My friend and I paid a visit to the Sackville bakery, which also has a small store/counter area inside the open bakery, where "kookies" and other baked goods such as breads and cinnamon buns are also sold. Free samples of the were offered to us. Several bakers/workers (all wearing hairnets) can be seen making the "kookies" and using big trays in the baking process. The Ginger Snaps are a vegan product, which are all natural with no preservatives, no dairy, no eggs, and nothing hydrogenated. We bought a package of those Ginger Snap Kookies for our roadtrip. The thin ginger snaps are thin and soft, but not crispy like the Moravian ginger snaps we've had and have a nice sweet and spicy flavour. There was a lot of outdoor seating, a picnic table under a gazebo and a large patio overlooking the water. There was a full wheelchair ramp that went into the cafe and also right to the patio. The woman working there was lovely. She told me that there were more treats that she was still putting out in the showcase and to tell her what we wanted based on the tags. A butter tart square (that looked mass produced, like you can buy lots of places across the country) for my husband. A chocolate peanut butter swirl for me - which turned out to be a homemade chocolate peanut butter snack cake with icing. I was pretty happy with my choice. :)

Calling them dinner rolls is a misrepresentation, though. They resembled swedish cinnamon buns with a syrup on top. Their moderate level of sweetness was a good thing to me. You could enjoy them with coffee, but coffee isn't obligatory to cut the sweet. The doughnut was a doughnut. Considering this is a pretty remote location and Kelly's has been operating for 40 years, they definitely are doing something right. Service was pleasant and efficient, and appreciated.
