I chose this dim sum restaurant because they had turnip cake- one of my favorite foods in the world…read morethat I haven't had in years. It didn't disappoint! I ordered the shrimp in delicate soft dough recommended by the very kind waitress who spoke great English, my turnip cake, a spiced pork bao, and tried a crispy shrimp roll with almonds. Everything was good, by the turnip cake and crispy rolls stood out! The turnip cake was perfect- crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, just the right amount of meat, and tasting delicately of turnip- yes, I wrote "delicate turnip" and meant it! The shrimp roll was crunchy spring roll wrapper around ground shrimp- very good flavor. The thing that was a fabulous surprise was the toasted almonds on the outside- added a different texture and richness- loved them! The bao and shrimp in noodle were both good. The bao had a bit too little filling that was a bit over spiced for me, but still delicious- just different. There a bit too much dough for the two shrimp in the wraps. As I enjoyed my meal in the small but airy restaurant, I noticed a chef there carving duck. The waitress told me that Peking Duck was a specialty. Sadly, my husband wasn't there to get it and share with me, so I ordered the crispy duck roll hoping to get a taste on my own. The duck was amazing! While the roll was a bit greasy (just needed to sit in the basket after a little shake above the fryer), it was such a good combo of flavors with the pine nuts on top! We'll look forward to doing the Peking Duck next visit- the very gracious young people, who borrowed my vinegar earlier, allowed me to take a picture of their table- thank you! They said it was amazing! I should have included pictures or a video of the HUGE dim sum menu- biggest I've seen among all those I considered. If what I had was any indication, I'm sure everything is tasty! Someone try the rice soup (congee) and let us know how it is! I just didn't have room! Took half of what I ordered home!
