A great Erythrean restaurant!…read more I discovered this location with my girlfriend thanks a friend who has lived in Lausanne for a while. First off, Erythrean food is quite similar to the Ethiopian food - you have a selection of meals that are all served on the top of spongy bread (injera) and are to be eaten with fingers. There is some variation in what gets served between the Erythrean and Ethiopian versions, but for most people the different will be pretty minor. The owner is very welcoming and is happy to give advice, both as to what to order as food and what to order as wine to go with it. The dish in itself (basically a 25CHF) is to be shared as is more than enough for three people and provides enough of small dishes to be able to accommodate very different tastes around the table (eg vegetarians vs meat-eaters). If you run out of food, the owner will add a bit more; same thing goes for the bread. Needless to say, the food is delicious and is pretty easy to digest. The wines by the glass are a good complement to the meal; their selection is very decent and the price is affordable. Overall, it's a great location and I would absolutely recommend it! The location might be a bit off-putting (rue de la Tour), but the restaurant in itself is great!

We shared the platter for 2. It was delicious. The host and hostess are very friendly and will answer any questions you have. You eat with your hands so be prepared but it's really the way it's done in Eritrea. I highly recommend this place. They take credit cards.

Finally was able to check this place out at lunch time yesterday, after hearing so much about it…read more There are not many burger places between Geneva and Lausanne, and those living here have very strong opinions regarding which grills up the best patty. This location is often argued to be one of the best. The location is easy, just a few steps away from the Ours Lausanne metro stop. The place itself is tiny and they squeeze as many seats in as possible. You can make reservations for a table if you call in advance. If you are more than one person, I would definitely recommend it. The menu is simply burgers - beef, chicken, fish, veggie. You have a choice for an additional cost of adding a side of salad or fries. There are also a few dessert choices, but I didn't see anyone get any, probably because there is no room left after packing away the burger. While you can order to take away, not all the burgers are available for that option. I ordered the Marius burger with frites. The salad looked fantastic as well, but I had to try the infamous frites. Everything was delicious, and the fries definitely lived up to their reputation. I still think for overall quality the burger bun at Rando Burger is better. Putting this burger place as my new second favourite for the area, closely followed by Inglewood as third. I had no complaints regarding the service. Also, be sure to end your meal with an espresso! One of my highlights was receiving my espresso in a Victorian tea cup, with a bite size nibble of their homemade brownie resting along side of it. Very cool. Plus, the coffee was good! Unfortunately, like most places, Zoo is only open Monday - Saturday. Interestingly, they are open for food 11:30 am- 10:00pm. But, per their website for drinks only they remain open until 12:00pm.

I've ordered a lot of veggie burgers over the years (from all over the world) and these are the best I've had. They are so good, I 'be gone there two days in a row. I'm not the only one who thinks these burgers are amazing which is why Zoo Burger is packed. If you want to sit down and enjoy your burger, you need to reserve in advance. But fear not. Pin Up Bar next door will let you sit in their venue and eat your burger. This gives you the best of both worlds as Pin Up Bar has a more extensive wine and beer list and you get to eat you meal without being squished. Bonus!
