It was my brother's birthday and we thought we'd try something special and exotic to celebrate this special occasion. We went without a reservation and found a place right a way. The Waiter took a couple of minutes to realize that we were not familiar with the dishes or even the system of the restaurant. So, he quickly explained the menu and the possibility of having the special: "every Thursday is Momo's day", Which basically meant an all you can eat of different Momo, dumplings, types(meat/veggi). We went for for 2 specials and one regular dish. All were very good. The dumplings were fresh, had a good dough:filling ratio. The various fillings were delicious and came in different species. Positive: - you experience a new culinary journey in every aspect. - the decoration and different seating areas have a great affect on the experience. Negative: - we waited more than 45 minutes for the our food to arrive. To be completely honest: I Couldn't tell if it was because they were fully booked or because the cookery of the dumplings took that long. Either way, the waiter didn't seem to be alarmed by that and acted normal.. So, I guess the time frame was ok :).

What a wonderful discovery! Eating at this cultural restaurant was certainly a pleasure. They have an outside patio with flags and Nepalese decor, and inside is also richly decorated with their country's items. My husband and I made sure to check Yelp reviews and photos before coming here, to see what we would be interested. We definitely were attracted to the dumplings, also called Momo, and decided to order their ''Momo Mix'' which is a variety of stuffed dumplings provided with a tomato-sauce. They were all absolutely delicious, and writing this review now -- I am already craving them! For drinks we ordered their Yak und Yeti Lassi, which tasted just like Mango Lassi so we were not sure what the difference was, but it was still enjoyable :) On Thursdays they have a special Momo day where you can eat unlimited dumplings for 15 Euro with special sauces. I will definitely be checking that out!

Namaste! Welcome to a beautiful Nepalese garden and for a brand new experience at Yak & Yeti! I never had Nepalese food before... I really enjoyed it, and my Indonesian friends, who already went to Nepal before, loved it too! Speaks volume! The teas were great, the Nepalese herbs are definitely surprising and nice! Too bad we only get one cup of it! ;) The Momos, steamed dumplings filled with meat, tofu or spinach&potatoes, were tasty and well matched with the tomato based sauce. My favorites (the chicken ones) were delicious. The main courses were tasty and well cooked, the spices were perfectly balanced!... the Dal was very very good; the platter with several little bowls was full of tasty surprises that complemented each other; the chicken meal was hot but still eatable ;) and delicious. We had a great time! I would recommend it to any Asian fans looking for a different experience!

I so wanted to be blown away by this place but I must admit there were a few flaws the night we were there. But first the positives: - An authentic Nepalese restaurant run by Nepalese. - Very tasty food, all served on metal plate/trays. Nice touch. - Very nicely decorated inside as well as in the courtyard. The Nepalese theme is certainly followed through and done very well. - Friendly smiling staff. And now for the reasons for only four stars: - Food took very long to arrive. There was a big table ahead of us I know, but starter could have turned up a bit quicker. - Drinks too took ages to arrive. The service altogether was a little too slow for my liking. I'm not someone who rushes but after 15 mins of waiting for a drink I get a bit impatient. - Prices were a little high for what was received. 16€ for a lamb based main course was a little on the high side for what was received. That said is it really great to sit outside in a courtyard in a little piece of Nepal in the middle of Vienna.

Since ages I wanted to go there and check out, if the refrences from a lot of different people were true, that you get there authentical and really good nepalese food - I just can agree with them! I specially liked the metal plates instead of ordinary and boring porcelain ones you can get everywhere. the foos was really really good and the prices were very appropriate. They do serve my personal favorite drink guave juice, which is by itself a good start. the look of the restaurant ist also very traditional and authentic. a little dark inside, but I can say, I felt like on a trip to another country.

One of the more bland Himalayan restaurants I've eaten at, but the decor was amazing, it's open late, and the food is still quite edible.

To me Nepalese food is a cross between Northern Indian and Tibetan food.

When you walk in, you feel like you have left the western world behind and at once reappeared in Lhasa, Tibet. The décor is part of the dining experience here. And if you would like some of the art or decorations to go home with you, there is a Tibetan shop adjacent to the restaurant. Recently a quick but filling bite to eat before meeting a friend for an early performance at the Volksoper was what I needed. I decided to order something actually not Tibetan but from the neighboring country of Bhutan. And that is the Bhutanese national dish of Ema Datshi. This spicy and cheese-filled sauce and rice dish was perfect - especially accompanied by an oft-folded Tibetan Ting Mo to take the edge off of the spiciness. Service was nice enough and I left happy. My favorite Tibetan restaurant had come through again!

In this restaurant they use delicous spices and well-steamed vegetables and tasty meat. I never was disappointed when eating lunch or dinner here. The only thing maybe can be complained is, that they sometimes use a bit too much salt in my opinion. The taste experience is somewhere between chinese and indian style food, but have their individual taste anyway, and can not be compared to instant food here around. The waiters are friendly and open for special wishes, but for people who are in hurry maybe this is not the right restaurant, because as it's a "slow-food" restaurant, also at lunch time, you will not always be served within few minutes. Usually I get my food in between 5-10 minutes, but sometimes also had to wait for 15-20 minutes. But for this type of restaurant and the freshly cooked food in my opinion totally acceptable. The atmosphere is cozy, quiet and almost a bit meditative, because of the music they play and the tibetan-spiritual decoration they have and the incense smell in the air :) For people who want to relax and calm down from the daily hectic the perfect place!

We got there 10 minutes before closing and the owner graciously allowed us to sit and eat. We had low expectations because we had some Nepalese food in Innsbruck that was essentially flavorless, and we assumed it was tuned to the Austrian palate. (No offense intended, Austria.) The food here was not only bursting with flavor. It was properly spicy! The place itself was beautiful, too. We're only here for a couple days but plan to eat here again before we leave.

The spices were flavorful but less intense than Indian food I've had in the past. I could taste the different spices, and each dish had a distinct flavor. Medium spice felt present but not dominating. The owner stopped by for conversation a couple times. By around 9, we were the only guests, so we had plenty of time to chat with her. She told us that she has been running the restaurant for 28 years, and we learned about her experience as Austria has diversified culturally over the past decades. In the beginning, Austrians did not know what Indian food was, and she had to fill her suitcase with important spices each time she visited home. Overall, great experience. Come for the food, and enjoy the conversation if you're lucky!
