Yak und Yeti is my fav ethnic restaurant in my hood. Everything i ever have eaten there i like. To me Nepalese food is a cross between Northern Indian and Tibetan food. The best night here is Thursday night because it's the night of the Momos Special. Now I could prob eat a 1000 Momos at one sitting if I was allowed and I could add the hot sauce on very liberally. And whenever I feel rich which unfortunately is not very often, I order the Lamb Mansahari dish. The combination of flavours is awesome. Dining inside this restaurant is great - i think the atmosphere is really warm and you get to view many Nepalese artifacts. Or if it's summertime, eat under the festive lights in the Schanigarten. You won't see the Himalayan Mountains but drink a lot of beer with your dinner and maybe you think you see them. And don't miss the entrance. It's down a litttle passage off the Hofmühlgasse. I have friends who have walked right by it and never knew it was there. "Hey I really want to eat Nepalese food tonight!"

We got there 10 minutes before closing and the owner graciously allowed us to sit and eat. We had low expectations because we had some Nepalese food in Innsbruck that was essentially flavorless, and we assumed it was tuned to the Austrian palate. (No offense intended, Austria.) The food here was not only bursting with flavor. It was properly spicy! The place itself was beautiful, too. We're only here for a couple days but plan to eat here again before we leave.

The spices were flavorful but less intense than Indian food I've had in the past. I could taste the different spices, and each dish had a distinct flavor. Medium spice felt present but not dominating. The owner stopped by for conversation a couple times. By around 9, we were the only guests, so we had plenty of time to chat with her. She told us that she has been running the restaurant for 28 years, and we learned about her experience as Austria has diversified culturally over the past decades. In the beginning, Austrians did not know what Indian food was, and she had to fill her suitcase with important spices each time she visited home. Overall, great experience. Come for the food, and enjoy the conversation if you're lucky!

I'm a little confused because most of these dishes are heavily Korean inspired, but there's no mention of it. The website and menu describe the food as being "Asian fushion" and also Chinese, Taiwanese, and Japanese. I will say, to their credit, that it was all very inexpensive, and the food was a refreshing and welcomed change from eating Austrian food for days. I had the pork belly buns and beef kimchi tacos. Both were okay, not amazing. The buns were better than the tacos, which had barely any meat or kimchi in them. They have a limited menu, and are mainly a take-away establishment. They have 3 crammed tables. If you're in the area and are having a really specific craving for Korean food, check it out. Otherwise, there are probably better food options in naschmarkt.

This small pan-asian global fusion restaurant is just across from the naschmarkt and they do suffer from some of its touristy inflation. I got the Jianbing (crepe on the right) and the hashimaki (on left. They both cost about the same but the Jianbing is easily twice as filling but half as portable. This place was a nice stop to satisfy my craving for asian streetfood but not someplace I'd go if I was only in town for a day or two.

It wasn't too far from Schwedenplatz, as we walked there after lunch to catch the subway back to our hotel. They are located on a narrow street in the old part of the city. There didn't seem to be any outside seating, which was fine. They had tables near the front windows (where we sat) and bar seating. I think they had another dining room further back too. They had Pad Thai as a lunch special, so I got that and enjoyed it. The other 2 people in our party had some variant of noodle soups, which they also seemed to enjoy. Service was attentive and prices seemed in line with Vienna generally. The only other notable feature I recall was their restroom. They had a door separating the dining area from the hallway where the restrooms were located. This hallway was decorated in wall mirrors - a lot of them. It almost had a funhouse vibe. It was interesting. The restroom itself was pretty average.
