Great place to grab a beer right after a hike in the gorge. The patio outside had a lot of seating so then that way we could sit with our dogs. First off, I've never walked into a bar, sat down and heard one of my favorite bands playing over the speakers. No bar ever plays the Cocteau Twins. I'm sure it was a Pandora list but it was literally all my faves. Second, I ordered their Porch Swing cocktail and damn, it was so good I immediately had to have another. It's off to a good start. I was really excited to have this bar come to my hood. The atmosphere is nice & it's got a nice window view of Foster. Unfortunately, it also has a TV which is a distraction that Bye & Bye and Sweet Hereafter aren't missing. The service was quick & friendly and the drinks were nice. I will definitely come back to hang out & grab a drink. The food was not the best. I love HGS but the fries here were WAY too salty. Like, hard-to-eat salty. Went earlier tonight! Super affordable and delicious. No indoor seating area in the bar is close but you order at the bar and there's nobody there besides the bartender and you. I ordered the old impossible for $10 and a side of sweet potato fries for four dollars. The fries were really crispy and THICK. Crunch. Fresh! I also ordered a slushy margarita for six dollars and that was really delicious as well. You don't even taste the alcohol in the margarita. I really recommend the sliders. I like a good burger. Sometimes I literally forget what I'm doing when I'm thinking about eating a good burger. Such is what happened when I walked into Thunderbird and ordered the Old Reliable (V), paid and sat outside. I did not expect a vegan burger, but I sure did order one. Now when that burger came out with perfect fries, (Perfect. Fries.) I was aghast. Where's the hunk of meat I expected? Not until I returned to the bar and the gentleman who took my order confirmed that i realized I done messed myself up. BUT! My night wasn't ruined, oh no. My dumbass kept that vegan burger, with crispy onion ring and Perfect Fries™ and in less time than it takes the Blazers to blow a 4th quarter lead I had a beautiful, cooked to perfection Foster Rd. Burger. Literally, the guy across the table noticed how good my burger looked. Not bad for a redo they had no real reason to offer me, right? Before covid we came here many times and had lovely experiences. We've only been ordering it to go since Covid but have still been loving everything. They have great vegan options I've had all of their burgers and recommend them all. The salad is a little wimpy but it's a bar, why are you ordering a salad anyway. I did order a Miller high life can for $3 and they gave me a 7oz mini bottle... which I was very confused about, so my next drink I ordered a draft beer. Next time you are with a group waiting for a table at Foster Burger, just keep walking through the lobby to Thunderbird instead. Any meat-eaters in your group can still get a Foster Burger (they use the same kitchen) but veg*ns in your group will be MUCH more impressed with the offerings here. The Old Reliable is almost overwhelming in flavors (and honestly can easily be shared by two people, it's a lotta sammich!) and the BBQ bowl is delicious. The Thunderburger is meh (a little dry, even with lotsa sauce) but with so many other vegan offerings you aren't confined to just the house veggie burger like so many other places :) Oh, and if the slushy machine is running...go for the Margarita slushy. Excellent vegan choices and a variety of good beverages. I order here online all the time and they never mess it up. I personally enjoy getting a variety of the vegan sliders. The garden slider and the chikn sliders are my favorite. The vegan mac is pretty good too with a HUGE portion, but maybe better not on take out for me because where i live is far. They have a seasonal slider that is always fun to try. Kale caesar is also a must have with house dressing and the chicken bits it is a huge portion. I stopped in on a visit to Portland straight from a late flight. We were looking for somewhere that was open late and seemed like it had good food because we weren't looking to drink. Around midnight there wasn't really anyone there but the staff was pretty friendly. The bartender was cleaning up so we wanted to make sure that it wasn't an issue to order food. She said the kitchen was still open (I can't remember until what time) and we could order whatever we wanted. She carried on cleaning and we placed our food order, paid and exchanged a few words with her before we took a seat at a table and waited for the food. She told us that we had just missed a huge group of skater kids and were lucky that we came when we did because there was nowhere to sit. She said they usually make their rounds and go to some bar down the street. Well, on to the food. We decided to share a sandwich, some vegan poutine and a slice of cake - with NO birthday candles because this isn't Denny's (or something like that lol) anyways, I'm glad I didn't order my own sandwich because we weren't even able to finish the poutine, none the less move on to the cake. Everything we ordered was delicious, I don't know what was better. I wish we had more time in Portland because we would have come back a little earlier and stayed a while. Adding this new dive bar to my list. They make great drinks and provide excellent service. A vast majority of the food menu are vegan but they also offer meat entrees (most of the burger menu). The sliders however are vegan and tastes just like a beef patty. On sundays, they offer refreshing F'Rose slush for $5. My favorite drinks here so far is the Impala and 6am to Iceland. Very solid pour of alcohol in each. There's an outside covered patio as well allowing for patrons to smoke and drink. Highly recommend this bar to anyone bar hopping on foster. read more

I think it may have been the sauce we weren't huge fans of. The poutine is still as delicious as ever, though. Went in looking for a late night meal after our flight came in and this was one of the only places open in the area. We were warmly greeted by the bartender Coco who was extremely friendly and personable. He gave us the menu and made us feel very safe and cozy, it's a little dim but it's a bar. We ordered the BBQ bowl and the Thunderbird to try. The Thunderbird was quite tasty for a veggie burger and the BBQ bowl which was loaded was the better of the two.
