my daughter and i visited and wanted to buy a set of so go g bowls. we browsed briefly then found what was advertised there as a 7bowl set. we both asked the owner what frequencies they were/had ) my doctorate is in metaphysical sciences so the freq is of utmost importamce$. the owner repeatedly asked if o really wMted to buy them as she wasn't going to help unless so. i asked again about the "notes" as i did not have a tuner with me. six times the owner refused to help. we chose to leave due to her extreme rudeness. as we walked out she actually accused me of stealing a notebook (i had picked one up briefly to see if it was hand bound then set it back down. she said "you took it ass it is not there!" i honestly waited for he to assault me. mind you, I am 7, have had multiple stroke and have limited vision (which is why i picked up the notebook to better see its composition and coloring). go anywhere else than this! karma will take care of that evil woman! read more

This place sells junk. We bought a $35 item from them and it fell apart within an hour. We took it back the next day looking to exchange or get a refund. We had a receipt, the item and the parts that fell off. We were told that they do not take back broken items even if it lasted less than an hour. This place sells complete junk and has no customer service. It was a complete rip off. We will never shop here again and I would encourage others not to as well unless you just like donating money. read more

I recently started exploring Buddhism and was searching for some statues, books, etc. Which is why I'm glad that I found the Tibetan Himalayan Gift Shop. Not only is it a beautiful store but the owners, Ngawang and Tenzin, were very hospitable and even offered some hot tea to enjoy during my visit. I also appreciated the time they took to explain to me the various Buddhist statues and what each one represented. I was also in search for a new Singing Bowl and the owners took some time to teach me how to use them and techniques to produce the best sound. Definitely planning on coming back in the near future! read more

When I think gift shop, I think cheesy! And expensive and junky. But thankfully that's not the case here at the Tibetan Himalayan gift shop. I came in early on a Friday morning just as the owners opened up the store. Inside Tibetan Himalayan, the space is filled with fabric, clothes, flags, knick-knacks and more. I was here for a specific item but that didn't stop me from browsing the really interesting assortment of goods here. Interesting looking tops, prayer flags, and more, you could spend an hour or two here searching through the displays and racks. The owner kindly offers me some lemon tea which I decline since I'm on a limited schedule today. I spy some Tibetan singing bowls which range from $30 to $60 and pick up a nice one for a friend. But of course the owner shows me how these things work and it looks like it takes a little bit of technique, oh well! Quick as a bunny I'm out with my gift but enjoyed my short time here. Very cool, very eclectic, if you're looking for a hand-crafted gift you just might find something here at the Tibetan Himalayan Gift shop. The most delightfully helpful pair of business owners I've ever met. They've helped me in discovery buddhism and furthering my education. The owners have invited me in for tea as I buy something everytime I'm there. The prices aren't as high as every other different gift shop ghat sells buddhist and Tibetan apparel and souvenirs. I might not have a ton of money but for decoration or buddhist needs I will gladly support this married couple for years to come. read more

Surprising collection of quirky, high quality Nepali items here. The owner and his wife fly there several times a year to choose them and they do a damn good job. As a non hippie I thought the clothing and accessories were modern enough to be worn by the average woman, and everything was reasonably priced. The owner is so so nice and very funny to chat with. They serve patrons tea with lemon and ginger and there is a seat where you can sit and relax for 5 minutes and gaze at the beautiful offerings. Come here for a fun cultural experience. Very nice owner - he always offers lemon tea to all who visit the store. There are lot of good items in the store and prices are reasonable. Their return policy is a bit troublesome (I just got a note on my receipt that I have an $x amount credit). I can understand that for small businesses, the return policies can be difficult - I am just hoping I can hold onto that small receipt paper for future purchases, without losing it! Absolutely one of The BEST Tibetan / Buddhist gift shops in the Triangle! (I also frequent Dechen Collections when in downtown Raleigh.) Love shopping here and visiting with owners, Mr. Ngawang and his wife Tenzin, over a cup of hot tea. Ngawang is a kindly gentleman filled with knowledge, wisdom, & fascinating stories. I always find something lovely and very affordable to wear, display in our home, or give as the perfect gift. But honestly, I go as much for the lovely experience & conversation as I do to shop. =) You will not find a more welcoming and hospitable shopping experience in the area. P.S. I totally underrated this shop! I have been in stores like this in cities like Berkeley etc. that basically sell imported Indian/Nepalese/Tibetan gifts for ridiculously high prices (a.k.a items probably cost them less than a dollar to buy, and they sell it for $40-60). I just assumed this shop was the same, but their prices are VERY reasonable. A lot of the items that they carry are actually practical and useful. Most recently, I came in and my friend found a very fashion forward wool poncho for $25!!! They sell those paisley shawls/scarves that every girl has, and the price range is $7-14. What caught my eye most recently were some soft leggings with cute patterns that are perfect for yoga/meditation or just lounging around the house. In addition to clothing items, they have tons of other gifts, books, and resources for meditation (like cushions). I will definitely be back for some of these items. What really sets this place above and beyond is the store owners. They are a married couple and are very friendly. Most recently I was in and the owner was telling us how he knows many South Asian languages and even showed my boyfriend how to write his name in Hindi just for fun. He also taught my friend how to use the singing bowls...they weren't really trying to pressure us into buying stuff, just being genuinely friendly. read more

My husband and I were trying to kill time before an appointment and happened upon this little store. There wasn't much in the large plaza that we really wanted to browse, so I stopped at this store. My husband resisted a bit, but in the end he was the one throwing items at the cash register (not literally, of course). The owner (woman) was very nice and offered us tea. She didn't sell it in the store; just offered to be nice. Most of the items are handmade and the clothes they have are really unique and beautiful; definitely something I would wear (gotta go without the husband for that kinda stuff). We went for a Curry at Biryani's....wow they are great too! Saw the Tibetan Shop when we were leaving and had such a great time. The owner is very soft spoken but knowledgeable person and was happy for us to look a round. I know know why a Singing Bowl is called a Singing Bowl. He demonstrated them for me and I'll be back to buy one from him. I'm a big fan of the Dali Lama and they have lots of items that relate to him. I bought prayer beads and a wall hanging with the Universal Responsibility prayer on it. Please visit the shop, I'm sure they don't get enough traffic and what they sell is helping Tibet. read more

My family had a horrible customer service experience here the other day. We were looking at rings and asked the owner if the stones were genuine because they looked plastic. We did not mean to insinuate that he sold plastic, we just wanted reassurance that it was not, however, the shop owner misunderstood us. He snatched the ring from my aunt's hand and said "I don't sell plastic. I'm not selling anything to you." Needless to say, we were very insulted and left quickly. Previous experiences we have had at this store have been positive, but after this encounter, we will not be returning. read more

Definitely one of the most charming store in the area. The owners here are so warm, inviting and lovely to talk to. If you ask them any information they would gladly help you. They explain everything in detail about what they are selling, overall this places gives me a relaxing and good vibe. They have a variety of idols, statues, incense, clothing and scrolls. The prices here are reasonable as well, and you are helping a local business. They will not lie to you if something is not authentic when it comes to the beads and such. I have been wanting to come and check this gift shop out and finally found it open. However I am very disappointed. The male owner or worker, not sure asked me if I was looking for anything in particular and I told him I was browsing. He proceeded to pretty much follow me through the store as if I was going to shoplift something. I wanted to see a shirt and I didn't fold it like he liked so he came right up to me and folded it and said his wife would get mad if it wasn't perfect. Finally he said that if I wasn't going to buy anything to stop touching and opening things. Sooooo RUDE!! I was going to buy a few bracelets and stones but after his rude attitude I just left. I couldn't believe a potential customer could be treated this way. I am very offended. He was rude and unprofessional. I was the only customer and I can now see why. i loved this shop and has good atmosphere and have visited a handful of times. however, while i was browsing the two owners kept following my friend and i around the store like we were about to steal something! we were both genuinely interested in what they were selling and wanted to buy some anklets and rings but they made us both very uncomfortable and we left without buying anything. while i understand some businesses experience shoplifting (especially of smaller items) but them following us around the store made us feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome :/ read more

Skip the mall, stop by and visit with Nawang and Tenzin, they will serve you wonderful tea in a lovely cup and saucer, share stories about Tibet and India and then you can shop for some of the most unique gifts for yourself, friends and family.
