I used to go here quite a bit, but unfortunately, my last experience made me never want to go back. First of all, my manicure and pedicure turned out terrible in general. It took 2 1/2 hours for them to complete it. And I had multiple gel toenails peel completely off within days. The most concerning part, however, was that she painted gel all over my cuticles, cured them, and then went in with the cuticle clippers to cut it off. She then cut my cuticle badly, I started bleeding a lot, and she was barehanded and touched the Neosporin tube. bare handed, slapped it on my blood, and repeated this process. I cannot imagine how many people's different blood is on the tip of that Neosporin tube and how many are coming into contact with others blood. Like I am horrified. And she didn't wash her hands with my blood on them, and started working on the girl next to me. Not to mention, she took strip a strip of skin off my eyebrow. Please get better at handling safety and cleanliness it's genuinely concerning. read more

Although everybody was super friendly, I am very unhappy with my GelX set by Jenny. I called ahead of time to ask if they do gel X and they said yes. First off they do not use apres GelX so they didn't have the shapes available that I'm used to. I had a bad feeling as soon as I saw the supplies. She completely struggled through my nails. It took over 2 1/2 hours and she had gel all over my skin that she proceeded to cure it in my cuticles and then clean up with the electric drill. By far the longest I've ever sat getting a set. The polish turned out lumpy and the nails are not good. The pictures speak for themselves. I went to Tic Tac Nails today for a Dip. The work done on my nails is the best I've ever had. Got a pedicure while I was at it, and it turned out to be the best also. The quality of the work was excellent and the atmosphere in the shop was easy, warm and very friendly. Lovely ladies. I've been to three other shops in the area and Tic Tac is the best one. I called two weeks ago and made my appoint for today 6/11 at 4:30pm. I arrived to my appointment five minutes early and saw every employee was in the middle of services no where near being done. I was asked what I wanted, I explained I had an appointment at 4:30 it's now 4:44 no one has acknowledged me since 4:25 and I will be walking out and never returning shortly after leaving this review. Went back for the first time since June. They have cleaned up the salon. Good to see. Prices are reasonable. Some techs are more thorough in how they perform mani/pedi. Will give them another try to watch fir consistency. One thing , paying in cash does not get a discount vs using credi card. Most places offer 1-3% discount bc the bank charges merchant to use card. read more

Im visiting from LA and I needed a manicure & pedicure. I was amazed at the prices here in Dana Point, I can get my mani and pedi for $36 in Burbank and she is awesome. This place was $40 for both, I had Mimi who draw a flower on the big toes, and she was really good and professional. Someone else did my manicure, she was great, I have to come and update next week when Im back. She was great and very thorough. HORRIBLE STAFF!! The nail salon is run down and looks like it needs to be cleaned. When you make an appointment for a certain time, don't expect to be seen at that time. First they accuse you of not making the appointment and then they make you "have a seat to be seen", which takes another 15-20 minutes. Dropped in for a pedicure, and was told it would be a 10 min wait; 35 mins later no-one had appeared and as I was about to leave they sent Hillary over. She was unprofessional, didn't pay attention to what she was doing, preferring to have a conversation about her personal life with the woman next to me. Her massage actually hurt me, she didn't watch what she was doing and I had to ask her to be gentle. I woke up with bruises on my lower leg today. She did a horrific job with the polish and actually took it off and started again, blaming the nail polish. She flooded the cuticles with polish, and didn't cover the ends so you could see the end of the nail. It was the worst pedicure I have had anywhere, and if I hadn't read reviews I would have thought yesterday was her first day. read more

I have been coming here for 9 years.. Kim has been always done my nails. The ladies there are very nice and welcoming. I can actually go there and relax. I highly recommend! Based on some of the reviews, I feel like there may have been some misunderstandings.. Every nail salon will try to upsell, it's their job. If they ask you if you want something in addition to what you requested it's an additional charge. So ask if it's an additional charge, they will tell you if it is. If you are polite and friendly you will not be disappointed! If you are rude and demanding you might not be happy. 30 years of nail salons, this one is my favorite one! read more

My daughter and I only asked for a gel mani and a pedicure, they did paraffin wax without asking and then when I went to pay, charged me and I said I did not ask for it and thought it was part of the service. They filed my daughter's nail so thin trying to take off gel polish (which you're supposed to remove with liquid remover anyway), that a few hours later her natural nail broke off to the pink area with barely being touched. This is the last time I will ever go there. They always over charge. The pedicure was fine but all I wanted was a pedicure. They have a menu that says $15. Last time I went they charged me ten dollars over. This time I was charged $37!!!!. I should have complained, but they take your money in the middle of the tiny salon surrounded by customers. The woman was very nice, but I couldn't understand if she was asking if I wanted additional services. I didn't agree to any and I was annoyed because I had to get home and she kept rubbing lotion on my legs. It's close to my house, and the ladies there are pretty nice. I keep going because their gel applications help out my super thin nails by adding layers back. I'll also keep going back because this has been one of the few places where the gel doesn't completely peel off unless it's been well over two weeks, and/ or I've torn them up working a brush fire. It helps if you make appointments since they can get pretty busy in there, but if you're willing to wait (there's a Starbucks that's literally right across the street), they'll take walk ins. read more

I had made a 9:30 appointment and ended up having to wait until 9:55 to actually be seen. Right when they opened there was only one lady there to work while two other women showed up after me to get their nails done. They did not have an appointment and the lady who was working there set them up before myself. I let her know I was in somewhat of a hurry due to work and she said someone would be right in. I had me feet soaking for thirty minutes while waiting for the other ladies to arrive. Two ladies then came and helped me out with my mani/pedi. The one who did my pedicure did a fantastic job and finished in a timely matter. However, the women who was working on my manicure did a horrendous job and because she took so long I couldn't ask her to fix it. She did not apply the nail polish to my full nails and did not even cut my cuticles down. The next day four of my fingers were already chipped. I usually have a great experience at this place, but man did this time suck. They should be ready for a busy start when opening up and if they cant be ready then they need to not take appointments for that time. read more

$28 for Regular Mani/\Pedi's We were out on vacation near Dana Point/Laguna Beach area and I wanted to spoil myself with a mani/pedi. I normally do my own nails but I hate cleaning the nails and cuticles. Its so hard to do it on both hands - I'm not so ambi :P Pro's: No waiting: we called in prior to arriving but they had plently of techs on hand to help with walk in's Clean salon - they were even installing brand new chairs when I arrived. I got to sit in one of the new ones. Friendly ladies - They were complimenting me on my nail art and jewelery Exceptional job cleaning the nail bed and cuticle area - I had an ingrown toenail and the lady working on me was really careful not to dig in too deep. Great 5 min massage on my neck and shoulders Comfy Experience overall - i was very relaxed until they started painting my nails Con's: Nail Polish application needs improvement - maybe it's because I have super high expectations when it comes to nail art and application but I have yet to find a place that will do what I can do to my own nails. They applied my nail color all goopy and stuff and missed some sides of my nails. Top coat didn't "seal" all the edges and sides. I had to wave my hands outside of the car to our next destination for almost 25 mins before I was comfortable digging for things out of my bag. I went in for $28 mani pedi and was charged $41 - not sure how the math worked out because I had my soak off nail polish removed which should be $5 and flowers on my big toes for another $5. Plus I had some callus removal work done... $4? All in All: I might come again or try out another one of the billions in this area. If you see someone with exceptional nail art, keep in mind of their high expectations and everything is gonna have to be perfect.. At least now I can do my own nails again without having to do all that prep work. :) read more

I went here for my first time today with two friends. I asked to get my eyebrows done and I told the lady who was going to do them that my eyebrows a very thick and I'm very particular about them. She seemed like she understood but when she was done I was left with this. My two friends got their toes and nails done and they looked great. My eyebrows not so much and I showed one of the ladies and another employee and they both agreed that they were uneven and asked if I wanted her to fix them and I said no. I was scared she would mess them up even more. I still had to pay 8 dollars which it doesn't matter but the one who did them didn't even say anything and she knew. It's a shame cause they did a great job on my friends nails and were very friendly. I usually like to go get my nails and eyebrows done at the same place. I had such an amazing experience at Tic Tac Nails! They have an amazing location. My fiancé and I waked the coast, walked to a really cute restaurant, and then walked to get my nails done. They were pretty busy when I arrived so wasn't sure if they'd have time for a walk-in. I only waited about 5 minutes, if that. Hillary was very friendly and chatted with me the entire time. She did such an incredible job on my nails. They look flawless! The gel color selection was overwhelming, in a good way! The colors I picked were just what I was looking for. I have been going to Sophie for a while. She does an incredible job, does dip. She knows just how my nails grow after just 2 weeks. She is super fast In and out in 1 hour. And she also does them thin. Only downside is she only works Monday and Tuesday. Which can be hard when your nails grow so fast, wish she'd work Monday Friday. But I get it.
