Nice little dockside dive that serves fresh seafood. Grouper is the primary fish they sell...and they store it in coolers right off the dock from the daily catch. Your dinner was probably alive before the sun came up. I got my fish blackened which was yummy. The carrot salad was a delicious and welcome accompaniment different from the standard "fries or rice" you get at most places. Fries are available if you prefer. Prices are reasonable. After trying Thai Palace for dinner unsuccessfully, I scrambled for a place to eat due to dinner options being scant on a Sunday night. I found this place on yelp. I had 30 minutes before closing. Initially I sat at the outside bar but then I spotted some bar stools and a counter in the corner right over the water. What prime real estate for eating! The sound of the waves slapping against the shore added a calmness to the ambience. I ordered the conch fritters and grilled scallops, which cost $28.65. I think this is a bit pricey for one person given the amount of food, but oh well. The food arrived about ten minutes after ordering, which was good. However, neither dish was spectacular - just your average seafood. I thought the scallops were slightly over salted, and the coleslaw had a funny taste, as if it had spoiled. Good food and great service and a wonderful view from the bar I watched dolphin swim in the sunshine and there was no extra charge. A consortium of local and restaurants business types make for a nice place. Good outdoor seating area clean restrooms and a general nice atmosphere. One of the owners is from the AE Bell Fishing Company the last commercial fishing company located here in Cortez on the gulf side of Florida. So they get first pick of the fresh fish off of boats everyday. A nice casual place which is not to pricey. There are lots of craft beers from Florida some from nearby Bradenton and some from Sarasota so lots of decent beer choices. A wonderful little spot right on the water! Their menu is small but mighty! While traveling in the area, my wife and I stopped in. I had a grouper dinner and it was wonderful. I also had their Gumbo and it was stellar! You can't make it any better than they do. My wife had the fish tacos and loved them. Out of all the spots we ate while vacationing in the Bradenton area, this was by far the best seafood stop! It's a great little place to stop and get a bite !!!! Amazing! I had grouper bites and my husband had the blackened grouper sandwich with fries. My bites were the best I've ever had. I don't like the fishy taste, but these were obviously fresh and didn't taste fishy at all. My husband really liked the blackened grouper and I thought his fries were really good as well. The service was excellent. Mike was our server and he was fast, friendly, and full of good tips! I wish I had listened and tried their homemade hot sauce, as I've seen other reviewers liked it. They also had Yuengling, my favorite beer and Mike was right on top of it, never letting us go dry. The outside is right by the water and the atmosphere is one of a local hang out. Hubby and I stopped here today for lunch. It's awesome to arrive by boat. We were seated at the bar immediately(we lucked out, most people had to wait) Service was great, food was delish. Why only 3 stars you ask? Because we ordered the seafood combo to split, $29 and change because we went with a $5.95 upcharge for grouper, and along with the rather small serving of grouper, we got 3 scallops and 3 shrimp. For nearly $30 I would expect at least 6 shrimp and another scallop or 2 would've been nice, but no. 3 shrimp, 3 scallops. Geez!! Now this is what I want when looking for a waterside seafood joint! Good food, great service and hospitality plus a comfortable venue with a view. First, the food. You can't go wrong with the combo platter with scallops, shrimp and we substituted for grouper. Yum! Fries were definitely tasty. My son had the grouper sandwich that was great. The other kids had chicken strips....it was the one item that could have been better (perhaps thicker strips to be more moist or don't know of it is the fry oil taste from seafood) that the kids complained about. Fish tacos were amazing though for classic fish taco folks,some may not like the teriyaki seasoning. Second, the service. The owner Bob introduced himself and made us comfortable while he figured out whether the nearby rain situation would be a problem for our outside seating. Our server was real pleasant, helpful and attentive. I can see why there are lots of regulars sitting at the outside bar. Looks like the storm was not coming this way, so we were good to feast! The drinks. Cigar city brews and other craft were on a table side list. Other drinks on the regular menu. Soft drinks have one refill. Perfect for the kids. The view. Sitting outside with the fans going keep us both cool and the flies away. The dockside space was relaxing! Parking can be limited when it gets busy but they directed us to the perfect spot. Very disappointed with recent service. Protocol's have obviously changed. Being asked to move from main bar area while waiting for our table, after putting our name down for seating, (granted taking up two bar stools with many open) negotiating my mother to a bar stool, only to be told we couldn't sit there. Moving us is to outside tiki, where we couldn't order the draft we wanted. So I was sent back to bar, where we were previously booted from to order drinks, because the tiki didn't offer that option. Mmmm, great fish tacos! It was about 92 and pretty humid when I visited. I sat outdoors at the bar facing the ICW. There was a nice breeze off the water, the fans were blowing and the view was beautiful. I was completely comfortable, could have sat there all day. I had the fish tacos of course. They are made with blackened mahi on flour tortillas with coleslaw, a little cheese and some sauce. The sauce tasted a lot like hoisin sauce which is a great idea and it's delicious on a taco. It appears as though they cook the tacos on a griddle once they're made, to crisp the tortillas and melt the cheese. Very nice! They come out piping hot too as a result. The dish came with three tacos, pretty generous for the price. It also had 2 sides included, I ordered coleslaw and baked beans. Good slaw but the baked beans were a standout. Really nicely done, taste homemade. A dining companion had the coconut shrimp. They were enormous, I didn't get to try one but was told they were great. They serve Cigar City beers, good stuff. The service was very good, the family running the place does a great job. Great view and location, and if you like fish tacos I think you'll really like them here. read more

I will also state we're from California so used to paying high prices, however for eating at a picnic table and small portions, I thought it was WAY over priced compared to places we have eaten so far on this trip. Just dealt with a really horrible experience while waiting for our table. Our dog was attacked by another while waiting for our table, and the owners of the dog quickly jumped in their boat and left. Our dog has a huge puncture wound and can't walk. The sweet lady at the front wanted to help, but ultimately couldn't. Animal control can't help. Sheriffs office can't help. Just a whole mess. Long story short, I recommend not bringing your pets here. A lot of drunk locals that use the dock to boat and harass the patrons of the restaurant. We didn't even stay long enough to get our food so I can't even comment on that... The worst part was that these people had clearly just left the restaurant, had just paid a bill, and the employees did not want to help us in determining who these people were. The restaurant had obviously over served this group with alcohol and did not want to take responsibility. My dog is being taken to an emergency vet. Would love to at least know if that dog is UTD on shots to know how to treat her. Thanks for the help Tide Tables, we won't be returning. This restaurant has been a family favorite for years and my grandma was bringing us while visiting after her husband passed 10 days ago. A ruined family experience. read more

One of my favorite places to eat. Good food, good service, reasonably priced, bayside location. Most seating is outdoors on picnic benches, where you are seated with total "strangers", which I always enjoy. So far I've been seated with teachers, nurses, former hippies and "foreigners" from Canada! Everyone is friendly!!! Indoor and outdoor private seating is also available. Sunsets are nice here, over the waterfront right next to Cortez drawbridge. If you need to wait for a table, and you usually do, there is a nice sitting area on the water available with beverages to keep you occupied. Staff is on the ball!! read more

We opted for the super fresh Mahi & Snapper. Service was prompt and friendly. Fish was fresh. We've been coming to AMI for years, but this place is a little hidden from the main road across to the island, found it on YELP and glad we did. Thanks to Yelp for this great find!! Took the kids to a museum in Bradenton the other day, and wanted to get seafood for a late lunch. We sat outside and loved the casual atmosphere for the kids, and the view. The kids spent almost two hours looking for mini seashells that were all around the tables. The staff even gave them a cup to put them in. Wow, first time that we've taken the kids out to eat where they never complained about being bored or asked for the iPad. They only serve beer and wine. I was hoping for cider because the description sounded so good, but they ran out. Something about switching beer companies and not being able to keep up with demand. Hopefully they fix this soon and just find another company. I was really hoping for cider on a hot, sunny day. The food is amazing. We had the fried mushrooms (so good that we ordered a second), blackened grouper, fish tacos, kids burger and chicken strips. All of it was delicious. Then it was time for dessert...we were full so decided to share a slice of the pie of the day - pina colada. Big mistake. It was so good that we should have ordered two slices. We went back again two days later and brought my brother (the local who had never eaten here) and was hoping they would have it again. Instead they had blueberry custard pie. It was really good too, but my favorite is still the pina colada. My brother got their signature dessert, the key lime pie, which was ok for a few bites. But I couldn't eat an entire slice, considering I don't typically care for key lime. Definitely added to my list for must-eat at for future trips down to Tampa Bay. read more
