The owner came out, inspected, explained in detail what we needed and gave us a quote. He also offered that Xcel was offering a rebate for some of the work we needed down and they would file all the paperwork for it. He was on time, personable and professional and the bid was reasonable and fair. We had the work done and the crew that did the work was on time, efficient, did an excellent clean up after the work was done. They did file the rebate and we received it in the time Xcel said it would take to receive it. It's rare these days to find a business that is honest, timely and fair with respectful crews but Houle Insulation was all of that and more. I would HIGHLY recommend them and in all honesty I am a hard to please customer because I won't "settle" for less than I expect. These guys are good. Because they are good they are busy so just know it may take a little longer to get scheduled but the wait is worth it! We have noticed a huge difference this winter. Heating bills are down and the house feels warmer.

They showed up on time (really early in the morning), got right to work, and were very professional. Alexis and Tarik handled the actual work. They removed all of our old attic insulation, sealed any openings, and installed new insulation that helps repel mice and bugs. Received a call from this company asking me if I wanted to get going on the project. I informed him that I never even received an estimate. He apologized and informed me that the guy at my house no longer works for them. So we set up a new appointment to get an estimate. The 2nd appt I was contacted 20min beforehand by Ryan letting me know that he is 90min away and won't be coming out because it is a waste of his time and his $50 in gas and it would be bad for the planet with his xtra emissions. So here I am 2 months later with no estimate and 2 failed attempts. From start to finish, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience. Communication was essentially nonexistent--calls and voicemails went unanswered, and no one took responsibility for resolving issues. We ordered four replacement windows. During installation, the blinds on our living room windows were removed and damaged beyond repair. We were later told that Jason was "supposed" to have informed us to remove them beforehand, but he never communicated that. Despite this, we were left fully responsible for replacing the damaged blinds. The outside of our house was also left unacceptable. Cardboard and trash were left under our deck, and broken glass from the window removal was left in the rocks in front of our home--posing a clear safety hazard to our small children. When we tried to address these issues, we were met with finger-pointing and indifference. "It's Nikki's job at the shop", "It's service work", "You need to speak with someone higher up than me" etc etc. JASON BARTHOLOMEW 1-651-248-0617, who sold us the project, blamed the office and stated he has "thousands of customers" and couldn't follow up with everyone. I asked who I should call if he couldn't help me, and after the 3-4 time he said I needed to lower my voice and hung up. Others we spoke with said it wasn't their responsibility or that no one was available to help. At no point did anyone apologize or make a meaningful effort to fix the situation. If you value communication, professionalism, and basic accountability, There's a reason they have a very low rating here, we should've known when the sales pitch started with how great they are, and all the magazines their work was shown in... I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere unless you want to file a Better Business Bureau complaint like we will.

Years ago I hired Roofs R Us to replace my dad's roof and add gutter covers. They did an excellent…read morejob. But the company changed hands since then. So when we needed new roofing, siding, gutters, gutter covers, facia and soffits I obtained several quotes. Erik didn't hesitate to come out to Farmington and quote the project. We had some "slick" salespeople and we had a guy that wouldn't give me a quote (he really didn't like women was my opinion) and would only deal with the insurance company. Erik was professional, honest and not "slick." The price was fair. My test is always the "warm and fuzzies." After a few meetings with Erik, he had my business. Then came the problems. Every color combo for all of the above items had items out of stock, discontinued or something. Erik made a lot of phone calls and several vendor trips. I have no idea how many combos we went through - probably 15 or so. Finally we found a combo that could be put together. YEAH!!!! Erik was patient through all of the "I hate neutrals" moments and several trips of holding colors against the house in different light. Roof install went well and then we had to wait 2 weeks for the siding. The siding installation was completed and they came back and fixed a couple of small items and we were done before Thanksgiving. Erik was around almost daily and even picked up extra FOD on his own. They installed our new lights and Ring cams too. Erik was easily reachable and kept on top of the project and kept me up to date. Very impressed. They were within $7 of the original quote (I think permit fees changed). Very happy and thankful that I selected Erik and Roofs R Us.
