I brought my vehicle to Thunderbird Automotive Specialist with a fully functioning cruise control. It was working perfectly the day I dropped it off. When I picked up my car, the cruise control was no longer working. When I brought this to their attention, I was met with skepticism, as if my concern wasn't valid. That was frustrating, especially since I know my vehicle and how it was operating prior to service. They asked to keep the car for further inspection, which I agreed to. A couple of days later, they informed me the issue had been "fixed." However, when I asked what the problem was, I was told it was the cruise control switch. What raised serious concerns for me was what came next. When I asked for documentation or a repair record, I was told there was none--because the mechanic had paid for the part out of his own pocket. That explanation simply does not sit right. If a repair was performed, there should always be documentation--regardless of who paid for the part. Transparency is basic professionalism. The lack of paperwork, combined with the fact that the system was working before my visit, strongly suggests something happened while the vehicle was in their care. More disappointing than anything was that no one took responsibility, and no apology was offered. Mistakes can happen in any shop--but honesty and accountability matter. I originally took my vehicle to Peoria Ford because of the closer location to my home but I am shocked and disappointed by Peoria Ford, who falsely claimed that my truck's transmission had catastrophically failed due to Thunderbird Automotive's work. Their diagnosis was completely incorrect -- the transmission never failed -- and they told me the issue wouldn't be covered under warranty. These outrageous and provably false claims created unnecessary stress and frustration. Thankfully, Thunderbird Automotive, led by John (owner) and Jacob (shop manager), immediately stepped in to make things right. They personally handled my truck, ran a full diagnostic, and discovered the real issue -- a blown gasket -- not a transmission failure. They repaired it, refilled the transmission, and test-drove the truck for 150 miles to ensure it was running perfectly. All of this was done at no cost to me, even taking responsibility for minor damage to the hood and offering to cover the ceramic coating reapplication. I cannot emphasize enough the honesty, professionalism, and commitment to customer care that Thunderbird Automotive demonstrated. After such a frustrating and dishonest experience with Peoria Ford, I am deeply grateful to John and Jacob for going above and beyond to make this right. I am a first time customer here, and I have no complaints. My car overheated and ended up needing a new radiator, along with some other much needed repairs for safety reasons. Brought my 2003 VW Passat in 5-6 times for the same coolant leak around 6/20/2022, and although they are very friendly people the mechanics were clearly not experts with German/VW vehicles. I spent upwards of $1k for them to eventually admit that they couldn't fix it. They were unable to figure out how to get the coolant hose attached to the radiator and blamed the aftermarket hosing they ordered. However when I took it to JP Auto Euro specialist the guy noticed right away that it was the wrong radiator that was installed in my car (which is why the hose wouldn't fit). Moral of the story if you have a VW or euro vehicle this may not be the place to bring it. read more

We took our car, an older model, to have some wiring looked at as the car kept stalling. After getting the car back, they did a few thousand $$ worth of repair but NOT the repair we specifically asked them to do. Another $100 later and my husband made the repair himself. While doing these repairs, they replaced the thermostat (we didn't ask them to). Within two weeks, the car was constantly overheating. We took it back and we were told it was a pin hole in the hoses. We had NO leaks at all. We asked about the thermostat and we were told it was a new thermostat so that couldn't be the problem. Today, my husband took it to another mechanic, who changed out the thermostat and lo and behold, the car is running fine and not overheating. I will not be returning to them and if you have anything other than an oil change, I'd find another place to go to. The one star is because I do have to give them a point for being courteous. Sadly, courteous did not fix my car. read more

I took my car to thunderbird automotive with an electrical battery drain. They told me it would take a few days. After 5 weeks of telling me a few more days. I told them another week and then I wanted it back. During that week they told me they found it and needed to get the part. Another 2 weeks and they said it was fixed. After 2 months and over $3,000.00 it is exactly the same as was when I brought it to them. I have to put it on a trickle charger every night. They claimed they had $9,000.00 of man hours on it. I did not authorize all that. I think they just tried to get some money back. No happy at all. read more

I keep having bad service with Thunderbird specialist there tech spends most the time making a list for what needs to b done instead of fixing your car correctly an they act like I'm not supposed to be mad. They had my car for 7 days no communication said she didnt have my correct phone number but called an texted my other number when it was done an now I gotta take it back because the break pedal is farting. They wont put u first when they messed up. I was quoted 1298.00 for my fuel pump then 528.00 for break lines which totals 1826.00 when we went to pick it up the grand total was 2,200. They add a bunch of nonsense to ur total Nickel n dime it till it as close to 3000 it is like this (scamy ) . My daughters car to they charged her 3000 dollars an we have paperwork where they charged 200 dollars every part they fixed an definitely charged her for a filter labor too an filter wasn't even in car yes they put it in but still there screw up. So it is a fact there quality of service isn't no good if I gotta keep going back yes I'm pissed I have every right I work an customer service is they hang up on u an block you . We just had a major repair for our air conditioner on our primary vehicle. They diagnosed and had the repair done the same day we took the car in. They dealt with extended warranty company without me having to get involved. All I had to do was pay my co-pay and pick up the car at the end of the day. And, by the way, the a/c works better than when we bought the car. Every time I've been there, I've been treated much better than any dealer I've ever been to. I had a flat tire they repaired it and as I tried to for their service they said, "just place some money in the tip jar so the guys could buy some lunch". This company had the only fender available I could find. That was in decent shape. I ordered in in March! Paid about $1500. 3 months later and many emails I got no fender.
