for late lunch and the service was great. The seafood chowder the curry carrot soup were excellent! The chowder was rich and creamy with just the right amount of seasoning and the seafood was tender, not even a bit overdone. The grilled foccacia bread that came with was just perfect for dipping. I had a hard time deciding between 3 and 4 for this one. The server seemed surprised that I was dining alone and the service was quite slow. I didn't get my latte that I had ordered until i was 3/4 done my meal (event though I ordered it at the same time. It was a chai latte and not very flavourful as the tea had not steeped sufficiently prior to the milk being added. I had the casa Mia melt and it was pretty good but a little on the greasy side (to be expected as it is a croissant). Bacon on the side was cooked perfectly and they have an interesting take on hash browns- they have a sweet flavour as a result of maple syrup being fried in there. The waiter was argumentative. we eneded up waiting 30 minutes for a soup and sandwich we thought would take max 20 minute to ladle and put together. we politely told the server we had to get going as we had afternoon plans and we were sorry but we would have to leave. And my complaint is that this male server seemed personally offended and became argumentative saying "well 29 minutes in a full restaurant is not a long time to wait" I was shocked. We might have agreed if we had not witnessed two tables who had arrived after us getting their finishing their hot meals. We had shown no grievances towards this man and he came out of no where with that comment and it really upset me as a customer. read more

Had breakfast here and we ordered the bacon and cheese omlette and eggs bennies. The eggs bennies were supposed to be soft but came out hard and the omlette was dry. This coffee shop was at the top of my list to visit in Charlottetown because it came recommended by locals. I had a BLT panini served as a special with a soup of the day. The BLT came with bacon made on the Island, which is why I chose it. It was a little dry, but tasty, with fresh local greens instead of just boring salad. The soup was really amazing. It was a tomato curry mixture, that was thick enough to hold a spoon up in (maybe almost a little TOO thick). It had a really strong / rich tomato flavour and was really tasty. I decided to finish off with a cappucino. It had a giant amount of foam on it and was a really tasty coffee. You can go here for just a coffee, but it's got great meals as well. read more

My colleagues recommended this restaurant and I'm glad I tried it. First of all, the interior decor is magnificent (I could be biased since I love mahogany!!). Onto the wait time, it's relatively short, considering I came in on lunch time on a Sunday. Now the finale, the food!!! The vegetarian omelette I tried was very tasty. It was generously portioned. The coffee is quite rich and aromatic! The atmosphere is good. It is a little loud for my liking but I guess that's how it is if you visit a popular joint. The staff are quite friendly. We came here for breakfast before our meetings. My friend and I each got the two eggs breakfast, which came with a choice of either bacon or sausage, and toast. Thinking that the sausage was going to be local, I went for the sausage, while my friend went for the bacon. His was the much better choice. The sausage, without joking, tasted like a spicy hot dog. Same consistency, same texture, same taste as a hot dog, but with some spices added in to make it "italian". I had two bites of it and that was all I could manage. The bacon was delicious and crispy however. Coffee is good, ambience is nice. I'd go back and try out a few things but never again will I attempt the sausage. Six of us wandering around late on a Saturday morning looking for somewhere to brunch/lunch we decided to give this place a try. We'd been to Cora next door a few times before but wanted something local and different. It seems a bit stark but the dark wood tables warm the place up a bit. We were seated quickly and not long before our orders were taken. I ordered the Potato Breakfast Cakes, another had the Montreal smoked meat panini, another the eggs any style with a side of potato hash, another the granola and the last two shared an order of old world buttermilk pancakes. Expecting more of a flat potato pancake, what I got was two tennis ball sized, giant croquettes. They were crispy on the outside, fluffy potato on the inside mixed with ham, cheese, green onion and a peppery bite to it. These covered in a lemony hollandaise. It comes with a side salad which I though rather odd for a breakfast offering but enjoyed it all the same. Soooo yummy! Though not a traditional Montreal smoked meat sandwich, it was almost as good, though he removed the lettuce & tomato and got a spicy mustard rather then the red pepper aoli that came with it. The granola was quite good and made in house according to the menu. The other two dishes came with an "Island sausage" which I assume was locally made. There are some vegetarien options avaialble on the menu. All and all, a great meal and hope to come back and try some of the other offerings, though, I suspect I may have to come back for those potato cakes! read more

There's a reason Casa Mia is ranked 63 rd in Charlottetown. It's fortunate to receive any ranking at all and certainly does not deserve three stars. Despite stressing a small change in our takeout order the kitchen still managed to mess it up. But the real issue with this restaurant is the meal portions! A 16.00 penne entree order doesn't even approach appetizer portion size. There isn't a less expensive food item than pasta and yet this restaurant chintzes to the point of embarrassment and laughability. This was a second attempt for us at this establishment. There won't be a third! Buona Mangia ranked twenty spots ahead of Casa Mia is a far better bet. read more

The first thing you notice as soon as you walk in is how bright it is in there, and not in a good way. It felt like the florescent lights you'd experience while shopping at Costco. Doesn't make for a great atmosphere. The floors are also dirty and there are so many flies/fruit flies that it totally ruins the experience. They are quite a nuisance. With that said, the pastas are good. The seafood fettuccine was good, especially the flavour of the sauce. The gnocchi is also good, but very rich - perhaps a bit too much. But the real star is the creme brule caramel cheesecake. It was one of the best cheesecake's i've ever had. The servers were both friendly.
