IF YOU VALUE UR HAIR OR LOOKS RUN DONT WALK AWAY FROM THIS PLACE I walked in with shiny, healthy, virgin hair and what I walked out with I can only call my worst nightmare. I lay awake imagining myself just skipping that appointment or leaving when they made me wait well over 30 minutes over when I scheduled to come in. My hair was left with multiple colors on a single strand, which comes as no surprise as she didn't do a test strand and just slathered on color in like 15 minutes and then toned it for all of 5. Maybe she was in a rush since she wasted so much of my allotted time on the previous client. My hair has been FALLING OUT IN CLUMPS. I had to get a super expensive treatment done to try to undo the damage and am paying a RELIABLE salon to correct all the mistakes. Called in more than once to complain and when the owner finally got back to me she said she'd get back to me... cue the crickets. Like I said I daydream about having have missed that appointment. I waited a month to write this review, because I feel like with hair appointments, you really have to give it a few weeks to see if you really like it; it's easy to get caught up in the new color for the first week, but realize you're unsatisfied with the cut - or vice versa. Thankfully, it's been just the opposite with this salon visit! I went to Thru Luna's Eyes because I bought a Groupon for a cut and bayalage. I am generally pretty low maintenance (aka cheap) when it comes to my hair. I needed a boost for fall though, so I scheduled my appointment. I was paired up with Sidney, a new stylist at the salon. I came into the appointment a hot mess - I had literally just gotten dumped via a phone call - so upon meeting me I was a crying, snotty mess. I explained what was going on, and she gave me a moment to pull myself together. She was very patient and kind, and agreed to not do anything too drastic to my hair (aka bangs or shave my head). She took her time to make sure I got what I wanted for my hair - and it turned out beautifully! I haven't been this happy with my hair in a long time - and I'm trying to figure out ways to be able to afford to come here in the future. I happened to stumble upon this awesome salon when I found a Groupon for a cut and bayalage. It's been such a long time since I've had my hair done that I read some reviews and jumped on the offer. BEST. DECISION. EVER. From the moment I walked in the door of this hip little Ferndale boutique, I felt welcomed. All the stylists were friendly and treated me like a long time customer. I had the pleasure of working with Hailey who saw my inspiration pic from Pinterest and made it a reality. She (along with Meg) made me feel like we were great friends instead of a random girl who walked in off the street. And my hair!!! It's everything I could've hoped for! I bought a groupon for a full highlight, cut, and blowout, and I must say my hair looks amazing. Megan did a great job, and did exactly what I was looking for. She is very passionate about doing hair, and it definitely shows. I have naturally curly hair, so I am picky on the cut, and she nailed it. For the color, my hair was already pretty blonde, but as it got bleached by the sun it turned more brassy than I prefer. After the highlights, she toned it according to my non professional explanation (golden but not yellow with dimension), and it was spot on. She styled it after, and it looked so good when I left that I made my bf take me out for drinks. Also, when I called to make an appointment, they were able to get me in with a weeks notice! I found Luna's on Groupon when I typed in "hair color". They were the only business to offer exactly what I was looking for in a complete, affordable package. I desperately needed a shampoo/condition, haircut, permanent color and blow dry straight. Since they advertise as being experts in "creative colors" I felt confident that I had made the right choice. They're located in beautiful Downtown Ferndale which is like Hair Salon Mecca. I was surprised to see so many beauty shops all on the same block. But nevertheless, Luna was glad to service me the very next day. All of the stylists are very pretty and hip. The salon itself is modern and they cater to everything. Dreadlocks, extensions, keratin treatment...I want it all lol. Meg was super friendly and knowledgeable on various hair products. And as a bonus, I was happy to hear that I'd be getting German hair dye. I don't why that excited me, but I've heard good things about German hair color being chemically better than American brand hair dye. Meg took her time and communicated with me every step of the way. My stylist was very sweet, and did a nice job on my hair. I had a cut, color and highlight done. The whole staff was fun and very friendly. Only reason I am giving it 3 stars was the appearance and cleanliness of the studio was disgusting. There was clutter everywhere and dirt, dust, hair and dye all over and a salon in my opinion should be pristine, shows the care they would place in you as a client. I almost left because of the filth, I was very uncomfortable and quiet because it was dirty. The counters were dirty, dirt and hair in the seams of the walls, the manicure table which looks like it hasn't been used in ages was filthy and full of dust. Then the front desk was full of papers and clutter. I wish the girl that did my hair work else where because I won't be returning due to the filthy upkeep to this salon. read more

This was easily the worst hair dye I have ever had. I went in with an ombre and left with hair that looked like dishwasher. I recently moved to town so I needed a new salon. Katie did my hair and it turned out horrendous. The worst part was my hair still looked horrible after she "fixed" it. I had no idea that a salon could even mess up your hair so badly. I got up charged for the "fix" too. Bottom line, I will have to spend hundreds of dollars to get a professional to fix it. read more

I don't go to salons very often, but every time I've gone to Luna's Eyes I've loved the experience and of course my hair. The salon is a very nice relaxed and accepting atmosphere. All of the stylists are professional and talented. I especially like Stein and Kali. It has a very open minded and creative atmosphere with many options as far as creative colors, extensions etc. This salon has a good balance of traditional, conservative styles mixed with more edgier, modern styles. My experience at Thru Luna's Eyes has been nothing short of wonderful and amazing! I was desperately looking for a new salon that was close by and found a groupon for Thru Luna's Eyes. My first time was Dec. of 2017 where I had a cut and color by Meg. I had read quite a few amazing reviews about her so knew that she was the stylist I had to have. So glad I went with my gut. Best hair cut and dye I had ever had! And she's so knowledgeable and professional, paying attention to detail. Very precise. And takes her time. Definitely knows what she's doing. And so sweet. Just love her! :) Recently went back after 8 weeks. Color lasted longer than most other dyes. Love the products they use since I try to be as organic as possible. I ordered a Groupon and asked for someone with experience. The man that answered the phone said the person he had me scheduled with was great with color. I went on their website the day of the appointment and my appointment was with the receptionist. Thru Luna's Eyes told me to get my refund through Groupon. Groupon advised they cannot provide a refund after three days. I spoke with Luna and she told me to take it up with Groupon. When I offered to bring her in Groupons written responses, she said she would call the cops on me if I came to her salon. read more

Very unhappy with my haircut here. The girl who cut my hair was very sweet and friendly, but seemed very inexperienced. I purchased a groupon here for cut and color and neither turned out how I would have liked. I have a short pixie cut which requires minimal maintenance and cutting should be simple because it is really just a trim on what is already there. The color the girl put in was a bright, brassy, school bus yellow on my brown hair, and she took about an hour with shears, thinning shears, and a razor all over my hair which wasn't necessary because, as I said, all I needed was a trim. The salon was not very clean, and I think the only thing that I really liked about it was the friendliness of the staff, which would be fine if I was going there to make friends rather than get a hair cut. I ended up going to another salon in town to get my hair fixed about a week later when I couldn't take it any more. read more

My hair is orange! And the stylist Melanie (nice girl) cut my waist length hair off just past my shoulders when I only wanted 4" off. After speaking with the owner Luna she informed me that she WOULD NOT fix it and to contact groupon for a refund. Well per groupon, "After 3 days from purchase, all sales are final!" So now I'm left with copper /orange hair and no money to get it fixed. Luna said I was happy with the color after it was done. I was in SHOCK that my hair was so short and couldn't tell how orange it actually was until in the sun and it different lighting. It was supposed to be light brown with a hint of cinnamon balayage highlights. Not freaking ORANGE! I'm devastated and the owner could care less. Horrible experience! When hair stylists make a mistake like not leaving the bleach on long enough so there's no orange left they usually offer to fix their mistake, but not Luna. I've never in my life had this type of experience. I didn't ask Luna to fix it, I wanted the girl who colored it to. LUNA REFUSED. UNBELIEVABLE! read more
