I am deeply concerned about the lack of urgency shown by this pediatrician regarding my newborn's lab results. The labs indicated a potentially life-threatening condition, yet there was no timely follow-up or communication from the office. I had to call multiple times just to get answers, and the delay could have had devastating consequences for my child's health. When caring for newborns, every hour matters. Families depend on their pediatrician to act quickly, communicate clearly, and prioritize urgent results. Instead, I was left to chase down critical information on my own, which is both frightening and unacceptable. Because of this experience, I cannot recommend this provider. Parents deserve to feel confident that their child's doctor will respond swiftly and appropriately to urgent medical concerns--especially when a newborn's life may be at risk. My experience with this practice has gone steadily downhill since ABCD Pediatrics took over from Through the Years. The care is fine but everything else has suffered. My kids' appointments start late, billing is incomprehensible, and the staff has been unhelpful or blames the management or doctors for things. If my kids were not already longstanding patients of Through the Years , I would not come back. read more

Terrible service, very unprofessional. We took my son twice last week, both times we were sent back home with no diagnostic, hence no treatment. 7 days later we get a phone call saying my son was positive to strep and they would be sending the prescription to the pharmacy. We went to the pharmacy and the prescription was never sent, we've been calling all day trying to have them send the prescription with no success. When I asked when should I expect the prescription to be sent out the representative said "we are at the mercy of the doctor". You should be more empathetic with your customers, keep in mind you are dealing with people's health, why should my son keep suffering with no treatment. Knowing what the diagnostic is, and what the treatment needed is, but taking your time to write a prescription is the definition of negligence, and that comes with liability. read more

I have had both my children under care here since they opened. My son caught covvid so I called for them to issue a prescription for the anti-viral. The attendant told me , coldly, that my son had to be seen by the doctor before any prescriptions could be issued and that the earliest date was the following week. I explained that the anti-viral was time sensitive and must be taken within 5 days of testing positive. My son was already on the second day. She told me she would leave a message with the doctor and someone would call me later that day. This call was around 10 a.m. After not hearing back I called again around 2pm. They said they "would do there best"... well they never called back. They would rather deny my child access to medication that could keep them out of the hospital. They showed absolutely no sympathy for my situation or care for my child. I went online, and within 1 hr had the prescription I needed and the care for my child. I will be transfering my childs medical records on monday to another doctor. They should be ashamed of themselves. This is the worst form of customer service and patient care that I have ever experience in my life. I highley recommend if you care for your children, DO NOT trust this group to care for them as well. read more

We have been with Through the Years since our oldest child was born 8 years ago and my niece and nephew have been seen there even longer. My child had an ear infection back in September and since we were less than 48 hours away from leaving for a trip I knew that I needed to get her seen that day so that we could get her on an antibiotic and give it time to begin working before we left. I called as soon as they opened and sat on hold for so long that I was disconnected. I called back and requested that I be called back asap to set up an appointment. By noon I'd had enough of calling and calling and never getting to speak to a human being so I got in the car and drove to the office. I managed to get the last appointment for the day. Our pediatrician has now left the practice just like every other provider that has worked here since we began working. They have always been wonderful and given fantastic bedside manner. However, since being bought by ABCD Pediatrics the level of service has gone so far downhill that I have no intention of bringing my children here again. We were only alerted to our children's doctor leaving because she was kind enough to send us a letter- the practice gave us absolutely no notice. I do not understand how any business, much less a medical practice, can expect to retain clients in this day of modern technology if they cannot even answer the phone. I don't know anyone who has the time to drive to an office in person to schedule an appointment to then turn around and return later that same day with a sick child. Do yourself a favor and find a small practice that has not been bought out by a large company. read more

Ever since the company changed ownership in the last couple years the business went down hill fast. The new processes for the most simple paperwork are ridiculous and take forever. They can't receive a fax at the office, it has to go to an office in a different city and takes forever to process....but when we tried it they lost the fax twice. Lunch hours are 11:30-1pm, prime time for an appt for working parents. I once called at 11:10 it was already transferring to corporate call office because of lunch and corporate call office was useless. Expect to wait long after your appt time and then get called back and have to wait even longer before the doctor will come in. They will waste your time and don't care. One of the doctors said that they required an appt to get a document signed but then talking to another doctor they said that isn't necessary and the doctor could have signed it. Strongly encourage you to stay away from this place. read more

My sons' provider has left. I went here recently when my baby was sick because his new pediatrician's office had no sick visits left. The NP first tried to tell me it was just a cold despite me telling her that my son was not acting normal. She tried to send me home without any testing. When I pushed for testing, they didn't seem receptive. I even told them I have a toddler in daycare so I need to know what it is incase I need to pull my other son. Well, guess what? He was flu positive. She then had the audacity to tell me she doesn't prescribe Tamiflu. If he was positive and I'm his mother--she should ask me if I would like the prescription or not. I don't need her personal preference. This is not an unreasonable request. Additionally, he had flu before and took Tamiflu well. It made him significantly better. She did not care. Here we are, 1.5 weeks later and my baby still has symptoms. I took him to his pediatrician. I will never be back to this place. I'm in medicine so I have every right to call to speak with management about improper patient care. read more

They WERE great for the last 6 years! However, my daughter has been sick for a few days now and last night I decided I should probably have her seen. I go to their website to see if they would be open for the MLK holiday to see that my children's doctor is no longer with the practice. How do they not even send out an email about that?? Then I go to access their portal to get my daughters immunization records so she can see a new doctor and I cant long in anymore because they have completely changed the system again without sending any type of email letting me know how to access the new site. Look elsewhere for a pediatrician. Our 3 children HAD been patients of this practice for over 10 years and we were so so so pleased with the level of service and attention that we received until last year when they were bought out. I gave them a chance (actually like 5 chances!) hoping to stay but they have continuously let me down. From ridiculously long hold times (once I actually drove to the location and was still on hold only to find out that the calls are routed to other locations/call center and 3 people working in the front office were just sitting there), to not seeing the same doctor twice since Dr. Jacobson left, plus just dreading having to call there to make an appointment when my kiddos have a fever or feel sick. It shouldn't be that way. I really hate leaving this review because the doctors really were great, but in their absence and since the company that purchased this small practice doesn't seem to care about the families that depended on them, I am hoping this review will help save another mom or dad from the uncertainty of dependable healthcare for their child! read more

We have been with TTYP for nearly 6 years. Dr. Jacobson is our primary, and we just adore her. We've seen Drs McCray and Anguiano in her absence as well, and they've been kind and helpful. It truly feels like family there. I'm blessed to have healthy children, so we pretty much only have to go for well visits. Each time, we are greeted so warmly by staff and Dr. J, the kids' growth praised in a way you'd expect at a family reunion. We never wait more than a few minutes. In emergency situations, we've been able to get appointments on very short notice. We had to leave the practice for a short time when my husband was out of work, since they only accept private insurance. Each time we had to visit another practice, I was reminded of how truly great TTYP is, and what a blessing Dr. J is to our children. read more

When we moved here my son was experiencing monthly high fevers that lasted for 5-7 days. Several doctors were not able figure out what it was. Dr. McCray was able to diagnose him with a rare disorder that when given a particular medicine, his symptoms improved. We were so relieved. Since then Dr. McCray has helped my family so much. She has guided us through dealing with ADHD which has greatly improved our whole family's quality of life. We are so happy that we can rely on her and the rest of the staff at Through the Years Pediatrics to provide the best care for our kids and have enthusiastically referred many friends to Dr. McCray. read more

The physicians and staff here are top notch. We were looking for a new pediatrician after a series of issues at another provider. After consulting a number of sources, we made a "meet and greet" appointment with Dr. Anguiano. She spent 45 minutes with me, addressing my questions and concerns. We recently brought our child into the office, who was not on good behaviour due to a lack of a nap. The staff were courteous even though the screams continued for the majority of the visit. Dr. Anguiano was very sympathetic, listened to our concerns, gave a thorough examination, and even got a "high five" from our taciturn toddler. Vaccinations were administered quickly (thankfully). Although quality of service was our prime concern, it is worth noting that traffic is not stressful and parking was ample. read more

My daughter has been a patient at Through The Years Pediatrics since we moved to town four years ago. Dr. McCray, Dr. Anguiano, and Dr. Jacobson are each superb. We are blessed to have discovered this practice. The doctors are responsive, honest, and practice top-quality medicine. I know Dr. McCray best, but all of the physicians are wonderful. The doctors strive to meet the needs of both the children they care for and for their families. Their decisions are reliably up-to-date and based on the best available evidence. Often, physicians stop learning best practices after they complete their residency. Dr. McCray, though, strives to always deliver a higher level of pediatric care this year than she did the year before. She is connected and committed to the community and is always looking for ways to make San Antonio a better place for children. By the way, I do have inside insights on what it takes to be a good doctor. I have been taking care of children as a pediatric cardiologist for over twenty-five years. Our family has been going here for over 9 years. We see Dr. Mccray but have seen all of the Dr on staff and I can say I really like all of them. They have ALWAYS been attentive of my children and there needs and illnesses. I don't have to wait long and the staff is always kind and courteous. Be wary of the friendliness. Dr. McCray and her staff are very nice and are very good at getting back to you. They're also great at being punctual--never any wait times. Her nurse is great as well. Because of those reasons, I can see why people like her practice. However, besides nice, I found her very head-strong and condescending. My daughter had terrible reflux since she was a week old. Dr. McCray said that reflux is over treated in our country and so all she said to do was feed her with an air-reducing bottle. For 10 weeks my baby threw up everything and screamed. Maybe too many babies are treated, but mine certainly had it. When I asked to put her on Prevacid, she insisted on referring to it as a "proton pumping inhibitor" and told me my daughter would get pneumonia. She also sent me a link to an academic article to back up her reasoning, which I thought was kind of rude. (Granted, I have a master's degree in quantiative research and could read it but she didn't know that.) But don't worry, she prescribed a $100 medication for a birthmark in my baby's butt crack. Super important stuff. She's very opinionated about lots of things--down to stupid baby products. "Don't put your baby in a rock-n-play or let her sleep in a swing because she'll get a funny head. Only use Dr. Brown's bottles. You're using Enfamil? Oh, Similac is so much better. Don't swaddle that way, swaddle this way!" She even put a new pacifier in my baby's mouth because she didn't like the one she had. I appreciate her wanting to help, but is that really her place? I was only paying for medical advice (which was AWFUL). Her staff is also very (for like of a better term) stupid. They overbooked my daughter's 2 month appointment and called and asked if I could reschedule for when she was 4 months old. Seriously. They also tried to schedule a well-child check too early (the CDC says to wait two months between shots and they booked my appointment a week before it would have been two months. I'm the one that told them they couldn't do that.) Maybe I just had a bad experience, but I wanted to make sure I shared this with others so they wouldn't have a bad one too. We switched to ABCD Pediatrics and are much happier with their service so far. read more

Dr. Jacobson and her RN and LVN Staff have maintained great bedside manner with my 2 boys . My 5 year old loves Dr. J - and my entire family sentiments are the same. Lindsay is AMAZING all of the nurses have been such a blessing. However, this office's billing team and some of their clerical staff assume they hold a title of "MD" or "God" My husband and I carry insurance and have had our boys with this office for years. The moment when my husband switched to primary of the policy and spoke with the insurance carrier to provide them with the info TTYP would need to see my son on his 1 year need for a check up and immunization , the miscommunication was handled by the billing team unprofessionally and poorly. If the manner in which I was treated yesterday , is the way those whom are on assistance or medicaid are treated - this practice is serving others rudely and regardless of anyone's insurance everyone deserves to be treated with respect for a service they are paying for to keep this practice economically productive. The " Hi! How are you? Please and Thank You " we have experienced over the past 3 years vanished and was replaced with a tone of " GO take a seat while we try and figure this out. " I understand EVERYONE has difficult days, but the lack of any professionalism, or time to sit and call the federal broker whom houses our united healthcare insurance would not be heard or even taken in any regard to keep my sons appointment which we showed up to in a timely manner to receive treatment. The conversation I had with my 5 year old about not returning to Dr. Jacobson was rough, he loved her, I loved her, but the bottom line is , you do not employ people whom feel the need to treat others with disrespect. I was able to call in an appointment for my 1 year old with a new pediatrician whose billing clerk and supervisor were more than willing to call the federal brokers office and receive our United Healthcare Insurance information and imagine this - we have an appointment with information that was able to be received on their end with my help in 7 minutes! read more

We used Dr. McCray for our pediatrician, and it seemed like every time I spoke to her any of my concerns were just brushed off. For my daughters 6 month wellness and vaccination visit, I told her I felt my baby was very sick. She was very congested and did not seem herself at all. Dr. McCray barely looked her over and didn't even run any tests. Told me it was just a cold and she would be over it in about 5-7 days. They then proceeded to give her 5 vaccines. My husband and I were not happy. The next day she was even worse. She could barely breathe, her eyes were swelling, watery/gunky, and was running a fever. We took her to the urgent care near us where they immediately tested her and ran x-rays to make sure she didn't have pneumonia. Turns out she had RSV and they put her on a nebulizer to help her breathe. We had to stay overnight at the urgent care and were told if she was not any better by morning we would have to go to the hospital. Luckily she seemed to be doing better so they prescribed us medicine and a nebulizer. We took her to a different pediatrician the next day and discovered my baby also had an ear infection. Needless to say we refuse to go back to that pediatrician. RSV is very serious and my baby could have been hospitalized because the doctor didn't take me seriously and thoroughly check my baby. read more

We have been with Through the Years Pediatrics for 2 years. ( We did see another ped however was not impressed) We love Dr. Leah Jacobson. She is very through and understanding for 1st time mothers. The doctor never rushes me either. We saw Dr. McCray and she was as amazing as Dr. Jacobson. In fact, what I loved is that the day before Thanksgiving she was the only dr working and still did not rush me with my baby being sick. My husband took her to a sick visit with the newest Dr. ( sorry I do not know her name) and he said she was pretty good but not as good as Dr. Jacobson. I do not know and my daughter is too young to say. I recommend this practice and these doctors. Sometimes the wait can be long... I guess because they really do not rush you at all. I met Dr. McCray at an open house for the North Central Baptist Hospital. My wife and I were about to be first time parents, and we were introduced to McCray and her partners. They passed out goodie bags and flyers and were super friendly. My wife and I thought they would be a good fit for us, so we pursued it. However, shortly after the birth of our daughter, she started crying uncontrollably and we weren't sure what the problem was. We initially thought it was reflux, but McCray thought otherwise. She never prescribed us any medication. For 10 weeks straight, our sweet daughter suffered because McCray was under the impression that our daughter didn't need medication. We finally took matters in our own hands and gave our baby small doses of Prevacid. Ever since then she's been great, and hasn't suffered. We have since moved on to a new pediatrician and we couldn't be happier. If you choose to go to McCray, but aware that, although super nice and sweet, she has an agenda, and will stick to it at all costs. read more

Worst experience ever!! Apparently I had a past due bill that my insurance denied when i switched jobs. I spoke with accounting and they agreed to take a payment on a specific date. I called later to set up an appt after literally being in the hospital with my baby 3 times in the last 5 weeks.. Sarah took my new insurance info and explained the past due balance which I told her I made arrangements with billing which was not a problem. I explained everything to her and thanked her so much for getting me in today... When I arrived she asked for part of the payment so I gave her close to half which she said was fine then called me up for $32 more I handed her a $20 and said that was all I had.. She said ummm no I need $32 rudely.. So basically you aren't going to see my 18 month old over $12 ????? "I don't know" she said... "You don't have more??" I was embarrassed beyond belief not to mention I just want to know what is wrong with my baby. I am sorry that we were unable to see Dr Jacobson, with all the stress I have been under with my daughter being so sick I thought today we were finally going to have some answers! read more

Dr. McCray is outstanding. She has provided fantastic care to my two children. She is super helpful, nice, caring, patient, professional... I'm an attorney, have very high expectations, and could be a nicer person and less judgmental--and I unquestionably think she is great. Dr. McCray is the BEST pediatrician we have seen, and our children have seen pediatricians in three different major cities. She is HIGHLY recommended. If you don't like her or how she does things, then all I can say is good luck finding a more capable, competent, and nicer MD. Also, the wait is always very short and they are very accommodating for sick children walk-in visits in the am. Staff members also are nice, including reception, which is unique. We are moving to El Paso, otherwise we would go to her forever. We were so happy with her, we drove from Boerne to see her each time! read more

Office staff is great, wait is minimal, and the nurses are really good as well. I would give all of those 5 stars. Dr. McCray is a really sweet lady, very thorough, and always punctual. However; she is also extremely conservative, head strong, and can easily come across as condescending. When my child had a treatable virus she was adamant that he needed to just wait it out, get through it, let it run its course, etc. We ultimately ended up seeing my family practitioner who prescribed anti viral meds, and he could not believe she would not give him anything to relieve his pain. He was better within 12 hours of the first dose of the medicine. She will often cite the AAP as the reason behind her decisions, but if there is anything that needs best judgement to be applied your child will be the one who has to suffer. She very much follows the "I'm the doctor, you're the parent" role, and although will listen to your concerns and beliefs she will not act on them. She seems like she would be open to a team treatment approach, but she is not. Dr.McCray is a nice person, but I was not happy with my child under her care as a pediatrician. Dr. Anguiano is neither friendly nor a good pediatrician. She has very poor bed side manner. She is cold and aggressive, and not willing to do much at all for sick children. She also regurgitates the AAP standards as well, and does not use judgement in her treatment decisions. A robot could look up the AAP guidelines and recite them to me, but that's not what I needed, I needed a doctor. Dr. Jacobson is wonderful!! If it would not have been awkward to have to see the other practitioners in the office I would have stayed at the practice in a heartbeat. Dr. Jacobson is warm, caring, and proactive. She's not afraid to use medicine when your child really needs it, and really relates to how you are feeling as a mom when your child is sick. She is a great pediatrician!! If you decide to take your child to Through the Years Pediatrics make sure you see Dr.Jacobson. If you have to see Dr. McCray or Dr. Anguiano know that they'll always lean towards no meds, and go ahead and look up the AAP guidelines for what you are going in for because that's exactly what you'll get. read more

I needed a new pediatrician due to my daughter's former doctor never being there and always seeing a new practitioner every time we went in. I needed a same day doctors appointment for an emergency so my previous employer recommended this place as it was where he took his daughters. It is a little over an hour from where I live but the drive is worth it!! I love this place, Dr.Jacobson is the best! We have seen all three doctors and I liked all of them. We always get in fast and I love that they have Saturday walk-in sick visits. I highly HIGHLY recommend them!!!! read more

I have been bringing my kids here since they were born. I WILL NEVER GO ANYWHERE ELSE! My 3 year old has suffered from ear and nose issues since he was 4 mo. old and unfortunately my 3 month old looks like she will have the same problems. My wife and I know this doctors office very well and we would have never stayed this long if we felt the level of care was less than superior for our kids. I'm a very judgmental person and some may say I find the faults in every little thing but I have never had one negative experience at this office and this is why I love these doctors: There are only 3 doctors so if you come in w/o an appt, you know your going to be seen by only 1 of 3 rather than 1 of 10 doctors ( like larger practices). Every doctor is very knowledgeable and never rushes us through any appt. If we call after hours, one of the doctors always calls us back quickly. The entire staff treats my kids with respect and compassion. The best thing is that all three doctors work TOGETHER. Honestly it's like getting three fantastic doctors for the price of one! read more
