3 Stars is fair for my first visit…read more Arrived little before 8:30 Presidents Day and as busy as it already was I still got decent parking. Walking up the steps was difficult with my ski boots, wish I snapped a picture but the stairs were poorly shoveled. The walkway was also poorly maintained filled with sugar snow, and it had not snowed in some time. Feel bad for anyone with a disability, would make it very difficult for them and their caretaker. I jumped into the small line to get my ticket outside. Only one window was open which was odd for a holiday. Guessing a manager walked over and told a family a couple people in front of me that there were ticket windows inside too. The lady and her kid who were in front of me soon followed as the family at the ticket window were having difficulty, I followed in as well. It's a tight space to begin with and no clear structure to where the line is. Some lady came from the lodge portion of the building and cut everyone which was rude of her. When I was next in line the same lady manager started yelling at everyone in line about how the line starts outside and so on. Completely threw my vibe of the place in a negative direction. I ignored her as she kept going on and handed the ticket man my Indi Pass and a $10 bill for the $5 RFID card needed. Super quick transaction and I was on my way. Lets talk about the mountain now. I enjoyed the terrain, there was plenty of snowpack which by 10:30 started getting icy. The sun was not out so flat light conditions which made skiing their double blacks on the main face a little more challenging. But absolutely loved the difficulty of those two runs. Wanted to zoom down them but with the flat light and not the sharpest of edges I played it safe. Stayed off the greens of the skiers right, looked for some woods to play in but really didn't have much in the way of them. Took 7 runs and called it a morning. Another thing that bothered me was their idea of where chairlift cans should go when empty. Most mountains have a trash can at the top where people can discard their empties there. Just before the last pole there was a large bin where I am assuming the mountain is promoting throw your empties here. I find it to be poorly thought out as the bin was full and there was trash all over the place. One gust of wind is blowing it all over the mountain which defeats the purpose of. For what it was I enjoyed the people I rode on the lift with, exploring a new mountain, and getting another day under my belt this season.

My family loves coming to Mohawk Mountain! Our son was 15 when he took his first skiing lesson…read morethere and they were great at teaching him. He learnt fast and they had all ages learning. We're already planning our 3rd trip back this year after Christmas. The bunny slope is just enough for me and my husband. Kiddo, if he wants to, can get in harder slopes. The staff are super friendly and will help you with your boots if you want (I always need help). The lift operators are super friendly. The grounds are very pretty with all that snow. Parking lot is very big and on some days they will guide you on where to park. Also, if you keep your lift card (we keep them in our gloves all year) they will be able to see your previous sizings and the gear you had last time. I think re-using your card also saves you something (like $15) but don't quote me. We always rent equipment there, and yes skiing is expensive but if your family only wants to do the bunny hills runs, the tix is cheaper ($30 as of 2025). The bunny hill(s) is long enough to feel like you've a great skier and conquered something until you see some little snowboarding 3 year old zoom passed you. But our motto at our age, is we leave with no broken bones. PS- The Lodge is right nearby and has amazing chicken fingers plus the hot chocolate hits! Love sitting by the big fireplace to relax and warm up for last run of the day. PPS- We made the mistake of skiing right after a major snowstorm and there was too much powder. We should have waited until the next day or at least gone later when the tracks were worked on/skied on.

Brought my 86 year old grandfather here to get his first laps on the year in. This was my first time here thanks to being an Indi Pass holder. We both had an enjoyable time. We took a couple more runs and called it a day. Personally not a place I would come by myself. Terrain is not at my difficulty, and for the same drive I could be at bigger mountains. But, would not deter anyone from coming and would absolutely recommend here as a place to ski! Sunday 1.4.26

Dear Yelp, Visited…read morehere last night for a school sponsored snow tubing event. Lines were long, my daughter and her friend got in maybe 5 runs in an hour and 20 minutes which seemed like a decent amount. She loved it and said it was a lot of fun and wants to return in the next few days before it closes for the season. However, the one staff member I interacted with at the entrance to the snowtubing left a bitter taste in my mouth. He was not kind, polite or helpful. He seemed annoyed to even have to explain how anything works. I'm sure it's overwhelming, but he just seemed really unhappy to be working. There is ample parking. Love, Nicole

Had. A. Blast. Came…read morehere with some friends and had a really great time. The trails are pretty easy and I do love the shredded mozzarella one since there's a lot of little hills to do jumps and have fun with it (no, I didn't do any of that LOL). Fell a few times getting off the ski lift. It was pretty funny and tragic at the same time since I actually grabbed my friend and pulled her down with me. I have no idea what I was thinking but def wish it wasn't so icy and a little flatter would be great haha. Other than that, it was great! It was snowing but it wasn't sticking so the trails were a bit slushy and icy. Again, nothing to do with the location just nature being nature! It was definitely fun. Not my favorite mountain or anything but it was great! The bathrooms were spacious, they even had changing rooms. The lodge itself was pretty cool! LOVED the indoor fireplace. The 2nd floor was where it was at: the bar! These people were amazing, serving away, great energy great drinks. The Jamaican Hot Chocolate was to die for (I think that's what it was called!). Basically spiked hot chocolate with coconut rum. SOOOO GOOD. Plenty of food options: chicken tenders, fries, pizza. You know, easy stuff! Outside there's a little waffle stand so you can go get your waffles before they sell out! Outside space is great too, you can chill by the seats and heat warmers or the fire pits. It's really a great space to even come and watch others ski and snowboard. Would I go back? Yes! Immediately, no! But yes I would :)

There are some great vertical drops. But... this is a mountain mostly for people with experience. I think it was a small family place that has grown and become more popular. The facilities and slopes haven't kept pace with that growth. -Most of the trails were ungroomed -Trails are not marked properly ... something is labeled a black diamond on the slopes, but a double-black on the map -There is one green run for kids and only 2 wide open blues -Most of the blue runs are chutes or narrow lanes -There are 2 lifts only. Crowded in the morning, not a big deal later on Lift tickets -Fairly priced -I accidentally bought tix for the wrong date (Sunday instead of the Saturday were were) and there is a $20 "rebooking fee". Seemed like an unnecessary money grab. The staff person was curt and rude. The lodge -Geared towards families that come there a lot (they get lockers) -Apres ski bar/music thing ... which kind of looked fun, just saying -Small and crowded on a Saturday -It's hard to find a table at lunch. Eventhough there are signs warning against it, people put their bags on tables to reserve them. We sat at one such table for 45 min without issue, and the older couple rudely kicked us off saying it was there, they had claimed it and were theirs. -Another 3 tables were pushed together and taken over with piles of half eaten food and a sign saying "don't touch our food". This isn't your personal freaking dining room. -One kid (12 years old?) mouthed off to a staff member (30's?) who responded to the kid "how would you like it if I punched you in the eye". IDK what the kid said and maybe they are related. who knows -2 bathrooms with long lines and the downstairs one was in desperate need of cleaning. -I got a veggie burger that was not a black bean burger as promised and instead some awful veggie patty connoction. It was ok once drowned in ketchup. -The parking terrible. It's $20 for the better lot, which is unpaved and as it got warmer turned into a river of mud. I'll be hosing off my equipment and clothes for sure. Otherwise, the 2nd parking lot filled up and people had to park a 1/2 mile down the road.

As coordinator and tour guide, Jason was quick, courteous, and knowledgeable. His connections at various local ski resorts combined with his relationship with the bus company brought our prices down to less than what I would have paid had I booked it separately. But it was his services that I found to be absolutely essential to the efficiency of the operation, which included the booking of the bus & driver, ordering & distributing tickets, escorting our group through the rental process, and helping beginners get to their lessons. Without him, our day trip would have been way more stressful on me and nowhere near as fun for the group. So, do your homework, gather your prices, call the group booking desk at Hunter or Windham, and contact local buses for hire... But then do yourself a favor and call New York Mountain Tours. You'll save money, headaches, and time, and your group will think you're the hero!

Thank goodness for the snow tires! Mount Peter Ski Area was accessible and all the staff we encountered were pleasant, if not outright cool. The kids all took the complimentary half-hour lesson, and the two older ones did all right with me and on their own. The lesson was too rudimentary for my youngest, and he quickly lost interest, deciding to play on a hill of snow, where he entertained himself and befriended other like-minded kids. There were a decent number of food options, although none of them were exactly cheap. The ski area was busy but not overwhelming, which was a nice way to ease the kids back into ski season.

So, I packed up my kids, and mind you, I live on Long Island, so it was quite a long drive. Finally, we arrived, and to my disappointment, there was barely any snow on the ground. When I tried to sign up for lessons, they informed me they were short on instructors, and my kids would have to wait at least 2 hours to get a skiing lesson. I was shocked when I spoke with Rick (I made sure to ask for his name) and he suggested that my children could just take skis and try to teach themselves by going up and down the beginners' hill. I was tempted but then another parent, who was facing similar issues, warned me that it was a foolish idea and not safe for the kids. Any fall could easily result in an injury. Feeling frustrated, I decided to look for alternatives, and that's when I found another ski resort nearby, Mt Peter. I packed up my children once again and drove the 45 minutes to Mt Peter. Let me tell you, it's like night and day. They were extremely professional with plenty of instructors available to guide and teach my children. They are having a blast with lots of snow, unlike West Point, and there are plenty of people of all ages here making it feel inviting. When I mentioned my West Point experience to others at Mt Peter, they couldn't help but laugh and basically said that place is a joke, and the manager there is clueless. Unfortunately, I have to agree with their assessment.

They even had nice little sections that went through the trees, that weren't too difficult to navigate. If you're a beginner, they also have a really nifty learning center up at the TOP of the mountain.
