Avoid This Pediatrician - Disrespectful, Judgmental, Dismissive, and Unprofessional I had an absolutely terrible experience with Dr. Kaldas at Alpha Pediatrics, and I feel obligated to warn other parents before they make the same mistake of trusting this facility with their child's care. A week after my son was born, I brought him in for his first appointment while I was still recovering from a challenging pregnancy and delivery that not only left me physically drained but also nursing a spinal leak. The moment Dr. Kaldas walked into the room, the visit took a turn for the worse. Instead of introducing himself with care and professionalism, he immediately fixated on my decision to hold off on the Hepatitis B vaccine at birth without even asking why or listening to my concerns. For the record, I come from a family with a documented history of autoimmune disorders and severe vaccine reactions, including Guillain-Barré Syndrome and SPS (Stiff Person Syndrome). I also have a debilitating muscle disease that followed with the administration of the Gardasil vaccine I received as a teenager, so naturally, I wanted to make informed choices for my son's health. Rather than engaging in a respectful and constructive conversation, he dismissed me entirely, shaking his head in disapproval before demanding to know if I had received the RSV and Tdap vaccines during pregnancy. When I answered no, he shook his head again, making it clear that he saw me as an unfit mother rather than a parent making well-researched, personal medical decisions. His attitude became even more unprofessional when he abruptly changed the topic, interrogating me about my education and relationship status - completely irrelevant to my child's medical care. "Did you even go to college?" he asked me condescendingly, only to cut me off when I answered. When I told him I had a degree in Computer Science, he then asked "Is the father involved?" His tone wasn't one of concern - it was the uncalled for judgment on my personal achievements, as if he was attempting to discredit me rather than provide me valuable medical advice to come up with a logical approach to my son's health. The entire visit was riddled with cheesy sarcasm to mask bias remarks - an utter lack of professionalism. This man is more interested in imposing his personal opinions on vulnerable new parents, placating on their fear and protective instincts towards their children, than in providing actual healthcare. A good doctor listens to concerns, educates without condescension, and respects a parent's right to make informed medical choices. Dr. Kaldas failed on ALL fronts. To make matters worse, the office itself was run-down and unclean - completely unacceptable for a medical facility treating newborns. I left that appointment feeling disrespected, judged, and unheard. I paid out of pocket for an appointment just to be insulted and told information that was sprouted from low level thinking. Total joke of a facility. I immediately found another pediatrician to ensure my firstborn child would receive care from someone who actually listens. If you are looking for a doctor who values science, respects parental concerns, and treats patients with kindness, this is NOT the place for you. I strongly urge parents to find a provider who actually cares about children's well-being instead of pushing a one-size-fits-all approach and passing judgment. The care Quality is amazing from the doctor, however the office is just not warm very unwelcoming. I love everything about the Dr, for the exception of the office staff, there seems to be tension in the office and you can cut it with a butter knife. Just moved to Texas and was looking for a Pediatrician for my child and was hoping to get a one stop office. We waited longer than usual to see him and then once he came in the room he started trying to push vaccines, oral drops and other things we were not interested in. Think well before you go to this office. We have been going to Dr. Kaldas for the last five years. He is a very caring doctor and a gentle man. But I feel that he maybe close to his retirement. However, there are several problems with this office. First, there wait time is just unbearably long. I don't understand why they book your appt at 8:15am when Drs are not even coming until 9am. One hour wait is just given every appt we had. I think they are extremely overbooking and can't see patients in timely manner. Patients' time is precious as well as Drs. Second but more importantly, we feel very uncomfortable with the office staffs. They are just so aggressive and not happy all the time. I feel them they are busy and under stress. But you should not sound like to the patients, "I really don't want to work here so don't talk to me". It is not fair for any families who are visiting the office to be treated that way. Seems so unprofessional. I wonder how they treat each other in the back, if they can show that much of tense mood to their patients. So many times we thought about going to another Dr.'s office. We love Dr. Kaldas I first took my daughter, now 17, to see him when he first opened his practice. We had nothing but horrible experiences with other Pediatric clinics in San Antonio. She was three, and we had found nothing but clinics that made you wait 2-3 hours with a sick kid in an overcrowded waiting room and a different Dr every visit! You won't find any of that with Dr. Kaldas My son, now 13, has been seeing Dr. Kaldas since the day he was born. Dr. Kaldas received special permission to perform his circumcision at the hospital. My son was first seen by Dr. Kaldas at 15 months when he was taken to North Central Baptist hospital for breathing issues the on call doctor was Dr. Kaldas, he was so thorough and kind took the time to explain to us what was going on with my son and Asthma issues and recommended specialist for him. My son now 11 has seen Dr. Kaldas for all pediatrician needs and yearly check ups and we absolutely love him and recommend him to anyone looking for a very kind, thoughtful and brilliant doctor! He never rushes through appointments and takes time to not only talk to me but to my son and ask questions and really takes interest in what is going on in his life. His sense of humor helps my son feel comfortable and at ease when we visit. He is the only doctor my son looks forwarding to seeing. We switched to this practice when my son was 2 weeks old because I was not impressed with the first pediatrician I chose (after doing much research on her, as a new parent does). Walking in, this place seems very run of the mill but don't be fooled, this is no ordinary doctors office. They must put a little something in the coffee because how else could an entire staff be so cool and helpful. Both of my boys go here and we love both doctors, it's a father daughter practice and both are great with kids to say the least. I never feel rushed when asking questions and they always make time to chat up my kiddos and make them feel special. Wait times are almost non existent and the ladies up front are efficient as can be. I've never seen more than 2 patients in the waiting room with me and the staff has never been rude. Doctors offices always get a bad wrap for one reason or another but this one is the exception and I hear they even take Medicare too even though it's in the Stone Oak area. All in all I couldn't imagine switching pediatricians for anything short of the doctors round house kicking me through a door for no good reason. Thanks doctors! read more

Both Doctors Kaldas are incredible with our kids (6 and under 1). We are incredibly fortunate to have them. Both are thorough and patient with children, and they remember our kids. So we found this office online while researching for a new pediatrician for our 10 month old. He's been sick quite a few times and his other doctor seemed to not care at all about the concerns we had for our son, that's definitely not the case here! I called as soon as they opened ON A MONDAY and got an appointment! Moms we know how hard that can be. Me and my husband got there with our son and I couldn't even finish filling out the paperwork before they had us in the back taking his measurements and vitals, within 10 minutes the doctor was in. She listened to everything we were worried about and gave us helpful advice and solutions to a lot of his problems while checking him very thoroughly! She made us feel heard, reassured, and we left knowing we'd found our child the perfect doctor! I definitely recommend this office! read more

Dr. Kaldas is the sixth pediatrician I've used over the last 12 years (due to moving, not because I have a passion for filling out medical forms...) He has been my favorite so far. Alpha Pediatrics is a small, clean office inside the hospital complex. I have never had to wait more than ten minutes for an appointment, and the staff is exceptional... prompt, friendly, and professional. Dr. Kaldas clearly has a passion for his work, is thorough yet efficient in his exams and takes the time to answer all questions. He is very knowledgeable, personable, great with the children (of course,) and remembers his patients. I really appreciated the ease and comfort of having a wonderful pediatrician while we lived in San Antonio, and am very sad to have to find another new doctor when we move. I have four children and have had doctor Kaldas since the first day of my first born (10 years). His kindness and understanding has been beyond what I could have wanted in a pediatrician.
