I bought a used "broken" truck, and the dealership went beyond measure to hide this with masking issues and not sharing that information to close the deal. Be cautious of any AS-IS deal here. It might be a mechanic special without being told it's a mechanic special. Don't let them tell you it's an AS-IS because it's just a used work truck, not because there's a major flaw to it. Just don't. After reading decent Yelp reviews of Thunder Jeep's service department I took my Jeep Wrangler that's still under warranty there for a grunting noise in the front, right wheel well when slowly going over the bump in our driveway. I explained the issue in detail and also asked for a 5-tire rotation. I was told I'd receive a call in the morning with a status update. Come afternoon of the next day I called as I hadn't heard anything. First I was routed to my Service Advisor's voice mail box so I left a message. Nearly 2 hours later I called again and spoke with another Advisor who put me on hold for 25 minutes. It turned out my Advisor was at lunch and nobody knew. When I called back again I spoke with my Advisor who said the technician hadn't looked at my vehicle yet but would the following morning and she'd call me with a status. By 1:20pm the following day I hadn't heard anything so called and my Advisor told me she hadn't spoken with the technician yet but would get an update and call me back. Remember the issue was experienced when I entered my driveway at a slow speed? Somehow that justified the technician taking my Jeep on a 25 mile test drive and determining he couldn't duplicate the issue. My Advisor asked if I could come to the dealership and take the technician on a drive to duplicate the issue. I explained the issue again and that a 26-mile road test wouldn't duplicate it. My Advisor said she'd go with the technician to try it again. I drove to the dealership after work and was told they still couldn't reproduce the issue. I was charged $30.76 for the 5-tire rotation but when I approached my vehicle the same brand new spare tire was on the back (it still had the stripes and nubbies on it so I knew it hadn't been rotated). When I walked back into the service department my Advisor was on the phone with another customer telling them they took their vehicle that's still under warranty for a 35-mile test drive and couldn't duplicate their issue. Seems like the standard answer for warranty repairs. Anyhow, when she finished the call she asked if I wanted them to rotate the spare. Um, yeah! I paid for it! A few minutes later my keys were returned. When I entered my vehicle and removed the plastic seat and floor protectors I found a ketchup packet on the driver's floor so apparently the test drive was to lunch. And two blocks from the dealership my TPMS light turned on showing the spare only had 20psi in it so they didn't inflate the tires. Thanks for putting me at risk of a flat and my life in danger, Thunder! All that said, if you're considering taking your Jeep to Thunder for service, just don't. read more

First day: test drove a vehicle and the sales guy was great. Return visit: had a mix up with our sales guys name. This caused about 6 sales guys to literally surround us at the front door, all trying to take the sale. Almost walked out over it. Eventually worked with someone. My license had not been updated, I just recently moved. I told them the correct address when I gave them my license. Every single document from then on out had to be redone because they kept putting the wrong address. All the way up to financing. Didn't have the title in hand for the trade in, got home and realized that it was electronic. Called them 3 days in a row and left multiple voicemails. Didn't know if we should request a paper title or just have them work with the electronic one. Eventually went in in person to figure it out. Then never got my plate. I called them about it multiple times and left messages. Eventually told the receptionist that I'm staying on the phone until you put someone on who's sitting in their office. That guy was nice but he said that he'd send an email and someone would reach out on Monday. Nothing on Monday. Called Wednesday and finally got someone to send the plate 2 day shipping. Worst car buying experience I have ever had and that's coming from someone who used to be a finance manager at a car dealership... I reached out to them for a car they had advertised on cargurus and dealt with someone in sales named Tim who was happy to give me the lease payments I asked for. I agreed on the lease number they gave me and I was asked for a deposit to hold the car and in turn, I asked for a buyer's order to confirm the vin and other details of the jeep I was interested in. At that point I was told that "my manager thinks he made a mistake. Give me just a few minutes." The following day I received a call stating that the payment would increase from $533 as agreed upon to $674....$141 more a month! I was told that the increase is because of an error they made when calculating the money factor........An increase in the money factor from 0.00190 to .00220 does not increase the payment by $141 a month......I am home from military leave for a few more days and my budget was $600 and this jeep had the wheels my wife wanted so I told them to send over the paperwork at the new payment. I did not want to spend my last few days of leave shopping around for a car. It gets worse from here.... The deal was structured with ZERO down, taxes and first payment rolled into the payment as I had requested. I explicitly made that clear to Tim when I first spoke to him and confirmed that with him on the phone several times. I then get an email with a credit application saying "The taxes were not included in the buyers order. I wasn't sure if you wanted to pay them upfront or not." From increasing the payment $141 A MONTH and then trying to say the taxes were not included when it EXPLICITLY says 0 DUE AT SIGNING, I would not recommend anyone to do business with this dealership. When I asked for a further explanation, I was told the finance manager that can explain that to me is not in the office today, they will call me tomorrow. How is it the end of the month and the end of the year and a car dealership does not have a finance manager that can break down the lease for a client? Keith then tried to insinuate that I was calling them a lier, all because I requested a breakdown of the payment and basically told me not to do business with them. Lets not even talk about the TWO THOUSAND dollar doc fee they tried to charge. I would never take my truck back to this dealership.. It took them 26 days to fix the exhaust manifold. Then when I got my truck back it was scratched. They blamed it on corrosion and told me that they will pay for part of it to get it fixed, but again the scratches were not there when I dropped it off... it ended up that I had to pay around $750 to fix what they did... also. Yeah try and contact them. They never answer the phone... I called Corporate and made a complaint and of course they didn't call me back... I also talked to the general manager Mr Smith, and h3 did nothing!!! By the way the day after I dropped my truck off they called me and stated my truck was fixed. When I showed up and started my truck it.was making the same noise.... I asked for a manager and he stated that his workers work with a lot of power tools and he probably didn't hear it because of it... a couple days latter the same manager stated the the guy that worked on my truck was new and that he was in training... Do not buy a used vehicle from this dealer. They sold us a broke van that after 5 times back to the dealer, they could not fix. They bought it back and sold us another broke van for my wife and 2 kids.... Bought a chrysler Pacifica with 30k on it, on the way home the dash lit up with all the warning lights, would not shift and began slowing down on its own. We called them to fix it and they tried 5 times to no avail. They actually bought it back on the terms that I buy a replacement from them. The replacement van (Honda Odessey with 32k) was delivered with check engine lights on even though we were promised it was 100% perfect. After the first rain we have water pouring into the interior of the van. Call the dealer to find out they lied to us and it is not under warranty. Now after purchasing a 35 thousand dollar van, I must immediately drop untold amounts of money to get it fixed. Charging system and whatever is causing the water leak. These guys are not to be trusted to sell a properly working vehicle, even though that is the only thing they are supposed to do. read more

Must've worn out a pair of shoes going back and forth between his desk and his sales manager but couldn't get it down to what we could afford. We were preparing to leave when I asked to look at his inventory. Still nothing. He went one last time to see if anything in inventory matched our needs. He was earning his salary. The building has recently undergone a quality upgrade that is beautiful with a nice waiting room and even a Jeep stuff sales area. The Service Dept expanded and looks more professional. I stopped in to ask their cost of an oil change and systems check. They had "buy 2 for $100" with synthetic oil, so I gave them a shot. A good savings compared to the $89 tune-up at Chrysler in Lakeland. He thought it would be a 2 hour wait (which I wasn't thrilled with when other places take 30 minutes) but were finished in one hour, giving me the tip that afternoons are better for quick than first thing in the morning. Complimentary drinks, snacks, wifi, charger station and TV was a bonus while I waited. I don't like that when you drive up in a lane, you are left to wonder whether they come out to you or you go into them. After waiting a while with no welcoming person nor any of 4 desks looking up, I crossed lanes and went in. I received no info on whether tires needed filling, wipers okay, fluid levels, etc. While pleased with ambiance, length of time for service, they need to continue to improve in their communication to get more stars than "average" from me. read more

Go in for one thing and they magically find a bazillion other things wrong. Never rotated the tires and they said they did when I know three of my tires have valve stem caps and one don't. And the one that don't was still in same place as it was when I dropped it off yet they rotated. I still stand behind the Chrysler/Dodge brand because every one we have owned over the last twenty years have been amazing vehicles. But DO NOT use THUNDER for any service needs. 2019 Durango taken in on 12.08 to have a water pump replaced under warranty. They claimed they noticed the oil starting to leak behind the timing cover and would replace that while they were in there. Vehicle was picked up and brought home leaking oil on garage floor. It never had an oil leak prior to this. It was returned over 8 times for the oil leaking. They kept replacing gaskets despite my asking them to verify the work done on the timing cover. The 7th time it was returned, they did not reinstall the brush guard under the vehicle. I had to make another trip back for them to install the parts they left off. Only to return home with the same oil leak. The 8th attempt the oil leak was resolved, however it was returned with suspension and steering issues it also never had prior. Even though it was under warranty. I took it to a private mechanic. All 3 bolts for the steering rack and pinion were loose causing the rack to shift every time the steering wheel was turned or bumps in road. The right front sway bar link bolts were loose. Both front lower strut bolts were loose. Both front sway bar bushings bracket nuts were loose. They also left all of the heat shields disconnected. I wouldn't recommend this dealerships service department to anyone. Literal garbage work and zero quality control. Worst service experience i have ever had. And over 3 months of problems created by this dealership that NEVER existed prior to them touching the Durango. The only issue it has ever had was a failed water pump. I still stand behind the Dodge brand, but if something is not done about the quality of work at this dealership, you definitely will not have return buyers for your product. If any of those loose bolts had came loose towing our boat or on the highway, this would have a much worse outcome. I brought my 2016 Ram Eco-Diesel in earlier this year due to a malfunctioning DEF pump and tank. I was told my software would be updated after the repair. I researched the update and saw numerous complaints about losing power and fuel mileage after the update. I was assured, by the service manager, that this problem had been corrected. I agreed to the update. I don't drive much so I hadnt had a chance to compare. Last week I drove to Texas and back. My truck has lost power,nand instead of the 30-31 HWY MPG I was accustomed to, I was lucky to get 20 MPG. I feel I have been intentionally misled in order to have an update put on my truck. And with the price of diesel at an all time high, this is a significant misrepresentation of the facts. I am out a substantial amount of money and driving an underpowered truck. I went in to look at a Dodge Journey today. I was shown 3 one older model and newer models. The older one had a price on it, but was making a clicking noise when turning. The second two where newer to the lot and didn't have prices. Upon inquiring the price I was blown with being told they were around $20,000. I test drove one of them after the sales person went inside to get keys. After the test drive I inquired again about the price and was blown off again with they were both around $20.000. Later I called to inquire about the price again and was put on hold three times sending me back to the operator. So it seems there is not a lot of interest in selling me a car. read more

We paid a good amount of money to replace parts that ended up not even being the issue. Took the truck back to see why the issue wasn't fixed. They said it was a leak in the hose now and needed more money to fix that. We decided to take it to a different mechanic and found out they didn't even run dye through the system to diagnose the problem. BEWARE OF OIL CHANGE DEPT.. as they did the following on my 2006 Mega Cab diesel on 8/21/2019. Sales receipt said they lubricated chassis but the grease fittings were covered in mud and not exposed. They couldn't have greased the fittings. Multi point inspection indicated that the front differential was good but the truck is a two wheel drive and doesn't have a front differential. I have no confidence that they did indeed drain old oil and put in new oil or filter. You can't check by the color of the oil as diesel oil turns black as soon as you start the engine. I called the service writer and advised. He said he was going to go listen to the oil change techs story. I never heard back from the service writer. If I hadn't purchased several oil changes in advance, I definitely wouldn't continue using Thunder in Bartow Fl. read more

Drove up almost 4 hours from Miami to make a deal for a Certified 2019 Grand Cherokee. Great vehicle, great price, loved it. Got offered the most for my trade. Half way back home I found out why they offered me the most for my trade and why the price of the vehicle was so great, they wanted to get rid of the car. Half way home the car starts shaking, engine light comes on and a start/stop light turns on. I have no idea what is wrong with the vehicle, I am not a mechanic. Next day car turns on, keeps shaking when accelerated same lights come on. Used my wife's car to go to work. Following day take the car to the nearest Jeep dealership and has been there ever since. To make things worse they gave me only one key which is ok since it was not a new car but guess what, when I take the car to the dealership the key they gave me is not the vehicle's key, they got some key, programmed it and said it was the car's, it doesn't even have the lift gate button. I did drive the car with the sales person but it was a quick turn around and we drove about a mile and made a U turn, did not accelerate the car and did not shake or turn any lights on, all happened about an hour and a half driving back home. I do not understand how can they sell a car as certified and have so many problems. They will say its a used car and that is the way the car business goes, yes but it had only 14k miles on it and was "certified". I guess certified means that it will only turn on. I am very disappointed, was the first Jeep I have ever bought. I will update the review once the car comes out of the service department and they tell me what is wrong with it. This used to be a very good dealership if you needed service work done to a vehicle, but since they have changed ownership this dealer has gone to S*#t. I have taken my vehicle to this dealer at least 4 times for the same issue and the issue is still not fixed, because they don't have the parts, even after they called me and told me that they did. One of the times that I took it to them I had an appointment for Monday morning. When my wife dropped it off she asked them if they would need both remotes so that they could be re-programed, and she was told no. On Tuesday they called my wife and told her they would needed both remotes so they could be re-programed, so I had to leave work to take the other remote to the dealer. When I arrived I also found out that they never even worked on my vehicle on Monday even though I had an appointment. And by the way, the last time I had my oil changed they tried to over charge me until I questioned them about it. read more
